Matthieu 21
1 Et quand ils approchèrent de Jérusalem, et qu'ils furent arrivés à Bethphagé, sur la montagne des Oliviers, alors Jésus dépêcha deux disciples,
And, when they drew near unto Jerusalem, and came unto Bethphage, unto the Mount of Olives, then, Jesus sent forth two disciples;
2 en leur disant: « Allez dans le village qui est en face de vous, et vous trouverez aussitôt une ânesse attachée et un ânon avec elle; détachez-les et amenez-les-moi.
saying unto them—Be going into the village that is over against you, and, straightway, ye shall find an ass, bound, and a colt with her, —loose them, and lead them unto me.
3 Et si quelqu'un vous dit quelque chose, vous direz: Le Seigneur en a besoin; et aussitôt il les enverra. » —
And, if anyone, unto you, say aught, ye shall say—Their Lord, hath, need, —and, straightway, he will send them.
4 Or, tout cela est advenu, afin que fût accompli ce dont il a été parlé par l'entremise du prophète, lorsqu'il dit:
But, this, hath come to pass, that it might be fulfilled, which was spoken through the prophet, saying:
5 « Dites à la fille de Sion: Voici, ton roi vient à toi, doux et monté sur un âne et sur un ânon, fils d'une bête de somme. » —
Tell ye the daughter of Zion, Lo! thy King, is coming unto thee, meek and mounted upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of a toiling ass.
6 Or, les disciples s'en étant allés et ayant exécuté les ordres de Jésus
And the disciples, went, and did as Jesus directed them;
7 ramenèrent l'ânesse et l'ânon, et ils placèrent sur eux leurs manteaux, et il s'assit dessus.
and led the ass and the colt, and laid upon them their garments, and he took his seat upon them.
8 Or, la plus grande partie de la foule étendit ses manteaux sur le chemin, tandis que d'autres coupaient des branches aux arbres et les étendaient sur le chemin.
And, the chief multitude, spread their own mantles in the way, and, others, were cutting off young branches from the trees, and spreading them in the way;
9 Mais la foule qui le précédait et celle qui le suivait s'écriait: « Hosanna au fils de David! Béni soit celui qui vient au nom du Seigneur! Hosanna dans les lieux très-hauts! »
and the multitudes, they who were going before him and they who were following after, were crying aloud, saying—Hosanna! to the Son of David, Blessed is he that is coming in the name of the Lord, Hosanna in the highest.
10 Et lorsqu'il fut entré dans Jérusalem toute la ville fut en émoi, et elle disait: « Qui est celui-ci? »
And, when he entered into Jerusalem, all the city was startled, saying—Who is this?
11 Or la foule disait: « Celui-ci, c'est le prophète Jésus, qui est de Nazareth en Galilée. »
And, the multitudes, were saying—This, is the prophet Jesus, —He from Nazareth of Galilee.
12 Et Jésus entra dans le temple, et il expulsa tous ceux qui vendaient et qui achetaient dans le temple, et il renversa les tables des changeurs, et les sièges de ceux qui vendaient les colombes;
And Jesus entered into the temple, and cast out all who were selling and buying in the temple, —and, the tables of the money-changers, he overthrew, and the seats of them who were selling doves;
13 et il leur dit: « Il est écrit: Ma maison sera appelée une maison de prière, mais vous, vous en faites une caverne de brigands. »
and saith unto them—It is written, My house, a house of prayer, shall be called; but, ye, are making it, A den of robbers!
14 Et des aveugles et des boiteux s'approchèrent de lui dans le temple, et il les guérit.
And there came unto him blind and lame, in the temple, and he cured them.
15 Mais les grands prêtres et les scribes, voyant les merveilles qu'il avait faites et les enfants qui criaient dans le temple: « Hosanna au fils de David! » en furent indignés,
But the Chief-priests and the Scribes, seeing, the marvels that he wrought, and the boys who were crying aloud in the temple, and saying, Hosanna to the Son of David! were greatly displeased;
16 et ils lui dirent: « Entends-tu ce qu'ils disent? » Mais Jésus leur dit: « Oui. N'avez-vous jamais lu: De la bouche des petits enfants et des nourrissons Tu T'es préparé une louange? »
and said unto him—Hearest thou what these are saying? And, Jesus, saith unto them—Yea: Have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings, hast thou prepared praise?
17 Et les ayant quittés, il sortit de la ville pour aller à Béthanie, et il y passa la nuit.
And, leaving them behind, he went forth outside the city into Bethany, and spent the night there.
18 Or, le matin, comme il avait repris le chemin de la ville, il eut faim,
And, early, returning into the city, he hungered;
19 et ayant vu un figuier sur le chemin il s'en approcha et il n'y trouva rien que des feuilles, et il lui dit: « Qu'il ne provienne plus jamais de toi aucun fruit! » Et subitement le figuier sécha. (aiōn g165)
and, seeing one fig-tree by the way, he came up to it, and nothing, found he thereon, save leaves only, —and he saith unto it—No more, from thee, let fruit spring forth, unto times age-abiding, —and the fig-tree, instantly withered away. (aiōn g165)
20 Ce que les disciples ayant vu, ils s'en étonnèrent en disant: « Comment ce figuier a-t-il subitement séché? »
And the disciples, seeing it, marvelled, saying—How instantly, did the fig-tree wither away.
21 Mais Jésus leur répliqua: « En vérité je vous déclare que si vous aviez de la foi et que vous ne doutiez point, non seulement vous feriez ce qui a été fait au figuier, mais encore si vous disiez à cette montagne: « Déplace-toi et te jette dans la mer, » cela se ferait.
And Jesus, answering, said unto them—Verily, I say unto you, If ye have faith, and do not doubt, not only, this of the fig-tree, shall ye do, —but, even if, unto this mountain, ye shall say, Be lifted up, and be cast into the sea, it shall be done.
22 Et tout ce que vous aurez demandé avec foi par la prière, vous le recevrez. »
And, all things whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.
23 Et, lorsqu'il fut arrivé dans le temple, les grands prêtres et les anciens du peuple s'approchèrent de lui pendant qu'il enseignait, en disant: « En vertu de quelle autorité-fais-tu ces choses, et qui est-ce qui t'a donné cette autorité? »
And, when he, entered, the temple, the Chief-priests and the Elders of the people, came unto him as he was teaching, saying, By what authority, these things, art thou doing? and, who, to thee, gave, this authority?
24 Mais Jésus leur répliqua: « Je vous adresserai de mon côté une seule question, et si vous y répondez, je vous répondrai à mon tour en vertu de quelle autorité je fais ces choses.
And, making answer, Jesus said unto them—I also, will ask, you, one thing, —which if ye tell me, I also, will tell, you, by what authority, these things, I am doing: —
25 Le baptême de Jean d'où venait-il? Du ciel ou des hommes? » Mais ils réfléchissaient en eux-mêmes et disaient:
The immersion by John, whence was it? Of heaven, or of men? But, they, began to deliberate among themselves, saying—If we say, Of heaven; He will say unto us, Wherefore then did ye not believe him?
26 « Si nous répondons: du ciel, il nous dira: Pourquoi donc ne l'avez-vous pas cru? Tandis que si nous répondons: des hommes, nous avons à craindre la foule; car tous tiennent Jean pour un prophète. »
But, if we say, Of men, we fear the multitude, for, all, as a prophet, are holding John.
27 Et ils répliquèrent à Jésus: « Nous ne savons. » Lui de son côté leur dit: « Moi non plus je ne vous dis pas en vertu de quelle autorité je fais ces choses.
And, making answer to Jesus, they said—We know not. He also, said unto them—Neither do, I, tell, you, by what authority, these things, I am doing.
28 Mais que vous en semble? Un homme avait deux enfants, et s'étant approché du premier, il lui dit: « Mon enfant, va travailler aujourd'hui dans ma vigne. »
But how, to you, doth it seem? A man, had two sons: coming unto the first, he said, Son! go thy way, to-day, be working in the vineyard.
29 Or celui-ci répliqua: « Oui, Seigneur, » et il n'y alla pas.
And, he, answering, said, I, sir! and went not;
30 Puis s'étant approché du second, il lui parla de même; or celui-ci répliqua: « Je ne veux pas, » mais plus tard, s'étant repenti, il y alla.
And, coming unto the second, he spake, in like manner, —and, he, answering, said, I will not: afterwards, smitten with regret, he went.
31 Lequel des deux a fait la volonté de son père? » Ils disent: « Le dernier. » Jésus leur dit: « En vérité, je vous déclare que les publicains et les prostituées entrent avant vous dans le royaume de Dieu;
Which of the two, did the will of the father? They say, The latter. Jesus saith unto them—Verily, I say unto you, the tax-collectors and the harlots, are going before you, into the kingdom of God;
32 car Jean est venu à vous, enseignant la justice, et vous ne l'avez pas cru, tandis que les publicains et les prostituées l'ont cru. Mais vous, qui avez vu cela, vous ne vous êtes pas même repentis plus tard pour le croire!
For John came unto you, in a way of righteousness, and ye believed him not, —but, the tax-collectors and the harlots, believed him; and, ye, seeing it, were not even smitten with regret, afterwards, so as to believe him.
33 Écoutez une autre parabole: Il y avait un chef de famille qui planta une vigne, et qui l'entoura d'une clôture, et qui y creusa un pressoir, et qui construisit une tour; et il l'afferma à des vignerons, et il s'en alla.
Another parable, hear ye: —A man there was, a householder, who planted a vineyard, and, a wall around it, placed, and digged in it a wine-vat, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, —and left home.
34 Mais, lorsque le moment de la récolte approcha, il dépêcha ses esclaves auprès des vignerons pour prendre sa récolte.
And, when the season of fruits drew near, He sent forth his servants unto the husbandmen to receive his fruits.
35 Et les vignerons s'étant saisis de ses esclaves battirent l'un, tuèrent l'autre, et lapidèrent le troisième.
And the husbandmen, taking his servants, one, indeed, they beat, and, another, slew, —and, another, stoned.
36 Il dépêcha derechef d'autres esclaves en plus grand nombre que les premiers, et ils les traitèrent de même.
Again, sent he forth other servants, more than the first, and they did unto them, likewise.
37 Mais à la fin, il leur dépêcha son fils, en se disant: Ils respecteront mon fils.
Afterwards, however, he sent forth unto them his son, saying, —They will pay deference unto my son!
38 Mais les vignerons, à la vue du fils, se dirent: Celui-ci est l'héritier, venez, tuons-le, et mettons-nous en possession de son héritage.
But, the husbandmen, seeing the son, said among themselves, —This, is, the heir: Come on! Let us slay him, and have his inheritance.
39 Et s'étant saisis de lui, ils le jetèrent hors de la vigne et le tuèrent.
And, taking him, they cast him forth outside the vineyard, —and slew him.
40 Eh bien! quand le propriétaire de la vigne sera venu, que fera-t-il à ces vignerons-là? »
When therefore the master of the vineyard shall come, what will he do unto those husbandmen?
41 Ils lui dirent: « Il fera misérablement périr ces misérables, et il affermera la vigne à d'autres vignerons, qui lui en remettront la récolte en sa saison. »
They say unto him—Miserable men! Miserably, will he destroy them; and will let out, the vineyard, to other husbandmen, who will render unto him the fruits in their seasons.
42 Jésus leur dit: « N'avez-vous jamais lu dans les écritures: La pierre que les constructeurs ont rejetée est celle qui est devenue le sommet de l'angle; c'est par la volonté du Seigneur qu'elle l'est devenue, et il est admirable nos yeux?
Jesus saith unto them—Have ye, never, read in the Scriptures, A stone which the builders rejected, the same, hath become, head of the corner: From the Lord, hath this come to pass, and is marvellous in our eyes.
43 C'est pourquoi je vous déclare que le royaume de Dieu vous sera enlevé et sera donné à une nation qui en produise les fruits.
Wherefore I say unto you, The kingdom of God, will be taken away from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof:
44 Et celui qui sera tombé sur cette pierre-là sera fracassé, tandis que celui sur lequel elle sera tombée, elle le fera voler en éclats. »
[And, he that falleth on this stone, will be sorely bruised; but, on whomsoever it may fall, it will utterly destroy him.]
45 Et après avoir entendu ses paraboles, les grands prêtres et les pharisiens comprirent que c'était d'eux qu'il parlait,
And the Chief-priests and the Pharisees, hearing his parables, took note, that, concerning them, he was speaking.
46 et, malgré leur désir de le faire arrêter, ils craignirent la foule, car on le tenait pour un prophète.
And, seeking to secure him, they feared the multitudes; since, for a prophet, were they holding him.
