Jérémie 43
1 Et lorsque Jérémie eut achevé de dire à tout le peuple toutes les paroles de l'Éternel, leur Dieu, dont l'avait chargé l'Éternel, leur Dieu, pour eux, toutes ces paroles-là,
When Jeremiah had finished telling all the people all the words of the LORD their God—everything that the LORD had sent him to say—
2 alors prirent la parole Azarias, fils d'Osée, et Jochanan, fils de Karéah, et tous les hommes orgueilleux, lesquels dirent à Jérémie: Tu dis un mensonge; l'Éternel, notre Dieu, ne t'a point chargé de nous dire: N'allez point en Egypte pour vous y fixer;
Azariah son of Hoshaiah, Johanan son of Kareah, and all the arrogant men said to Jeremiah, “You are lying! The LORD our God has not sent you to say, ‘You must not go to Egypt to reside there.’
3 mais c'est Baruch, fils de Nérija, qui t'excite contre nous pour nous livrer aux mains des Chaldéens, afin qu'ils nous fassent mourir et nous déportent à Babel.
Rather, Baruch son of Neriah is inciting you against us to deliver us into the hands of the Chaldeans, so that they may put us to death or exile us to Babylon!”
4 Et Jochanan, fils de Karéah, et tous les chefs de l'armée, et tout le peuple n'obéirent point à l'ordre de l'Éternel, de rester dans le pays de Juda.
So Johanan son of Kareah and all the commanders of the forces disobeyed the command of the LORD to stay in the land of Judah.
5 Et Jochanan, fils de Karéah, et tous les chefs de l'armée prirent tous les survivants de Juda, qui étaient revenus du milieu de toutes les nations où ils étaient dispersés habiter le pays de Juda,
Instead, Johanan son of Kareah and all the commanders of the forces took the whole remnant of Judah, those who had returned to the land of Judah from all the nations to which they had been scattered,
6 les hommes, et les femmes, et les enfants, et les filles du roi, et toutes les personnes que Nébuzaradan, chef des satellites, avait laissées avec Gédalia, fils d'Achikam, fils de Schaphan, et Jérémie, le prophète, et Baruch, fils de Nérija;
the men, the women, the children, the king’s daughters, and everyone whom Nebuzaradan captain of the guard had allowed to remain with Gedaliah son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, as well as Jeremiah the prophet and Baruch son of Neriah.
7 et ils émigrèrent au pays d'Egypte, car ils n'obéirent pas à la voix de l'Éternel, et ils s'avancèrent jusqu'à Tachphanès.
So they entered the land of Egypt because they did not obey the voice of the LORD, and they went as far as Tahpanhes.
8 Et la parole de l'Éternel fut adressée à Jérémie, à Tachphanès, en ces mots:
Then the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah at Tahpanhes:
9 Prends en ta main de grandes pierres, et les enfonce dans de l'argile à la tuilerie qui se trouve à la porte de la maison de Pharaon à Tachphanès, sous les yeux des Juifs,
“In the sight of the Jews, pick up some large stones and bury them in the clay of the brick pavement at the entrance to Pharaoh’s palace at Tahpanhes.
10 et dis-leur: Ainsi parle l'Éternel des armées, Dieu d'Israël: Voici, j'envoie chercher Nébucadnézar, roi de Babel, mon serviteur, et je place son trône sur ces pierres, que j'ai enfoncées, et il étendra son brillant tapis sur elles;
Then tell them that this is what the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: ‘I will send for My servant Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and I will set his throne over these stones that I have embedded, and he will spread his royal pavilion over them.
11 et il viendra et frappera le pays d'Egypte; et à la mort, celui qui est à la mort, et à la captivité celui qui est à la captivité, et à l'épée celui qui est à l'épée!
He will come and strike down the land of Egypt, bringing death to those destined for death, captivity to those destined for captivity, and the sword to those destined for the sword.
12 Et j'allumerai un feu dans les maisons des dieux de l'Egypte; et il les incendiera, et les emmènera, et il s'enveloppera du pays d'Egypte, comme le berger s'enveloppe de son manteau, et il en sortira sain et sauf.
I will kindle a fire in the temples of the gods of Egypt, and Nebuchadnezzar will burn those temples and take their gods as captives. So he will wrap himself with the land of Egypt as a shepherd wraps himself in his garment, and he will depart from there unscathed.
13 Et il brisera les colonnes de Bethsémès au pays d'Egypte, et brûlera au feu les maisons des dieux de l'Egypte.
He will demolish the sacred pillars of the temple of the sun in the land of Egypt, and he will burn down the temples of the gods of Egypt.’”
