Luc 9
1 Or ayant appelé les douze, il leur donna pouvoir et autorité sur tous les démons, et pour guérir des maladies.
Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases.
2 Et il les envoya prêcher le royaume de Dieu et opérer des guérisons;
And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick.
3 et il leur dit: « Ne prenez rien pour la route, ni bâton, ni besace, ni pain, ni argent, et n'ayez pas deux tuniques;
And he said to them, Take nothing for your journey, neither staffs, nor bag, neither bread, neither money; neither have two coats apiece.
4 et dans quelque maison que vous entriez, c'est là que vous devez rester et de là que vous devez sortir.
And whatever house ye enter into, there abide, and from there depart.
5 Et tous ceux qui ne vous recevront pas… étant sortis de cette ville-là, secouez la poussière de vos pieds en témoignage contre eux. »
And whoever will not receive you, when ye go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet for a testimony against them.
6 Or, étant partis, ils parcouraient les villages en annonçant la bonne nouvelle et en opérant partout des guérisons.
And they departed, and went through the towns, preaching the gospel, and healing every where.
7 Cependant Hérode le tétrarque apprit tout ce qui s'était passé, et il était très perplexe, parce que quelques-uns disaient que Jean était ressuscité des morts,
Now Herod the tetrarch heard of all that was done by him: and he was perplexed, because that it was said by some, that John had risen from the dead;
8 quelques-uns qu'Élie était apparu, d'autres que l'un des anciens prophètes avait surgi.
And by some, that Elijah had appeared; and by others, that one of the ancient prophets had risen again.
9 Mais Hérode dit: « Quant à Jean je l'ai fait décapiter; mais quel est celui-ci dont j'entends ainsi parler? » Et il cherchait à le voir.
And Herod said, John have I beheaded: but who is this, of whom I hear such things? And he desired to see him.
10 Et les apôtres étant revenus lui racontèrent tout ce qu'ils avaient fait. Et les prenant avec lui il se retira à l'écart dans une ville appelée Bethsaïda.
And the apostles, when they had returned, told him all that they had done. And he took them, and went aside privately into a desert place belonging to the city called Bethsaida.
11 Mais la foule l'ayant su le suivit, et les ayant accueillis il leur parlait du royaume de Dieu, et il guérissait ceux qui avaient besoin de guérison.
And the people, when they knew it, followed him: and he received them, and spoke to them of the kingdom of God, and healed them that had need of healing.
12 Or, le jour commençait à baisser, mais les douze s'étant approchés lui dirent: « Renvoie la foule, afin qu'ils aillent dans les villages et dans les campagnes d'alentour pour s'héberger et trouver de la nourriture, car nous sommes ici dans un lieu désert. »
And when the day began to decline, then came the twelve, and said to him, Send the multitude away, that they may go into the surrounding towns and country, and lodge, and get food: for we are here in a deserted place.
13 Mais il leur dit: « Donnez-leur vous-mêmes à manger. » Et ils dirent: « Nous n'avons pas plus de cinq pains et de deux poissons, à moins que nous n'allions nous-mêmes acheter des vivres pour tout ce peuple. »
But he said to them, Give ye them to eat. And they said, We have no more than five loaves and two fishes; except we should go and buy food for all this people.
14 Ils étaient en effet environ cinq mille hommes. Mais il dit à ses disciples: « Faites-les asseoir par rangs d'environ cinquante. »
For they were about five thousand men. And he said to his disciples, Make them sit down by fifties in a company.
15 C'est ce qu'ils firent, et ils les firent tous asseoir.
And they did so, and made them all sit down.
16 Or, après avoir pris les cinq pains et les deux poissons, ayant levé les yeux vers le ciel, il les bénit et les rompit, et il les donnait à ses disciples pour les offrir à la foule.
Then he took the five loaves and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed them, and broke, and gave to the disciples to set before the multitude.
17 Et ils mangèrent et furent tous rassasiés, et on emporta les morceaux qu'ils avaient eu de trop dans douze corbeilles.
And they ate, and were all satisfied: and there was taken up of fragments that remained to them twelve baskets.
18 Et il advint, pendant qu'il priait à l'écart, que les disciples se réunirent à lui, et il les interrogea en disant: « Qui dit la foule que je suis? »
And it came to pass, as he was alone praying, his disciples were with him: and he asked them, saying, Who say the people that I am?
19 Et ils répliquèrent: « Jean le baptiste; d'autres Élie; et d'autres qu'un des anciens prophètes a surgi. »
They answering said, John the Baptist; but some say, Elijah; and others say, that one of the old prophets is risen again.
20 Mais il leur dit: « Mais vous, qui dites-vous que je suis? » Or Pierre lui répliqua: « Le Christ de Dieu. »
He said to them, But who say ye that I am? Peter answering said, The Christ of God.
21 Mais, après leur avoir adressé des remontrances, il leur défendit de dire cela à personne,
And he strictly charged them, and commanded them to tell no man that thing;
22 disant: « Il faut que le fils de l'homme souffre beaucoup, et qu'il soit réprouvé par les anciens et les grands prêtres et les scribes, et qu'il soit mis à mort, et qu'il ressuscite le troisième jour. »
Saying, The Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day.
23 Mais il disait à tous: « Si quelqu'un veut venir après moi, qu'il renonce à lui-même, et qu'il prenne sa croix chaque jour, et qu'il me suive;
And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.
24 car celui qui voudra sauver sa vie la perdra, mais celui qui aura perdu sa vie à cause de moi, celui-là la sauvera;
For whoever will save his life shall lose it: but whoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.
25 en effet que sert-il à un homme d'avoir gagné le monde entier, mais de s'être lui-même perdu ou ruiné?
For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away?
26 Quiconque en effet aura eu honte de moi et de mes paroles, le fils de l'homme aura honte de lui, quand il sera venu entouré de sa gloire et de celle de son Père et des saints anges.
For whoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in that of his Father, and of the holy angels.
27 Or je vous déclare en vérité qu'il y a quelques-uns de ceux qui sont ici présents qui ne goûteront certainement pas la mort jusques à ce qu'ils aient vu le royaume de Dieu. »
But I tell you truly, there are some standing here, who shall not taste death, till they see the kingdom of God.
28 Or il advint, après ces discours, qu'au bout d'environ huit jours, prenant avec lui Pierre et Jean et Jacques, il monta sur la montagne pour prier.
And it came to pass about eight days after these sayings, he took Peter and John and James, and went up upon a mountain to pray.
29 Et pendant qu'il priait, l'apparence de son visage changea et son vêtement devint de la blancheur de l'éclair.
And as he prayed, the appearance of his countenance was altered, and his raiment was white and shining.
30 Et voici, deux hommes conversaient avec lui; c'étaient Moïse et Élie,
And, behold, there talked with him two men, who were Moses and Elijah:
31 qui apparaissant entourés de gloire parlaient de sa fin, qu'il allait accomplir à Jérusalem.
Who appeared in glory, and spoke of his decease which he should accomplish at Jerusalem.
32 Or Pierre et ses compagnons étaient appesantis par le sommeil; mais quand ils se furent réveillés ils virent sa gloire et les deux hommes qui se tenaient avec lui.
But Peter and they that were with him were heavy with sleep: and when they were awake, they saw his glory, and the two men that stood with him.
33 Et il advint, pendant qu'ils se séparaient de lui, que Pierre dit à Jésus: « Maître, c'est une bonne chose pour nous que d'être ici; faisons trois tentes, une pour toi, et une pour Moïse, et une pour Élie, » ne sachant ce qu'il disait.
And it came to pass, as they departed from him, Peter said to Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah: not knowing what he said.
34 Mais pendant qu'il parlait ainsi, une nuée survint, et elle les couvrait, et ils furent effrayés au moment où ils entrèrent dans la nuée.
While he was thus speaking, there came a cloud, and overshadowed them: and they feared as they entered into the cloud.
35 Et une voix sortit de la nuée disant: « Celui-ci est Mon Fils élu, écoutez-le. »
And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him.
36 Et après que la voix se fut fait entendre, Jésus se trouva seul. Et eux se turent et ne rapportèrent à personne, en ce temps-là, rien de ce qu'ils avaient vu.
And when the voice was past, Jesus was found alone. And they kept it close, and told no man in those days any of those things which they had seen.
37 Or il advint le jour suivant, après qu'ils furent descendus de la montagne, qu'une foule nombreuse vint à sa rencontre;
And it came to pass, that on the next day, when they had come down from the mountain, many people met him.
38 et voici, un homme s'écria du sein de la foule: « Maître, je te prie, jette un regard sur mon fils, car c'est mon fils unique,
And, behold, a man of the company cried out, saying, Master, I beseech thee, look upon my son: for he is my only child.
39 et voici, un esprit le saisit et aussitôt il crie; et il le jette en convulsion en le faisant écumer, et à peine cesse-t-il un moment de le maltraiter.
And, lo, a spirit taketh him, and he suddenly crieth out; and it teareth him that he foameth, and bruising him hardly departeth from him.
40 Et j'ai prié tes disciples de le chasser et ils n'ont pas pu.
And I besought thy disciples to cast him out; and they could not.
41 Mais Jésus répliqua: « O génération incrédule et pervertie! Jusques à quand serai-je avec vous, et vous supporterai-je? Amène ici ton fils. »
And Jesus answering said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you, and put up with you? Bring thy son here.
42 Et comme il s'approchait, le démon le terrassa et le jeta en convulsion. Mais Jésus réprimanda l'esprit impur, et guérit l'enfant, et le rendit à son père.
And as he was yet coming, the demon threw him down, and tore him. And Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, and healed the child, and delivered him again to his father.
43 Et tous étaient stupéfaits de la grandeur de Dieu.
And they were all amazed at the mighty power of God. But while they were all amazed at all things which Jesus did, he said to his disciples,
44 Mais, pendant que tous s'émerveillaient de tout ce qu'il faisait, il dit à ses disciples: « Pour vous, mettez-vous dans les oreilles ces paroles, c'est que le fils de l'homme va être livré aux mains des hommes. »
Let these sayings sink down into your ears: for the Son of man shall be delivered into the hands of men.
45 Mais ils ne comprenaient pas cette parole, et elle leur demeurait cachée afin qu'ils ne la comprissent pas, et ils craignaient de l'interroger là-dessus.
But they understood not this saying, and it was hid from them, that they perceived it not: and they feared to ask him concerning that saying.
46 Or une pensée s'empara d'eux, à savoir lequel d'entre eux était le plus grand?
Then there arose a reasoning among them, which of them should be greatest.
47 Mais Jésus, connaissant la pensée de leur cœur, prit un petit enfant et le plaça auprès de lui,
And Jesus, perceiving the thought of their heart, took a child, and set him by him,
48 et il leur dit: « Quiconque aura reçu ce petit enfant en mon nom, me reçoit, et quiconque m'aura reçu, reçoit Celui qui m'a envoyé. Celui, en effet, qui parmi vous tous est le plus petit, c'est celui-là qui est grand. »
And said to them, Whoever shall receive this child in my name receiveth me: and whoever shall receive me receiveth him that sent me: for he that is least among you all, the same shall be great.
49 Or Jean répliqua: « Maître, nous avons vu quelqu'un qui chassait des démons en ton nom, et nous l'en empêchions parce qu'il ne nous suit pas. »
And John answered and said, Master, we saw one casting out demons in thy name; and we forbad him, because he followeth not with us.
50 Mais Jésus lui dit: « Ne l'en empêchez pas; car celui qui n'est pas contre vous est pour vous. »
And Jesus said to him, Forbid him not: for he that is not against us is for us.
51 Or il advint, lorsque l'époque de son enlèvement approchait de son terme, que lui-même prit la résolution de se rendre à Jérusalem,
And it came to pass, when the time was come that he should be received up, he steadfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem,
52 et il dépêcha des messagers devant lui. Et étant partis ils entrèrent dans un village des Samaritains pour lui préparer un logement;
And sent messengers before his face: and they went, and entered into a village of the Samaritans, to make ready for him.
53 et on ne le reçut point, parce qu'il se dirigeait de sa personne vers Jérusalem.
And they did not receive him, because his face was as though he would go to Jerusalem.
54 Or les disciples Jacques et Jean l'ayant vu, dirent: « Seigneur, veux-tu que nous disions qu'un feu descende du ciel et les consume? »
And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elijah did?
55 Mais s'étant retourné vers eux, il les réprimanda,
But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of.
56 et ils se rendirent dans un autre village.
For the Son of man is not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them. And they went to another village.
57 Et pendant qu'ils étaient en chemin quelqu'un lui dit: « Je te suivrai où que ce soit que tu t'en ailles. »
And it came to pass, that, as they were going in the way, a certain man said to him, Lord, I will follow thee wherever thou goest.
58 Et Jésus lui dit: « Les renards ont des terriers et les oiseaux du ciel des abris, mais le fils de l'homme n'a pas où reposer sa tête. »
And Jesus said to him, Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath no where to lay his head.
59 Or il dit à un autre: « Suis-moi; » mais celui-ci dit: « Seigneur, permets-moi de m'en aller d'abord enterrer mon père. »
And he said to another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, permit me first to go and bury my father.
60 Mais il lui dit: « Laisse les morts enterrer leurs morts, mais, pour toi, va-t-en annoncer le royaume de Dieu. »
Jesus said to him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God.
61 Or un autre encore dit: « Je te suivrai, Seigneur; mais permets-moi d'abord de prendre congé des gens de ma maison. »
And another also said, Lord, I will follow thee; but let me first go and bid them farewell, who are at my house.
62 Mais Jésus dit: « Celui qui, après avoir mis la main à la charrue, regarde en arrière, n'est pas fait pour le royaume de Dieu. »
And Jesus said to him, No man, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.
