1 Là Marie et Aaron firent querelle à Moïse au sujet de la femme Éthiopienne qu'il avait épousée; car il avait pris pour femme une Éthiopienne.
Afterward Miriam and Aaron spake against Moses, because of the woman of Ethiopia whome hee had maried (for hee had married a woman of Ethiopia)
2 Et ils dirent: N'est-ce que par Moïse seul que l'Éternel parle? n'est-ce pas aussi par nous qu'il parle? Et l'Éternel entendit.
And they saide, What? hath the Lord spoken but onely by Moses? hath he not spoken also by vs? and the Lord heard this.
3 Or cet homme-là, Moïse, était le plus doux des humains qui sont sur la face de la terre.
(But Moses was a verie meeke man, aboue all the men that were vpon the earth)
4 Sur-le-champ l'Éternel dit à Moïse, et à Aaron et à Marie: Allez tous trois vous présenter à la Tente du Rendez-vous; et ils allèrent tous trois.
And by and by the Lord sayd vnto Moses, and vnto Aaron, and vnto Miriam, come out yee three vnto the Tabernacle of the Congregation: and they three came forth.
5 Alors l'Éternel descendit dans la colonne de nuée, et se tenant à la porte de la Tente Il appela Aaron et Marie, et ils parurent tous deux.
Then the Lord came downe in the pillar of the cloude, and stoode in the doore of the Tabernacle, and called Aaron and Miriam, and they both came forth.
6 Et Il dit: Entendez mes paroles! S'il existe parmi vous un prophète, moi l'Éternel, je me révèle à lui par la vision: c'est dans un songe que je lui parle.
And hee saide, Heare nowe my wordes, If there be a Prophet of the Lord among you, I will be knowen to him by a vision, and will speake vnto him by dreame.
7 Il n'en est pas ainsi de mon serviteur Moïse: il est l'homme de confiance dans toute ma Maison.
My seruant Moses is not so, who is faithfull in all mine house.
8 Je m'abouche avec lui, en Personne, et sans déguisement; il voit la face de l'Éternel. Comment donc ne craignez-vous pas de faire querelle à mon serviteur Moïse?
Vnto him will I speake mouth to mouth, and by vision, and not in darke wordes, but hee shall see the similitude of the Lord. Wherefore then were ye not afraid to speake against my seruant, euen against Moses?
9 Ainsi s'enflamma contre eux la colère de l'Éternel qui s'éloigna; et la nuée se retira aussi de la Tente,
Thus the Lord was very angrie with them, and departed.
10 et voilà que Marie avait une lèpre comme la neige; et Aaron se tourna vers Marie, et voilà qu'elle avait la lèpre!
Also the cloude departed from the Tabernacle: and beholde, Miriam was leprous like snowe: and Aaron looked vpon Miriam, and beholde, she was leprous.
11 Alors Aaron dit à Moïse: Je t'en conjure, mon seigneur, ne mets pas sur nous le poids du péché que nous avons commis dans notre folie, et dont nous sommes coupables.
Then Aaron saide vnto Moses, Alas, my Lord, I beseech thee, lay not the sinne vpon vs, which we haue foolishly committed and wherein we haue sinned.
12 Oh! qu'elle ne soit pas comme le mort-né qui en sortant du sein maternel a le corps à demi détruit.
Let her not, I pray thee, be as one dead, of whome the flesh is halfe consumed, when he commeth out of his mothers wombe.
13 Alors Moïse cria vers l'Éternel et dit: O Dieu! oh! guéris-la donc!
Then Moses cryed vnto the Lord, saying, O God, I beseech thee, heale her nowe.
14 Et l'Éternel dit à Moïse: Mais si son père avait craché à sa face, ne serait-elle pas sept jours dans l'opprobre?… Elle sera séquestrée sept jours hors du camp; après quoi elle sera réintégrée.
And the Lord said vnto Moses, If her father had spit in her face, shoulde she not haue bene ashamed seuen dayes? let her be shut out of the hoste seuen dayes, and after she shall bee receiued.
15 Marie fut donc séquestrée sept jours hors du camp, et le peuple ne partit point avant la réintégration de Marie.
So Miriam was shut out of the hoste seuen dayes, and the people remooued not, till Miriam was brought in againe.
16 Et après cela le peuple partit de Hathseroth et vint camper au désert de Paran.
Then afterwarde the people remooued from Hazeroth, and pitched in the wildernesse of Paran.
