1 Et l'Éternel parlant à Moïse dans le désert de Sinaï, dans la Tente du Rendez-vous, le premier jour du second mois, la seconde année après leur sortie du pays d'Egypte, dit:

The LORD spoke to Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, in the Tent of Meeting, on the first day of the second month, in the second year after they had come out of the land of Egypt, saying,

2 Faites le recensement de toute l'Assemblée des enfants d'Israël, selon leurs familles, leurs maisons patriarcales, en énumérant les noms de tous les mâles individuellement;

"Take a census of all the congregation of the children of Israel, by their families, by their fathers' houses, according to the number of the names, every male, one by one;

3 parmi les hommes depuis vingt ans et au-dessus vous ferez, toi et Aaron, passer à la revue selon leurs divisions tous les hommes d'Israël qui doivent marcher comme soldats.

from twenty years old and upward, all who are able to go out to war in Israel. You and Aaron shall number them by their divisions.

4 Et vous vous adjoindrez un homme par tribu, celui qui est le chef de sa maison patriarcale.

With you there shall be a man of every tribe; everyone head of his fathers' house.

5 Et voici les noms des hommes qui vous assisteront: pour Ruben, Elitsur, fils de Sedehur;

These are the names of the men who shall stand with you: Of Reuben: Elizur the son of Shedeur.

6 pour Siméon: Selumiel, fils de Tsurisaddaï;

Of Simeon: Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai.

7 pour Juda: Nahesson, fils d'Amminadab;

Of Judah: Nahshon the son of Amminadab.

8 pour Issaschar: Nethaneel, fils de Tsuhar;

Of Issachar: Nethanel the son of Zuar.

9 pour Zabulon: Eliab, fils de Hélon;

Of Zebulun: Eliab the son of Helon.

10 pour les fils de Joseph, pour Ephraïm: Elisama, fils de Ammihud; pour Manassé: Gamliel, fils de Pedahtsur;

Of the sons Joseph: Of Ephraim: Elishama the son of Ammihud. Of Manasseh: Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur.

11 pour Benjamin: Abidan, fils de Gideoni;

Of Benjamin: Abidan the son of Gideoni.

12 pour Dan: Ahieser, fils d'Ammisadaï;

Of Dan: Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai.

13 pour Asser: Paghiel, fils de Hochran;

Of Asher: Pagiel the son of Ochran.

14 pour Gad: Eliasaph, fils de Deguel;

Of Gad: Eliasaph the son of Reuel.

15 pour Nephthali: Ahira, fils de Einan.

Of Naphtali: Ahira the son of Enan."

16 Tels furent les commissaires de l'Assemblée, princes des tribus de leurs pères; ils étaient les chefs des souches d'Israël.

These are those who were called of the congregation, the leaders of the tribes of their fathers; they were the heads of the thousands of Israel.

17 Moïse et Aaron s'adjoignirent donc ces hommes qui sont désignés par leurs noms,

Moses and Aaron took these men who are mentioned by name.

18 et convoquèrent toute l'Assemblée le premier jour du second mois. Là ils se firent inscrire dans les registres, selon leurs familles, selon leurs maisons patriarcales, avec l'énumération des noms, depuis l'âge de vingt ans et au-dessus, individuellement,

They assembled all the congregation together on the first day of the second month; and they declared their ancestry by their families, by their fathers' houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, one by one.

19 comme l'Éternel l'avait prescrit à Moïse qui les fit ainsi passer à la revue dans le désert de Sinaï.

As the LORD commanded Moses, so he numbered them in the wilderness of Sinai.

20 Et les fils de Ruben, premier-né d'Israël, enregistrés selon leurs familles, selon leurs maisons patriarcales, avec l'énumération des noms, individuellement, tous les mâles de vingt ans et au-dessus, tous ceux qui devaient marcher comme soldats,

Now the descendants of Reuben, Israel's firstborn, their generations, according to their families, by their fathers' houses, according to the number of the names, one by one, every male from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war;

21 les hommes recensés dans la Tribu de Ruben furent au nombre de quarante-six mille cinq cents.

those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Reuben, were forty-six thousand five hundred.

22 Sur les fils de Siméon ceux qui furent enregistrés selon leurs familles, selon leurs maisons patriarcales, les hommes recensés avec l'énumération des noms individuellement, tous les mâles de vingt ans et au-dessus, tous ceux qui devaient marcher comme soldats,

Of the descendants of Simeon, their generations, according to their families, by their fathers' houses, those who were numbered of it, according to the number of the names, one by one, every male from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war;

23 les hommes recensés dans la Tribu de Siméon furent au nombre de cinquante-neuf mille trois cents.

those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Simeon, were fifty-nine thousand three hundred.

24 Sur les fils de Gad, ceux qui furent enregistrés selon leurs familles, selon leurs maisons patriarcales avec l'énumération des noms, ayant l'âge de vingt ans et plus, tous ceux qui devaient marcher comme soldats,

Of the descendants of Gad, their generations, according to their families, by their fathers' houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war;

25 les hommes recensés dans la Tribu de Gad furent au nombre de quarante-cinq mille six cent cinquante.

those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Gad, were forty-five thousand six hundred fifty.

26 Sur les fils de Juda, ceux qui furent enregistrés selon leurs familles selon leurs maisons patriarcales avec l'énumération des noms, ayant l'âge de vingt ans et plus, tous ceux qui devaient marcher comme soldats,

Of the descendants of Judah, their generations, according to their families, by their fathers' houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war;

27 les hommes recensés dans la Tribu de Juda furent au nombre de soixante-quatorze mille six cents.

those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Judah, were sixty-four thousand six hundred.

28 Des fils d'Issaschar, ceux qui furent enregistrés selon leurs familles, selon leurs maisons patriarcales, avec l'énumération des noms, ayant vingt ans et plus, tous ceux qui devaient marcher comme soldats,

Of the descendants of Issachar, their generations, according to their families, by their fathers' houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war;

29 les hommes recensés dans la Tribu d'Issaschar furent au nombre de cinquante-quatre mille quatre cents.

those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Issachar, were fifty-four thousand four hundred.

30 Des fils de Zabulon, ceux qui furent enregistrés selon leurs familles selon leurs maisons patriarcales, avec l'énumération des noms, ayant vingt ans et plus, tous ceux qui devaient marcher comme soldats,

Of the descendants of Zebulun, their generations, according to their families, by their fathers' houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war;

31 les hommes recensés dans la Tribu de Zabulon furent au nombre de cinquante-sept mille quatre cents.

those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Zebulun, were fifty-seven thousand four hundred.

32 Des fils de Joseph, des fils d'Ephraïm ceux qui furent enregistrés selon leurs familles, selon leurs maisons patriarcales, avec l'énumération des noms, ayant vingt ans et plus, tous ceux qui devaient marcher comme soldats,

Of the sons of Joseph, of the descendants of Ephraim, their generations, according to their families, by their fathers' houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war;

33 les hommes recensés dans la Tribu d'Ephraïm furent au nombre de quarante mille cinq cents.

those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Ephraim, were forty thousand five hundred.

34 Des fils de Manassé, ceux qui furent enregistrés selon leurs familles, selon leurs maisons patriarcales, avec l'énumération des noms, ayant vingt ans et plus, tous ceux qui devaient marcher comme soldats,

Of the descendants of Manasseh, their generations, according to their families, by their fathers' houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war;

35 les hommes recensés dans la Tribu de Manassé furent au nombre de trente-deux mille deux cents.

those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Manasseh, were thirty-two thousand two hundred.

36 Des fils de Benjamin, ceux qui furent enregistrés selon leurs familles, selon leurs maisons patriarcales, avec l'énumération des noms, ayant vingt ans et plus, tous ceux qui devaient marcher comme soldats,

Of the descendants of Benjamin, their generations, according to their families, by their fathers' houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war;

37 les hommes recensés dans la Tribu de Benjamin furent au nombre de trente-cinq mille quatre cents.

those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Benjamin, were thirty-five thousand four hundred.

38 Des fils de Dan, ceux qui furent enregistrés selon leurs familles, selon leurs maisons patriarcales, avec l'énumération des noms, ayant vingt ans et plus, tous ceux qui devaient marcher comme soldats,

Of the descendants of Dan, their generations, according to their families, by their fathers' houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go forth to war;

39 les hommes recensés dans la Tribu de Dan furent au nombre de soixante-deux mille sept cents.

those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Dan, were sixty-two thousand seven hundred.

40 Des fils d'Asser, ceux qui furent enregistrés selon leurs familles, selon leurs maisons patriarcales, avec l'énumération des noms, ayant vingt ans et plus, tous ceux qui devaient marcher comme soldats,

Of the descendants of Asher, their generations, according to their families, by their fathers' houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go forth to war;

41 les hommes recensés dans la Tribu d'Asser furent au nombre de quarante-un mille cinq cents.

those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Asher, were forty-one thousand five hundred.

42 Des fils de Nephthali, ceux qui furent enregistrés selon leurs familles, selon leurs maisons patriarcales, avec l'énumération des noms, ayant vingt ans et plus, tous ceux qui devaient marcher comme soldats,

Of the descendants of Naphtali, their generations, according to their families, by their fathers' houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go forth to war;

43 les hommes recensés dans la Tribu de Nephthali furent au nombre de cinquante-trois mille quatre cents.

those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Naphtali, were fifty-three thousand four hundred.

44 Tels sont les hommes recensés que recensèrent Moïse et Aaron et les princes d'Israël, les douze hommes qui étaient là chacun pour sa maison patriarcale.

These are those who were numbered, whom Moses and Aaron numbered, and the leaders of Israel, being twelve men; each representing his fathers' house.

45 Et tous ceux des enfants d'Israël qui furent recensés selon leurs maisons patriarcales, de l'âge de vingt ans et au-dessus, tous ceux qui devaient marcher comme soldats en Israël,

So all those who were numbered of the children of Israel by their fathers' houses, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war in Israel;

46 tous les hommes recensés furent au nombre de six cent trois mille cinq cent cinquante.

even all those who were numbered were six hundred three thousand five hundred fifty.

47 Mais les Lévites, selon leur maison patriarcale, ne furent point compris dans le recensement.

But the Levites after the tribe of their fathers were not numbered among them.

48 Et l'Éternel parla à Moïse en ces termes:

For the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

49 C'est la Tribu de Lévi seule que tu ne feras point passer à la revue et que tu ne comprendras point dans le dénombrement des enfants d'Israël;

"Only the tribe of Levi you shall not number, neither shall you take a census of them among the children of Israel;

50 mais tu préposeras les Lévites sur la Résidence du Témoignage, et sur tout son mobilier, et sur tout ce qui y tient; ils porteront la Tente de la Résidence et tout son mobilier et ils en feront le service et c'est autour de la Résidence qu'ils camperont.

but appoint the Levites over the Tabernacle of the Testimony, and over all its furnishings, and over all that belongs to it. They shall carry the tabernacle, and all its furnishings; and they shall take care of it, and shall camp around it.

51 Et quand la Résidence devra quitter une station, les Lévites la démonteront, et quand elle devra camper, les Lévites la dresseront; mais l'étranger qui s'en approchera, sera mis à mort.

When the tabernacle is to move, the Levites shall take it down; and when the tabernacle is to be set up, the Levites shall set it up. The unauthorized person who comes near shall be put to death.

52 Et les enfants d'Israël camperont chacun dans leur camp et chacun près de sa bannière, selon leurs divisions.

The children of Israel shall pitch their tents, every man by his own camp, and every man by his own standard, according to their divisions.

53 Mais les Lévites camperont autour de la Résidence du Témoignage afin que [Sa] colère n'éclate pas contre les enfants d'Israël; et les Lévites monteront la garde dans la Résidence du Témoignage.

But the Levites shall camp around the Tabernacle of the Testimony, that there may be no wrath on the congregation of the children of Israel: and the Levites shall be responsible for the Tabernacle of the Testimony."

54 Ainsi firent les enfants d'Israël: ils se conformèrent à tous les ordres que l'Éternel avait donnés à Moïse.

Thus the children of Israel did. According to all that the LORD commanded Moses, so they did.
