Lévitique 26

1 Vous ne vous ferez point d'idoles, et ne vous élèverez ni sculpture, ni statue, et ne dresserez dans votre pays point de pierres ciselées, pour les adorer, car je suis l'Éternel, votre Dieu.

'Ye do not make to yourselves idols; and graven image or standing image ye do not set up to yourselves; and a stone of imagery ye do not put in your land, to bow yourselves to it; for I [am] Jehovah your God.

2 Observez mes sabbats et révérez mes Sanctuaires. Je suis l'Éternel.

'My sabbaths ye do keep, and My sanctuary ye do reverence; I [am] Jehovah.

3 Si vous suivez mes statuts, et si vous gardez mes commandements et les mettez en pratique,

'If in My statutes ye walk, and My commands ye keep, and have done them,

4 je vous donnerai vos pluies en leur saison, et la terre donnera ses produits et les arbres des campagnes leurs fruits.

then I have given your rains in their season, and the land hath given her produce, and the tree of the field doth give its fruit;

5 Et le battage se prolongera pour vous jusqu'à la vendange, et la vendange jusqu'aux semailles, et vous mangerez votre pain à rassasiement, et vous habiterez votre pays en sécurité.

and reached to you hath the threshing, the gathering, and the gathering doth reach the sowing -[time]; and ye have eaten your bread to satiety, and have dwelt confidently in your land.

6 Et je mettrai la paix dans le pays, et vous vous coucherez sans que personne vous fasse peur, et j'exterminerai les bêtes féroces du pays, et l'épée ne passera point, par votre pays.

'And I have given peace in the land, and ye have lain down, and there is none causing trembling; and I have caused evil beasts to cease out of the land, and the sword doth not pass over into your land.

7 Et vous poursuivrez vos ennemis et ils tomberont devant vous par l'épée,

'And ye have pursued your enemies, and they have fallen before you by the sword;

8 et cinq d'entre vous en poursuivront cent, et cent d'entre vous en poursuivront dix mille, et vos ennemis tomberont devant vous par l'épée.

and five of you have pursued a hundred, and a hundred of you do pursue a myriad; and your enemies have fallen before you by the sword.

9 Et je serai tourné vers vous, et vous féconderai et vous multiplierai, et je mettrai à effet l'alliance que j'ai avec vous.

'And I have turned unto you, and have made you fruitful, and have multiplied you, and have established My covenant with you;

10 Et vous mangerez des récoltes vieilles qui auront vieilli, et vous sortirez les anciennes pour faire place aux nouvelles.

and ye have eaten old [store], and the old because of the new ye bring out.

11 Et je fixerai ma résidence au milieu de vous, et mon âme n'aura pas pour vous du dédain,

'And I have given My tabernacle in your midst, and My soul doth not loathe you;

12 et j'irai et viendrai parmi vous, et je serai votre Dieu et vous serez mon peuple.

and I have walked habitually in your midst, and have become your God, and ye — ye are become My people;

13 Je suis l'Éternel, votre Dieu, qui vous ai tirés du pays des Égyptiens pour vous soustraire à leur servitude, et j'ai brisé le joug que vous portiez, et vous ai fait marcher la tête droite.

I [am] Jehovah your God, who have brought you out of the land of the Egyptians, from being their servants; and I break the bars of your yoke, and cause you to go erect.

14 Mais si vous ne m'obéissez pas, et ne faites pas toutes ces choses que je vous commande,

'And if ye do not hearken to Me, and do not all these commands;

15 et si, ayant du mépris pour mes statuts et du dédain pour mes lois, vous ne mettez point mes commandements en pratique et rompez l'alliance que vous avez avec moi,

and if at My statutes ye kick, and if My judgments your soul loathe, so as not to do all My commands — to your breaking My covenant —

16 à mon tour aussi, voici ce que je vous ferai: je préposerai la terreur sur vous, la consomption et l'ardente fièvre, qui éteignent les yeux et font languir l'âme; et vous sèmerez en vain vos semences, et vos ennemis les mangeront.

I also do this to you, and I have appointed over you trouble, the consumption, and the burning fever, consuming eyes, and causing pain of soul; and your seed in vain ye have sowed, and your enemies have eaten it;

17 Et je tournerai ma face contre vous, et vous serez battus en face de vos ennemis, et assujettis à ceux qui vous haïssent, et vous fuirez, quoique personne ne vous poursuive.

and I have set My face against you, and ye have been smitten before your enemies; and those hating you have ruled over you, and ye have fled, and there is none pursuing you.

18 Et si amenés jusque-là vous ne m'obéissez pas, j'augmenterai la correction en vous frappant au septuple pour vos péchés,

'And if unto these ye hearken not to Me, — then I have added to chastise you seven times for your sins;

19 et je briserai l'orgueil que vous donne votre force, et je rendrai votre ciel pareil au fer et votre sol pareil à l'airain,

and I have broken the pride of your strength, and have made your heavens as iron, and your earth as brass;

20 afin que votre force s'épuise en vain, et que votre terre ne rende pas ses récoltes, et que les arbres du pays ne donnent pas leurs fruits.

and consumed hath been your strength in vain, and your land doth not give her produce, and the tree of the land doth not give its fruit.

21 Et si vous en venez avec moi à la résistance, et refusez de m'obéir, j'augmenterai encore du septuple la peine de vos péchés.

'And if ye walk with Me [in] opposition, and are not willing to hearken to Me, then I have added to you a plague seven times, according to your sins,

22 Et je lancerai contre vous les bêtes sauvages qui vous prendront vos enfants, détruiront vos bestiaux et vous diminueront à rendre vos routes désertes.

and sent against you the beast of the field, and it hath bereaved you; and I have cut off your cattle, and have made you few, and your ways have been desolate.

23 Et si par là vous n'êtes pas corrigés, et en venez avec moi à la résistance,

'And if by these ye are not instructed by Me, and have walked with Me [in] opposition,

24 j'en viendrai, moi aussi, avec vous à la résistance, et moi aussi je vous frapperai sept fois pour vos péchés.

then I have walked — I also — with you in opposition, and have smitten you, even I, seven times for your sins;

25 Je ferai fondre sur vous l'épée vengeresse qui vengera mon alliance, et vous vous enfermerez dans vos villes, et j'enverrai la peste parmi vous, et vous serez livrés aux mains de l'ennemi;

and I have brought in on you a sword, executing the vengeance of a covenant; and ye have been gathered unto your cities, and I have sent pestilence into your midst, and ye have been given into the hand of an enemy.

26 cependant j'aurai ruiné le pain qui soutient, de sorte que dix femmes auront assez d'un four pour cuire votre pain, et vous vendront votre pain au poids, et que mangeant vous ne serez point rassasiés.

'In My breaking to you the staff of bread, then ten women have baked your bread in one oven, and have given back your bread by weight; and ye have eaten, and are not satisfied.

27 Et si après tout cela vous ne m'obéissez pas, et en venez avec moi à la résistance,

'And if for this ye hearken not to Me, and have walked with Me in opposition,

28 j'en viendrai avec vous à une résistance irritée, et je vous châtierai aussi moi sept fois pour vos péchés.

then I have walked with you in the fury of opposition, and have chastised you, even I, seven times for your sins.

29 Et vous serez réduits à manger la chair de vos fils et à manger la chair de vos filles.

'And ye have eaten the flesh of your sons; even flesh of your daughters ye do eat.

30 Et je saccagerai vos hauts lieux, et arracherai vos colonnes solaires, et j'entasserai vos cadavres sur les débris de vos idoles, et mon âme sera dégoûtée de vous.

And I have destroyed your high places, and cut down your images, and have put your carcases on the carcases of your idols, and My soul hath loathed you;

31 Et je mettrai vos villes en ruine et ravagerai vos sanctuaires, et je ne respirerai plus vos parfums agréables.

and I have made your cities a waste, and have made desolate your sanctuaries, and I smell not at your sweet fragrances;

32 Et je dévasterai le pays, à en rendre stupéfaits vos ennemis qui l'habiteront.

and I have made desolate the land, and your enemies, who are dwelling in it, have been astonished at it.

33 Et je vous disséminerai parmi les nations, et je tiendrai l'épée tirée derrière vous, et votre pays sera un désert, et vos villes des masures.

And you I scatter among nations, and have drawn out after you a sword, and your land hath been a desolation, and your cities are a waste.

34 Alors le pays acquittera la dette d'années sabbatiques pendant tout le temps de sa désolation et de votre séjour dans le pays de vos ennemis; alors le pays se reposera et acquittera sa dette d'années sabbatiques;

'Then doth the land enjoy its sabbaths — all the days of the desolation, and ye in the land of your enemies — then doth the land rest, and hath enjoyed its sabbaths;

35 pendant tout le temps de la désolation il aura ce repos dont il n'aura pas joui pendant vos années sabbatiques, vous l'habitant.

all the days of the desolation it resteth that which it hath not rested in your sabbaths in your dwelling on it.

36 Et ceux de vous qui survivront je les rendrai pusillanimes dans les pays de leurs ennemis; poursuivis par le frémissement d'une feuille emportée, ils fuiront comme on fuit devant l'épée, et tomberont quoique n'étant poursuivis par personne;

'And those who are left of you — I have also brought a faintness into their heart in the lands of their enemies, and the sound of a leaf driven away hath pursued them, and they have fled — flight from a sword — and they have fallen, and there is none pursuing.

37 ils se culbuteront les uns sur les autres comme en face de l'épée, quoique n'étant poursuivis par personne, et vous ne pourrez tenir tête à vos ennemis.

And they have stumbled one on another, as from the face of a sword, and there is none pursuing, and ye have no standing before your enemies,

38 Et vous périrez au milieu des nations et serez dévorés par la terre de vos ennemis.

and ye have perished among the nations, and the land of your enemies hath consumed you.

39 Et ceux de vous qui survivront, se fondront par l'effet de leur crime dans les pays de vos ennemis, et se fondront même par l'effet des crimes de leurs pères avec eux.

'And those who are left of you — they consume away in their iniquity, in the lands of your enemies; and also in the iniquities of their fathers, with them they consume away.

40 Alors ils confesseront le crime commis par eux et le crime de leurs pères, lorsqu'ils se révoltèrent contre moi et en vinrent avec moi à la résistance;

'And — they have confessed their iniquity, and the iniquity of their fathers, in their trespass which they have trespassed against Me, and also, that they have walked with Me, in opposition,

41 (c'est pourquoi aussi j'en viendrai avec eux à la résistance et les mènerai dans les pays de leurs ennemis). Dans le cas où alors leur cœur incirconcis serait humilié et où ils paieraient la dette de leur crime,

also I walk to them in opposition, and have brought them into the land of their enemies — or then their uncircumcised heart is humbled, and then they accept the punishment of their iniquity, —

42 je me souviendrai de mon alliance avec Jacob, et me souviendrai aussi de mon alliance avec Isaac et de mon alliance avec Abraham, et me souviendrai aussi du pays.

then I have remembered My covenant [with] Jacob, and also My covenant [with] Isaac, and also My covenant [with] Abraham I remember, and the land I remember.

43 Car le pays doit être abandonné par eux et acquitter sa dette d'années sabbatiques, pendant qu'ils ne le peupleront plus, et ils paieront la dette de leur crime pour avoir eu, oui, pour avoir eu du mépris pour mes lois et du dédain pour mes statuts.

'And — the land is left of them, and doth enjoy its sabbaths, in the desolation without them, and they accept the punishment of their iniquity, because, even because, against My judgments they have kicked, and My statutes hath their soul loathed,

44 Cependant aussi, même pendant qu'ils seront sur la terre de leurs ennemis, je ne les réprouverai pas et ne les rejetterai pas au point de les anéantir et de rompre l'alliance que j'ai avec eux; car je suis l'Éternel, leur Dieu.

and also even this, in their being in the land of their enemies, I have not rejected them, nor have I loathed them, to consume them, to break My covenant with them; for I [am] Jehovah their God; —

45 Je leur garde la mémoire de l'alliance traitée avec les ancêtres que j'ai tirés du pays d'Egypte à la vue des nations, pour être leur Dieu. Je suis l'Éternel.

then I have remembered for them the covenant of the ancestors, whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt before the eyes of the nations to become their God; I [am] Jehovah.'

46 Tels sont les statuts et les édits et les lois que l'Éternel établit entre Lui et les enfants d'Israël sur le mont de Sinaï par l'organe de Moïse.

These [are] the statutes, and the judgments, and the laws, which Jehovah hath given between Him and the sons of Israel, in mount Sinai, by the hand of Moses.
