Proverbes 10
1 Maximes de Salomon. Un fils sage est la joie d'un père; et un fils insensé, le chagrin de sa mère.
The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother.
2 Les gains iniques ne profitent pas; mais la justice sauve de la mort.
Treasures of wickedness profit nothing: but righteousness delivereth from death.
3 L'Éternel ne laisse pas le juste souffrir de la faim; mais Il repousse la convoitise des impies.
Yhwh will not suffer the soul of the righteous to famish: but he casteth away the substance of the wicked.
4 Celui qui travaille d'une main lâche, s'appauvrit; mais la main des diligents enrichit.
He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.
5 Qui recueille en été, est un fils sensé; qui dort pendant la moisson, est un fils qui fait honte.
He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.
6 Il y a des bénédictions pour la tête du juste; mais l'iniquité recouvre la bouche de l'impie.
Blessings are upon the head of the just: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.
7 La mémoire du juste demeure en bénédiction; mais le nom des impies tombe en pourriture.
The memory of the just is blessed: but the name of the wicked shall rot.
8 Celui qui a la sagesse dans le cœur, accueille les préceptes; mais celui qui a la folie sur les lèvres, court à sa perte.
The wise in heart will receive commandments: but a prating fool shall fall.
9 Qui suit la voie de l'innocence, suit une voie sûre; mais qui prend des voies tortueuses, sera démasqué.
He that walketh uprightly walketh surely: but he that perverteth his ways shall be known.
10 Celui qui cligne les yeux, est une cause de chagrin; et l'insensé parleur court à sa ruine.
He that winketh with the eye causeth sorrow: but a prating fool shall fall.
11 C'est une source de vie que la bouche du juste; mais l'injustice couvre la bouche des impies.
The mouth of a righteous man is a well of life: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.
12 La haine provoque les querelles; mais sur tous les manquements l'amour met un voile.
Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins.
13 Sur les lèvres de l'homme de sens se trouve la sagesse; mais la verge va au dos de qui manque de raison.
In the lips of him that hath understanding wisdom is found: but a rod is for the back of him that is void of understanding.
14 Les sages tiennent la science en réserve; mais la bouche de l'impie est une ruine qui menace.
Wise men lay up knowledge: but the mouth of the foolish is near destruction.
15 L'avoir du riche est sa forteresse; la ruine du pauvre, c'est sa pauvreté.
The rich man’s wealth is his strong city: the destruction of the poor is their poverty.
16 Le gain du juste est une cause de vie; le revenu de l'impie, une cause de péché.
The labour of the righteous tendeth to life: the fruit of the wicked to sin.
17 Celui-là est le chemin de la vie qui garde la discipline, mais celui qui néglige la correction, induit en erreur.
He is in the way of life that keepeth instruction: but he that refuseth reproof erreth.
18 Dissimuler la haine, c'est avoir des lèvres qui mentent; publier la calomnie, c'est être méchant.
He that hideth hatred with lying lips, and he that uttereth a slander, is a fool.
19 En parlant beaucoup, on ne manque pas de pécher; mais qui réfrène ses lèvres, agit prudemment.
In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise.
20 La langue du juste est un argent de choix; le cœur des impies est bien peu de chose.
The tongue of the just is as choice silver: the heart of the wicked is little worth.
21 Les lèvres du juste donnent la pâture à plusieurs; mais les insensés périssent par défaut de raison.
The lips of the righteous feed many: but fools die for want of wisdom.
22 La bénédiction de Dieu, c'est elle qui enrichit, et le pénible labeur n'y peut rien ajouter.
The blessing of Yhwh, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.
23 C'est une joie pour l'insensé de commettre le crime; et d'être sage, pour l'homme de sens.
It is as sport to a fool to do mischief: but a man of understanding hath wisdom.
24 Ce que redoute l'impie, c'est ce qui lui arrive; mais [Dieu] accomplit les vœux des justes.
The fear of the wicked, it shall come upon him: but the desire of the righteous shall be granted.
25 Comme passe l'ouragan, ainsi disparaît l'impie, mais le juste est une fondation éternelle.
As the whirlwind passeth, so is the wicked no more: but the righteous is an everlasting foundation.
26 Ce que le vinaigre est au dents, et la fumée aux yeux, tel est le paresseux pour celui qui l'envoie.
As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to them that send him.
27 La crainte de l'Éternel prolonge les jours; mais les années des impies sont abrégées.
The fear of Yhwh prolongeth days: but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.
28 L'attente des justes devient joie; et l'espoir des impies, désastre.
The hope of the righteous shall be gladness: but the expectation of the wicked shall perish.
29 Pour l'innocence la voie de l'Éternel est un fort; mais une ruine pour les méchants.
The way of Yhwh is strength to the upright: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity.
30 Le juste est à jamais inébranlable; mais les impies n'habiteront pas le pays.
The righteous shall never be removed: but the wicked shall not inhabit the earth.
31 La bouche du juste pousse des jets de sagesse; mais la langue dépravée est arrachée.
The mouth of the just bringeth forth wisdom: but the perverse tongue shall be cut out.
32 Les lèvres du juste connaissent la grâce; et la bouche de l'impie, la perversité.
The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable: but the mouth of the wicked speaketh perverseness.
