Jean 15

1 « Je suis le véritable cep, et mon Père est le vigneron;

'I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman;

2 tout sarment en moi qui ne porte point de fruit, Il le retranche, et tout sarment qui porte son fruit, Il le nettoie, afin qu'il porte plus de fruit.

every branch in me not bearing fruit, He doth take it away, and every one bearing fruit, He doth cleanse by pruning it, that it may bear more fruit;

3 Déjà vous êtes nets, à cause de la parole que je vous ai adressée.

already ye are clean, because of the word that I have spoken to you;

4 Demeurez en moi, et moi en vous; comme le sarment ne peut porter du fruit de lui-même, s'il ne demeure au cep, vous non plus, si vous ne demeurez en moi.

remain in me, and I in you, as the branch is not able to bear fruit of itself, if it may not remain in the vine, so neither ye, if ye may not remain in me.

5 Moi, je suis le cep, vous, les sarments; celui qui demeure en moi et moi en lui, celui-là porte beaucoup de fruit; car, séparés de moi, vous ne pouvez pas faire la moindre chose.

'I am the vine, ye the branches; he who is remaining in me, and I in him, this one doth bear much fruit, because apart from me ye are not able to do anything;

6 Si quelqu'un ne demeure pas en moi, il est jeté dehors comme le sarment, et il sèche; puis on les rassemble, et on les jette dans le feu, et ils brûlent.

if any one may not remain in me, he was cast forth without as the branch, and was withered, and they gather them, and cast to fire, and they are burned;

7 Si vous demeurez en moi, et que mes paroles demeurent en vous, demandez ce que vous voudrez, et cela vous sera accordé.

if ye may remain in me, and my sayings in you may remain, whatever ye may wish ye shall ask, and it shall be done to you.

8 Pour que mon Père soit glorifié, il faut que vous portiez beaucoup de fruit, et que vous deveniez mes disciples.

'In this was my Father glorified, that ye may bear much fruit, and ye shall become my disciples.

9 Comme mon Père m'a aimé, moi aussi je vous ai aimés; demeurez dans mon amour;

According as the Father did love me, I also loved you, remain in my love;

10 si vous gardez mes commandements, vous demeurerez dans mon amour, comme moi j'ai gardé les commandements du Père, et je demeure dans son amour.

if my commandments ye may keep, ye shall remain in my love, according as I the commands of my Father have kept, and do remain in His love;

11 Je vous ai dit ces choses afin que ma joie soit en vous, et que votre joie soit complète.

these things I have spoken to you, that my joy in you may remain, and your joy may be full.

12 Voici quel est mon commandement: c'est que vous vous aimiez les uns les autres comme je vous ai aimés;

'This is my command, that ye love one another, according as I did love you;

13 il n'est personne qui ait un plus grand amour que celui qui porte quelqu'un à sacrifier sa propre vie pour ses amis;

greater love than this hath no one, that any one his life may lay down for his friends;

14 vous êtes mes amis, si vous faites ce que je vous commande;

ye are my friends, if ye may do whatever I command you;

15 je ne vous appelle plus esclaves, parce que l'esclave ne sait pas ce que fait son seigneur; mais je vous ai appelés amis, parce que je vous ai fait connaître tout ce que j'ai appris de mon Père.

no more do I call you servants, because the servant hath not known what his lord doth, and you I have called friends, because all things that I heard from my Father, I did make known to you.

16 Ce n'est pas vous qui m'avez choisi, mais c'est moi qui vous ai choisis, et qui vous ai établis, afin que vous alliez, et que vous portiez du fruit, et que votre fruit demeure, afin que tout ce que vous demanderez au Père en mon nom, Il vous le donne.

'Ye did not choose out me, but I chose out you, and did appoint you, that ye might go away, and might bear fruit, and your fruit might remain, that whatever ye may ask of the Father in my name, He may give you.

17 Voici ce que je vous commande: c'est que vous vous aimiez les uns les autres. »

'These things I command you, that ye love one another;

18 « Si le monde vous hait, sachez qu'il m'a haï avant vous;

if the world doth hate you, ye know that it hath hated me before you;

19 si vous étiez du monde, le monde aimerait ce qui est sien; mais comme vous n'êtes pas du monde, mais que c'est moi qui vous ai choisis du milieu du monde, voilà pourquoi le monde vous hait.

if of the world ye were, the world its own would have been loving, and because of the world ye are not — but I chose out of the world — because of this the world hateth you.

20 Souvenez-vous de la parole que je vous ai dite: L'esclave n'est pas plus grand que son seigneur; s'ils m'ont poursuivi, ils vous poursuivront aussi; s'ils ont gardé ma parole, ils garderont aussi la vôtre;

'Remember the word that I said to you, A servant is not greater than his lord; if me they did persecute, you also they will persecute; if my word they did keep, yours also they will keep;

21 mais ils feront tout cela contre vous à cause de mon nom, parce qu'ils ne connaissent pas Celui qui m'a envoyé.

but all these things will they do to you, because of my name, because they have not known Him who sent me;

22 Si je n'étais pas venu, et si je ne leur avais pas parlé, ils n'auraient pas de péché; mais maintenant ils n'ont pas d'excuse pour leur péché.

if I had not come and spoken to them, they were not having sin; but now pretext they have not for their sin.

23 Celui qui me hait hait aussi mon Père;

'He who is hating me, doth hate also my Father;

24 si je n'avais pas fait parmi eux les œuvres que nul autre n'a faites, ils n'auraient pas de péché; mais maintenant, quoiqu'ils les aient vues, ils ont haï, et moi, et mon Père.

if I did not do among them the works that no other hath done, they were not having sin, and now they have both seen and hated both me and my Father;

25 Mais il fallait que fût accomplie la parole qui est écrite dans leur loi: « Ils m'ont haï gratuitement. »

but — that the word may be fulfilled that was written in their law — They hated me without a cause.

26 Quand sera venu le défenseur que je vous enverrai d'auprès du Père, l'Esprit de la vérité qui sort d'auprès du Père, c'est lui qui témoignera en ma faveur;

'And when the Comforter may come, whom I will send to you from the Father — the Spirit of truth, who from the Father doth come forth, he will testify of me;

27 mais, vous aussi, vous témoignerez, parce que vous êtes dès le commencement avec moi. »

and ye also do testify, because from the beginning ye are with me.
