Néhémie 7
1 Et lorsque le mur fut restauré, je posai les battants des portes, et les Portiers, et les Chantres et les Lévites furent mis en fonctions.
Now it happened, when the wall was built, and I had set up the doors, and the gatekeepers and the singers and the Levites were appointed,
2 Et je donnai mes ordres à Hanani, mon frère, et à Hanania, commandant de la citadelle de Jérusalem, (car c'était un homme fidèle et craignant Dieu plus que beaucoup)
that I put my brother Hanani, and Hananiah the commander of the fortress, in charge of Jerusalem; for he was a faithful man, and feared God above many.
3 et je leur dis: Les portes de Jérusalem ne s'ouvriront pas avant que le soleil soit ardent; et pendant qu'on est encore debout, il faudra les fermer et les clore. Et formez un guet des habitants de Jérusalem, et que chacun soit à son poste vis-à-vis de sa maison.
I said to them, "Do not let the gates of Jerusalem be opened until the sun is hot; and while they stand guard, let them shut the doors, and you bar them: and appoint watches of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, everyone in his watch, with everyone near his house."
4 Or la ville était spacieuse et grande, mais ne contenait que peu de population, et l'on n'avait pas encore bâti de maisons.
Now the city was wide and large; but the people were few in it, and the houses were not built.
5 Alors mon Dieu me mit dans le cœur l'idée d'assembler les nobles et les chefs et le peuple pour un recensement. Et je trouvai un registre de ceux qui étaient rentrés les premiers, et voici ce que j'y trouvai consigné.
My God put into my heart to gather together the nobles, and the rulers, and the people, that they might be reckoned by genealogy. I found the book of the genealogy of those who came up at the first, and I found written in it:
6 Ce sont ici les ressortissants de la province revenus de la captivité, de la déportation, que Nebucadnetsar, roi de Babel, avait emmenés et qui revinrent à Jérusalem et en Juda, chacun dans sa ville,
These are the people of the province, who went up out of the captivity of those who had been carried away, whom Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon had carried away, and who returned to Jerusalem and to Judah, everyone to his city;
7 lesquels vinrent avec Zorobabel: Jésuah, Néhémie, Azaria, Raamia, Nahemani, Mordechaï, Bilsan, Mispéreth, Bigvaï, Nehum, Baëna. Nombre des hommes du peuple d'Israël:
who came with Zerubbabel, Jeshua, Nehemiah, Seraiah, Reelaiah, Nahamani, Mordecai, Bilshan, Mispar, Bigvai, Rehum, Baanah. The number of the men of the people of Israel:
8 les fils de Paréos, deux mille cent soixante-douze;
The descendants of Parosh, two thousand one hundred seventy-two.
9 les fils de Sephatia, trois cent soixante-douze;
The descendants of Shephatiah, three hundred seventy-two.
10 les fils d'Arach, six cent cinquante-deux;
The descendants of Arah, six hundred fifty-two.
11 les fils de Pachath-Moab, des fils de Jésuah et de Joab, deux mille huit cent dix-huit;
The descendants of Pahath-Moab, of the descendants of Jeshua and Joab, two thousand eight hundred eighteen.
12 les fils de Eilam, mille deux cent cinquante-quatre;

the descendants of Shephatiah, the descendants of Hattil, the descendants of Pokereth Hazzebaim, the descendants of Amon.
60 tous les assujettis et fils des serviteurs de Salomon: trois cent quatre-vingt-douze.
All the Nethinim, and the descendants of Solomon's servants, were three hundred ninety-two.
61 Et voici ceux qui revinrent de Thel-Mélah, Thel-Harsa, Chérub-Addon et Immer (mais ils ne purent indiquer leurs maisons patriarcales, ni leur souche, ni s'ils étaient d'Israël):
These were those who went up from Tel Melah, Tel Harsha, Cherub, Addan, and Immer; but they could not prove their ancestral houses, nor their descent, whether they were of Israel:
62 les fils de Delaïa, les fils de Tobie, les fils de Necoda, six cent quarante-deux;
The descendants of Delaiah, the descendants of Tobiah, the descendants of Nekoda, six hundred forty-two.
63 et des Prêtres: les fils de Hobaïa, les fils de Haccots, les fils de Barzillaï qui prit femme parmi les filles de Barzillaï de Galaad et fut appelé de leur nom.
Of the priests: the descendants of Hobaiah, the descendants of Hakkoz, the descendants of Barzillai, who took a wife of the daughters of Barzillai the Gileadite, and was called after their name.
64 Ceux-là cherchèrent leur acte généalogique, mais il ne se trouva pas, et ils furent exclus du sacerdoce.
These searched for their genealogical records, but couldn't find them. Therefore were they deemed polluted and put from the priesthood.
65 Et le Thirsatha (gouverneur) leur défendit de manger des choses sacro-saintes jusqu'à ce que reparût un Prêtre pour consulter l'Urim et le Thummim.
The governor said to them, that they should not eat of the most holy things, until there stood up a priest with Urim and Thummim.
66 Toute l'Assemblée en masse était de quarante-deux mille trois cent soixante,
The whole assembly together was forty-two thousand three hundred sixty,
67 sans leurs serviteurs et leurs servantes dont il y avait sept mille trois cent trente-sept. A eux appartenaient deux cent quarante-cinq chantres et chanteresses.
besides their male servants and their female servants, of whom there were seven thousand three hundred thirty-seven: and they had two hundred forty-five singing men and singing women.
68 Ils avaient sept cent trente-six chevaux, deux cent quarante-cinq mulets,
Their horses were seven hundred thirty-six; their mules, two hundred forty-five;
69 quatre cent trente-cinq chameaux, six mille sept cent vingt ânes.
their camels, four hundred thirty-five; their donkeys, six thousand seven hundred twenty.
70 Et sur le nombre des chefs des maisons patriarcales plusieurs firent des dons pour l'entreprise.
Some from among the heads of ancestral houses gave to the work. The governor gave to the treasury one thousand darics of gold, fifty basins, and five hundred thirty priests' garments.
71 Le Thirsatha donna pour le trésor, en or mille dariques, cinquante jattes, cinq cent trente costumes de Prêtres. Et parmi les chefs des maisons patriarcales plusieurs donnèrent pour la caisse de l'entreprise, en or vingt mille dariques, et en argent deux mille deux cents mines.
Some of the heads of ancestral houses gave into the treasury of the work twenty thousand darics of gold, and two thousand two hundred minas of silver.
72 Et ce que le reste du peuple donna, était, en or vingt mille dariques, et. en argent deux mille mines, et soixante-sept costumes de Prêtres.
That which the rest of the people gave was twenty thousand darics of gold, and two thousand minas of silver, and sixty-seven priests' garments.
73 Et ainsi les Prêtres et les Lévites, et les Portiers et les Chantres et les gens du peuple et les assujettis et tous les Israélites habitèrent dans leurs villes.
So the priests, and the Levites, and the gatekeepers, and the singers, and some of the people, and the Nethinim, and all Israel, lived in their cities. When the seventh month had come, the children of Israel were in their cities.
