Nombres 21
1 Et le Cananéen, Roi de Arad, qui résidait dans le Midi, apprit qu'Israël s'avançait par la route d'Atharim; et il attaqua Israël et lui enleva des prisonniers.
And he heard the Canaanite [the] king of Arad [who] dwelt the Negev that it had come Israel [the] way of the Atharim and he engaged in battle against Israel and he took captive - some of it captive[s].
2 Alors Israël fit un vœu à l'Éternel et dit: Si tu livres ce peuple entre mes mains, je dévouerai ses villes.
And it vowed Israel a vow to Yahweh and it said certainly [if] you will give the people this in hand my and I will totally destroy cities their.
3 Et l'Éternel écouta la voix d'Israël, et livra les Cananéens, et on les dévoua eux et leurs villes, et ce lieu reçut le nom de Horma [lieu dévoué].
And he listened Yahweh to [the] voice of Israel and he delivered up the Canaanite[s] and it totally destroyed them and cities their and someone called [the] name of the place Hormah.
4 Et ils partirent du mont Hor prenant la route de la Mer aux algues pour tourner le pays d'Edom. Et le peuple perdit patience en chemin,
And they set out from Hor the mountain [the] direction of [the] sea of reed[s] to go around [the] land of Edom and it became short [the] self of the people on the way.
5 et le peuple tint des discours contre Dieu et contre Moïse: Pourquoi nous as-tu tirés de l'Egypte et exposés à mourir dans le désert? car il n'y a ici ni pain ni eau, et ce vil aliment nous dégoûte.
And it spoke the people against God and against Moses why? have you brought up us from Egypt to die in the wilderness for there not [is] food and there not [is] water and self our it loathes the food worthless.
6 Alors l'Éternel envoya parmi le peuple des serpents venimeux, et les morsures qu'ils firent dans le peuple, donnèrent la mort à beaucoup de gens en Israël.
And he sent Yahweh among the people the snakes the saraphs and they bit the people and it died a people numerous from Israel.
7 Alors le peuple vint à Moïse et dit: Nous avons péché, car nous avons tenu des discours contre l'Éternel et contre toi; intercède, auprès de l'Éternel pour qu'il éloigne de nous ces serpents. Et Moïse intercéda en faveur du peuple.
And it came the people to Moses and they said we have sinned for we have spoken against Yahweh and against you pray to Yahweh so may he remove from on us the snake[s] and he prayed Moses for the people.
8 Et l'Éternel dit à Moïse: Fais-toi un serpent et place-le au haut d'une perche, et il arrivera que quiconque aura été mordu et le regardera, reprendra vie.
And he said Yahweh to Moses make for yourself a saraph and put it on a standard and it will be every [one who] is bitten and he will see it and he will live.
9 Alors Moïse fit un serpent d'airain, et il le plaça au haut d'une perche, et il arrivait que celui qui avait été mordu par un serpent et regardait vers le serpent d'airain, reprenait vie.
And he made Moses a snake of bronze and he put it on the standard and it was if it had bitten the snake anyone and he looked to [the] snake of bronze and he lived.
10 Et les enfants d'Israël partirent et vinrent camper à Oboth.
And they set out [the] people of Israel and they encamped in Oboth.
11 Et ayant quitté Oboth, ils vinrent camper à Ijei-Abarim dans le désert situé à l'Orient de Moab du côté du soleil levant.
And they set out from Oboth and they encamped at Iye Abarim in the wilderness which [is] on [the] face of Moab from [the] rising of the sun.
12 Étant partis de là ils vinrent camper dans la vallée de Zared.
From there they set out and they encamped in [the] wadi of Zered.
13 Étant partis de là ils vinrent camper au delà de l'Arnon qui coule dans le désert après sa sortie du territoire des Amoréens; car l'Arnon est la limite de Moab, entre Moab et les Amoréens.
From there they set out and they encamped from [the] other side of Arnon which [is] in the wilderness which goes out from [the] border of the Amorite[s] that Arnon [is] [the] border of Moab between Moab and between the Amorite[s].
14 C'est pourquoi il, est dit dans le Livre des Combats de l'Éternel: Vaheb en Sufa et les torrents d'Arnon
There-fore it is said in [the] book of [the] wars of Yahweh Waheb in Suphah and the wadis Arnon.
15 et l'épanchement des torrents, qui tourne vers la Résidence d'Ar, et s'appuie aux confins de Moab.
And [the] slope of the wadis which it extends to [the] dwelling of Ar and it leans to [the] border of Moab.
16 Et de là ils vinrent à Béer (puits). C'est le puits où l'Éternel dit à Moïse: Assemble le peuple, et je leur donnerai de l'eau.
And from there Beer towards that [is] the well which he said Yahweh to Moses gather the people so let me give to them water.
17 Alors Israël chanta ce cantique: Jaillis, fontaine! Acclamez-la!
Then it sang Israel the song this spring up O well sing of it.
18 fontaine creusée par des princes, qu'ont fouie les chefs du peuple avec le sceptre et leurs bâtons!
A well [which] they dug it [the] leaders [which] they dug it [the] noble [people] of the people with a ruler's staff with staffs their and from [the] wilderness Mattanah.
19 Et du désert on vint à Mathana, et de Mathana à Nahaliel, et de Nahaliel à Bamoth;
And from Mattanah Nahaliel and from Nahaliel Bamoth.
20 et de Bamoth à la vallée située dans le pays de Moab, au sommet du Pisga qui domine la plaine du désert.
And from Bamoth the valley which [is] in [the] region of Moab [the] top of Pisgah and it looked down over [the] face of the desolate place.
21 Et Israël, envoya des messagers à Sihon, Roi, des Amoréens, pour lui dire:
And it sent Israel messengers to Sihon [the] king of the Amorite[s] saying.
22 Laisse-moi, passer par ton pays; nous ne nous répandrons point dans les champs et les vignes, ne boirons point l'eau des puits; nous suivrons la route royale jusqu'à ce que nous ayons passé ta frontière.
Let me pass in land your not we will turn aside in a field and in a vineyard not we will drink water of a well on [the] way of the king we will go until that we will pass through territory your.
23 Mais Sihon n'accorda pas à Israël le passage sur son territoire, et Sihon rassembla tout son peuple et marcha à la rencontre d'Israël du côté du désert, et pénétra jusqu'à Jahats et livra bataille à Israël.
And not he permitted Sihon Israel to pass in territory his and he gathered Sihon all people his and he went out to meet Israel the wilderness towards and he came Jahaz towards and he engaged in battle against Israel.
24 Et Israël le battit, avec le tranchant de l'épée et conquit son pays de l'Arnon au Jabbok, jusqu'aux Ammonites; car la frontière des Ammonites était fortifiée.
And it struck him Israel to [the] mouth of [the] sword and it took possession of land his from Arnon to Jabbok to [the] descendants of Ammon for [was] strong [the] border of [the] descendants of Ammon.
25 Et Israël occupa toutes ces villes, et s'établit dans toutes les villes des Amoréens, à Hesbon et dans toutes ses dépendances.
And it took Israel all the cities these and it dwelt Israel in all [the] cities of the Amorite[s] in Heshbon and in all daughters its.
26 Car Hesbon était la ville de Sihon, Roi des Amoréens, et il avait fait la guerre au précédent roi de Moab et lui avait pris tout son pays jusqu'à l'Arnon.
For Heshbon [was] [the] city of Sihon [the] king of the Amorite[s] it and he he had waged war against [the] king of Moab former and he had taken all land his from hand his to Arnon.
27 C'est pourquoi les poètes disent: Entrez dans Hesbon! Qu'on relève et fortifie la cité de Sihon!
There-fore they say those [who] speak proverbs come Heshbon let it be rebuilt and it may be established [the] city of Sihon.
28 Car un feu est sorti de Hesbon, Une flamme de la cité de Sihon: Il a dévoré le fort de Moab, Des maîtres des hauteurs de l'Arnon.
For fire it went out from Heshbon flame from [the] town of Sihon it consumed Ar of Moab [the] citizens of [the] high places of Arnon.
29 Malheur à toi, Moab! C'en est fait de toi, peuple de Camos! De ses fils il a fait des fugitifs Et de ses filles des captives de Sihon, Roi des Amoréens…
Woe! to you O Moab you have perished O people of Chemosh he has made sons his fugitives and daughters his in captivity of [the] king of [the] Amorite[s] Sihon.
30 Nous lançâmes nos traits, … Hesbon est détruite jusqu'à Dibon, et nous ravageâmes jusqu'à Nopha, l'incendie atteignit Médéba.
And we shot at them it has perished Heshbon to Dibon and we have devastated to Nophah which [is] to Medeba.
31 Et pendant le séjour d'Israël dans le pays des Amoréens
And it dwelt Israel in [the] land of the Amorite[s].
32 Moïse envoya reconnaître Jaëzer, et ils s'emparèrent de ses dépendances, et il expulsa les Amoréens qui y étaient.
And he sent Moses to spy out Jazer and they captured daughters its (and it dispossessed *Q(K)*) the Amorite[s] who [was] there.
33 Et se détournant, ils montèrent du côté de Basan, et Og, Roi de Basan, vint à leur rencontre, lui et tout son peuple, pour les attaquer, à Edreï.
And they turned and they went up [the] direction of Bashan and he went out Og [the] king of Bashan to meet them he and all people his for battle Edrei.
34 Alors l'Éternel dit à Moïse: Ne le crains pas; car je le livre entre tes mains, lui et tout son peuple et son pays, et tu le traiteras comme tu as traité Sihon, roi des Amoréens qui résidait à Hesbon.
And he said Yahweh to Moses may not you fear him for in hand your I have given him and all people his and land his and you will do to him just as you did to Sihon [the] king of the Amorite[s] who [was] dwelling in Heshbon.
35 Et ils le battirent lui et ses fils et tout son peuple jusqu'à ne pas lui laisser un réchappé, et ils occupèrent son pays.
And they struck down him and sons his and all people his until not he had left to him a survivor and they took possession of land his.
