Isaïe 55
1 Ho! vous tous qui avez soif, venez aux eaux! et vous qui n'avez pas d'argent, venez, achetez et mangez! Venez, achetez sans argent et sans frais du vin et du lait.
HO, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.
2 Pourquoi pesez-vous de l'argent pour ce qui n'est pas du pain, et vos gains pour ce qui ne rassasie pas? Écoutez, écoutez-moi et goûtez les biens, et que votre âme se restaure par des mets succulents!
Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.
3 Prêtez l'oreille et venez à moi! écoutez, afin que votre âme vive! Je veux vous accorder une alliance éternelle, les grâces permanentes de David.
Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.
4 Voici, je l'établis législateur des peuples, prince et ordonnateur des peuples.
Behold, I have given him for a witness to the people, a leader and commander to the people.
5 Voici, tu convieras un peuple que tu ne connais pas, et un peuple qui ne te connaît pas accourra près de toi, pour l'amour de l'Éternel ton Dieu, et à cause du Saint d'Israël, car Il te glorifie.
Behold, thou shalt call a nation that thou knowest not, and nations that knew not thee shall run unto thee because of the Lord thy God, and for the Holy One of Israel; for he hath glorified thee.
6 Cherchez l'Éternel, pendant qu'il se trouve, invoquez-le, tandis qu'il est près!
Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:
7 Que l'impie abandonne sa voie, et le méchant ses pensées, et qu'il vienne à l'Éternel qui aura pitié de lui, et à notre Dieu, car Il pardonne abondamment.
Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
8 Car mes pensées ne sont pas vos pensées, et vos voies ne sont pas mes voies, dit l'Éternel.
For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord.
9 Mais autant le ciel s'élève au-dessus de la terre, autant mes voies s'élèvent au-dessus de vos voies, et mes pensées au-dessus de vos pensées.
For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
10 Car telles la pluie et la neige descendent du ciel, et n'y retournent pas, mais abreuvent la terre et la fécondent, et la font végéter, et donnent la semence au semeur, et du pain à celui qui mange;
For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:
11 telle est ma parole sortie de ma bouche; elle ne revient pas à moi sans effet, mais elle exécute ma volonté, et accomplit ce pour quoi je l'émets.
So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
12 Oui, vous partirez avec allégresse, et vous serez conduits en paix; les monts et les collines éclateront au-devant de vous en acclamations, et tous les arbres des campagnes applaudiront en battant des mains.
For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.
13 Au lieu de la ronce s'élèvera le cyprès, et au lieu de la bruyère croîtra le myrte; et ce sera pour l'Éternel une gloire et un monument éternel qu'on ne détruira pas.
Instead of the thorn shall come up the fir tree, and instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree: and it shall be to the Lord for a name, for an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off.
