Josué 15

1 Et le lot, échu par le sort à la Tribu des fils de Juda en raison de leurs familles, fut: à la frontière d'Edom le désert de Tsin, au sud, à l'extrémité méridionale.

Now the part of the land marked out for the children of Judah by families, went up to the edge of Edom, as far as the waste land of Zin to the south, to the farthest point of it on the south.

2 Et leur frontière méridionale, partant de l'extrémité de la Mer Salée, de la pointe tournée au midi,

Their south limit was from the farthest part of the Salt Sea, from the inlet looking to the south:

3 courait au sud de la Hauteur des scorpions, puis passant à Tsin remontait du midi de Cadès-Barnéa, d'où passant à Hetsron elle montait vers Addar pour tourner vers Karka

From there it goes south of the slope up to Akrabbim, and on to Zin, then south past Kadesh-barnea, and on by Hezron and up to Addar, turning in the direction of Karka:

4 et passer à Atsmon pour déboucher au Torrent d'Egypte et aboutir à la Mer. Telle sera votre frontière au midi.

Then on to Azmon, ending at the stream of Egypt: and the end of the limit is at the sea; this will be your limit on the south.

5 Et la frontière orientale fut la Mer Salée jusqu'à l'embouchure du Jourdain. Et la frontière du côté du nord partait de la pointe de la Mer [Salée], de l'embouchure du Jourdain

And the east limit is the Salt Sea as far as the end of Jordan. And the limit of the north part of the land is from the inlet of the sea at the end of Jordan:

6 montait vers Beth-Hogla, et passait au nord de Beth-Araba, puis montait à la Pierre de Bohan, fils de Ruben, puis du Val d'Achor la frontière

Then the line goes up to Beth-hoglah, past the north of Beth-arabah, and up to the stone of Bohan, the son of Reuben;

7 montait à Debir et au nord contournait vers Guilgal située vis-à-vis de l'éminence d'Adummim qui est au sud de la rivière. Ensuite la frontière continuait jusqu'aux Eaux de la Fontaine du soleil et venait aboutir à la Fontaine des éclaireurs.

Then the line goes up to Debir from the valley of Achor, and so to the north, in the direction of Gilgal, which is opposite the slope up to Adummim, on the south side of the river: and the line goes on to the waters of En-shemesh, ending at En-rogel:

8 De là elle montait à la vallée des fils de Hinnom au gradin méridional des Jébusites, c'est-à-dire, de Jérusalem, puis gagnait le sommet de la montagne à l'occident de la vallée de Hinnom qui est à l'extrémité septentrionale de la vallée de Rephaïm.

Then the line goes up by the valley of the son of Hinnom to the south side of the Jebusite (which is Jerusalem): then up to the top of the mountain in front of the valley of Hinnom to the west, which is at the farthest point of the valley of Rephaim on the north:

9 Et du sommet de la montagne la frontière était tracée jusqu'à la Fontaine des Eaux de Nephthoah et continuait jusqu'aux villes de la montagne d'Ephron et suivait une ligne jusqu'à Baalah, c'est-à-dire, Kiriath-Jearim.

And the limit is marked out from the top of the mountain to the fountain of the waters of Nephtoah, and out to the towns of Mount Ephron, as far as Baalah (which is Kiriath-jearim):

10 Et de Baalah elle tournait à l'ouest vers le mont Séir et traversant le gradin septentrional du mont de Jearim, c'est-à-dire, Chessalon, elle descendait à Beth-Sémès et continuait jusqu'à Thimna.

Then turning west, the line goes from Baalah to Mount Seir, and on to the side of Mount Jearim (which is Chesalon) on the north, then down to Beth-shemesh, and on past Timnah:

11 De là suivant le gradin septentrional de Ecron elle se dirigeait vers Sichron et allait au mont Baalah et atteignait Jabnéel, pour aboutir à la mer.

And out to the side of Ekron to the north: then it is marked out to Shikkeron and on to Mount Baalah, ending at Jabneel; the end of the line is at the sea.

12 Et la frontière occidentale est formée par la Mer, la Grande Mer et la côte. Telle est la frontière des fils de Juda de tous les côtés, en raison de leurs familles.

And the limit on the west is the edge of the Great Sea. This is the line going round the land marked out for the children of Judah, by their families.

13 Et à Caleb, fils de Jephunné, il donna pour portion au milieu des fils de Juda, comme l'Éternel l'avait ordonné à Josué, la ville de Arba, père des Anakites, c'est-à-dire, Hébron.

And to Caleb, the son of Jephunneh, he gave a part among the children of Judah, as the Lord had given orders to Joshua, that is, Kiriath-arba, named after Arba, the father of Anak which is Hebron.

14 Et Caleb en expulsa les trois fils d'Anak, Sesaï et Ahiman et Thalmaï, issus d'Anak.

And the three sons of Anak, Sheshai and Ahiman and Talmai, the children of Anak, were forced out from there by Caleb.

15 Et de là il monta pour attaquer les habitants de Debir (jadis Debir portait le nom de Kiriath-Sépher).

From there he went up against the people of Debir: (now the name of Debir before that was Kiriath-sepher.)

16 Et Caleb dit: A celui qui réduira et prendra Kiriath-Sépher, je donnerai pour femme Achsa, ma fille.

And Caleb said, I will give Achsah, my daughter, as wife to the man who overcomes Kiriath-sepher and takes it.

17 Et Othniel, fils de Kénaz, frère de Caleb, s'en empara, et Caleb lui donna pour femme sa fille Achsa.

And Othniel, the son of Kenaz, Caleb's brother, took it: so he gave him his daughter Achsah for his wife.

18 Et à son entrée chez lui elle l'incita à demander un champ à son père; et de dessus l'âne qu'elle montait, elle mit pied à terre.

Now when she came to him, he put into her mind the idea of requesting a field from her father: and she got down from her ass; and Caleb said to her, What is it?

19 Et Caleb lui dit: Qu'as-tu? Et elle dit: Accorde-moi un bienfait! puisque tu m'as donné la contrée du midi, donne-moi aussi des sources d'eaux. Alors il lui donna les sources supérieures et les sources inférieures.

And she said, Give me a blessing; because you have put me in dry south-land, now give me springs of water. So he gave her the higher spring and the lower spring.

20 Tel est le lot de la Tribu des fils de Juda, d'après leurs familles.

This is the heritage of the tribe of Judah, by their families.

21 Et à l'extrémité de la Tribu des fils de Juda vers la frontière d'Edom dans le Midi se trouvaient ces villes-ci: Kabtséel et Eder et Jagur,

The farthest towns of the tribe of Judah in the direction of the limits of Edom to the south, were Kabzeel, and Eder, and Jagur;

22 et Kîna et Dîmona et Adada

And Kinah, and Dimonah, and Adadah;

23 et Kédès et Hatsor et Jithnan,

And Kedesh, and Hazor, and Ithnan;

24 Ziph et Telem et Bealoth

Ziph, and Telem, and Bealoth;

25 et Hatsor-Hadatha et Kirioth, Hetsron, c'est-à-dire, Hatsor,

And Hazor-hadattah, and Kerioth-hezron (which is Hazor);

26 Amam et Sema et Molada,

Amam, and Shema, and Moladah;

27 et Hatsar-Gadda et Hesmon et Beth-Palet,

And Hazar-gaddah, and Heshmon, and Beth-pelet;

28 et Hatsar-Sual et Béer-Séba et Bisiotheia,

And Hazar-shual, and Beer-sheba, and Biziothiah;

29 Baala et Ijim et Atsem

Baalah, and Iim, and Ezem;

30 et El-Tholad et Chesil et Horma

And Eltolad, and Chesil, and Hormah;

31 et Tsildag et Madmanna et Jansanna,

And Ziklag, and Madmannah, and Sansannah;

32 et Lebaoth et Silhim et Aïn et Rimmon: total des villes; vingt-neuf, plus leurs villages.

And Lebaoth, and Shilhim, and Ain, and Rimmon; all the towns are twenty-nine, with their unwalled places.

33 Dans le Pays-bas: Esthaol et Tsarea et Asna,

In the lowland, Eshtaol, and Zorah, and Ashnah;

34 et Zanoah et Ein-Gannim, Thappuah et Einam,

And Zanoah, and En-gannim, Tappuah, and Enam;

35 Jarmuth et Adullam, Socho et Azeka,

Jarmuth, and Adullam, Socoh, and Azekah;

36 et Saaraïm et Adithaïm et Gedera et Gederothaïm: quatorze villes, plus leurs villages.

And Shaaraim, and Adithaim, and Gederah, and Gederothaim; fourteen towns with their unwalled places.

37 Tsenan et Hadasa, et Migdal-Gad,

Zenan, and Hadashah, and Migdal-gad;

38 et Dilean et Mitspeh et Joktéel,

And Dilan, and Mizpeh, and Joktheel;

39 Lachis et Botskath et Eglon

Lachish, and Bozkath, and Eglon;

40 et Chabbon et Lahmas et Chitelis

And Cabbon, and Lahmas, and Chithlish;

41 et Gederoth, Beth-Dagon et Naama et Makkéda: seize villes, plus leurs villages.

And Gederoth, Beth-dagon, and Naamah, and Makkedah; sixteen towns with their unwalled places.

42 Libna et Ether et Asan

Libnah, and Ether, and Ashan;

43 et Jephthah et Asena et Netsîb,

And Iphtah, and Ashnah, and Nezib;

44 et Keïla et Achsîb, et Marésa: neuf villes, plus leurs villages.

And Keilah, and Achzib, and Mareshah; nine towns with their unwalled places.

45 Ecron et ses annexes et ses villages.

Ekron, with her daughter-towns and her unwalled places;

46 Et depuis Ecron et à l'occident toutes les villes à côté de Asdod et leurs villages:

From Ekron to the sea, all the towns by the side of Ashdod, with their unwalled places.

47 Asdod, ses annexes et ses villages; Gaza, ses annexes et ses villages jusqu'au Torrent d'Egypte et à la Grande Mer et aux côtes.

Ashdod, with her daughter-towns and her unwalled places; Gaza, with her daughter-towns and her unwalled places, to the stream of Egypt, with the Great Sea as a limit.

48 Et dans la montagne: Samîr et Jathîr, et Socho

And in the hill-country, Shamir, and Jattir, and Socoh;

49 et Danna et Kiriath-Sanna, c'est-à-dire, Debir

And Dannah, and Kiriath-sannah (which is Debir);

50 et Anab et Esthemo et Anim

And Anab, and Eshtemoh, and Anim;

51 et Gosen et Holon et Gilo: onze villes, plus leurs villages.

And Goshen, and Holon, and Giloh; eleven towns with their unwalled places.

52 Arab et Duma et Esean

Arab, and Dumah, and Eshan;

53 et Janîm et Beth-Thappuah et Apheka

And Janim, and Beth-tappuah, and Aphekah;

54 et Humta et Kiriath-Arba, c'est-à-dire, Hébron, et Tsior: neuf villes, plus leurs villages.

And Humtah, and Kiriath-arba (which is Hebron), and Zior; nine towns with their unwalled places.

55 Maon, Carmel et Ziph et Juta

Maon, Carmel, and Ziph, and Jutah;

56 et Jizréel et Jockdeam et Zanoah,

And Jezreel, and Jokdeam, and Zanoah;

57 Kaïn, Gibea et Thimna: dix villes, plus leurs villages.

Kain, Gibeah, and Timnah; ten towns with their unwalled places.

58 Halhul, Beth-Tsur, et Gedor

Halhul, Beth-zur, and Gedor;

59 et Maarath et Beth-Anoth et Elthékon: six villes, plus leurs villages.

And Maarath, and Beth-anoth, and Eltekon; six towns with their unwalled places.

60 Kiriath-Baal, c'est-à-dire, Kiriath-Jearim et Harabba: deux villes plus leurs bourgs.

Kiriath-baal (which is Kiriath-jearim), and Rabbah; two towns with their unwalled places.

61 Dans le Désert: Beth-Araba, Middin et Sechacha

In the waste land, Beth-arabah, Middin, and Secacah;

62 et Nibsan et Ir-Hammélach (Ville du sel) et Ein-Gueddi: six villes, plusieurs villages.

And Nibshan, and the Town of Salt, and En-gedi; six towns with their unwalled places.

63 Quant aux Jébusites habitant Jérusalem, les fils de Juda ne purent les expulser; dès là les Jébusites ont habité avec les enfants de Juda à Jérusalem jusqu'aujourd'hui.

And as for the Jebusites living in Jerusalem, the children of Judah were unable to make them go out; but the Jebusites are living with the children of Judah at Jerusalem, to this day.
