1 Table généalogique de Jésus-Christ, fils de David, fils d'Abraham:
The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.
2 Abraham engendra Isaac; Isaac engendra Jacob; Jacob engendra Juda et ses frères;
Abraham begat Isaac; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat Judah and his brethren;
3 Juda engendra de Thamar Pharès et Zaré; Pharès engendra Esrom; Esrom engendra Aram;
And Judah begat Perez and Zerah of Tamar; and Perez begat Hezron; and Hezron begat Ram;
4 Aram engendra Aminadab; Aminadab engendra Naasson; Naasson engendra Salmon;
And Ram begat Amminadab; and Amminadab begat Nahshon; and Nahshon begat Salmon;
5 Salmon engendra Boes de Rachab; Boes engendra Jobed de Ruth; Jobed engendra Jessé;
And Salmon begat Boaz of Rahab; and Boaz begat Obed of Ruth; and Obed begat Jesse;
6 Jessé engendra le roi David. David engendra Salomon de la femme d'Urie;
And Jesse begat David the king; and David the king begat Solomon of her that had been the wife of Uriah;
7 Salomon engendra Roboam; Roboam engendra Abia;
And Solomon begat Rehoboam; and Rehoboam begat Abijah; and Abjah begat Asa;
8 Abia engendra Asaph; Asaph engendra Josaphat; Josaphat engendra Joram; Joram engendra Ozias;
And Asa begat Jehoshaphat; and Jehoshaphat begat Joram; and Joram begat Uzziah;
9 Ozias engendra Joatham; Joatham engendra Achaz; Achaz engendra Ézéchias;
And Uzziah begat Jotham; and Jotham begat Ahaz; and Ahaz begat Hezekiah;
10 Ézéchias engendra Manassé; Manassé engendra Amos; Amos engendra Josias;
And Hezekiah begat Manasseh; and Manasseh begat Amon; and Amon begat Josiah;
11 Josias engendra Jéchonias et ses frères, lors de la déportation de Babylone.
And Josiah begat Jechoniah and his brethren, about the time they were carried away to Babylon:
12 Après la déportation de Babylone Jéchonias engendre Sélathiel; Sélathiel engendre Zorobabel;
And after they were brought to Babylon, Jechoniah begat Sheatiel; and Sheatiel begat Zerubbabel;
13 Zorobabel engendre Abioud; Abioud engendra Éliacim; Éliacim engendra Azor;
And Zerubbabel begat Abiud; and Abiud begat Eliakim; and Eliakim begat Azor;
14 Azor engendra Sadoc; Sadoc engendra Achim; Achim engendra Élioud;
And Azor begat Sadoc; and Sadoc begat Achim; and Achim begat Eliud;
15 Élioud engendra Éléazar; Éléazar engendra Matthan; Matthan engendra Jacob;
And Eliud begat Eleazar; and Eleazar begat Matthan; and Matthan begat Jacob;
16 Jacob engendra Joseph, le mari de Marie, de laquelle naquit Jésus qui est appelé Christ.
And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.
17 Toutes les générations forment donc d'Abraham jusques à David, quatorze générations, et de David jusques à la déportation de Babylone, quatorze générations, et de la déportation de Babylone jusques au Christ, quatorze générations.
So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations.
18 Or, voici quelle fut la naissance du Christ Jésus: Sa mère Marie ayant été fiancée à Joseph, avant qu'ils eussent vécu ensemble elle se trouva enceinte par l'action de l'Esprit Saint.
Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.
19 Mais, comme Joseph son mari était un homme juste et qui ne voulait pas la déceler, il se résolut à la répudier secrètement.
Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily.
20 Or, après qu'il eut formé ce projet, voici, un ange du Seigneur lui apparut en songe, disant: « Joseph, fils de David, ne crains point de garder Marie pour ta femme, car ce qui a été engendré en elle vient de l'Esprit Saint;
But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
21 or elle mettra au monde un fils, et tu lui donneras le nom de Jésus, car c'est lui qui sauvera son peuple de leurs péchés. » —
And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
22 Or tout cela est advenu afin que fût accompli ce dont le Seigneur a parlé par l'entremise du prophète lorsqu'il dit:
Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
23 « Voici, la vierge sera enceinte, et elle mettra au monde un fils, et ils lui donneront le nom d'Emmanouel; » ce qui signifie, étant traduit: Avec nous Dieu. —
Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
24 Or Joseph s'étant éveillé de son sommeil agit comme le lui avait prescrit l'ange du Seigneur, et il garda sa femme;
Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:
25 et il ne la connaissait point jusqu'à ce qu'elle eût mis au monde un fils, et il lui donna le nom de Jésus.
And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.
