Isaïe 46
1 Bel est culbuté, Nebo précipité; on met leurs images sur des animaux et des bêtes; ceux que vous portiez chargent de leur poids des bestiaux fatigués!
Bel sinketh down; Nebo falleth; Their images are laid upon beasts and cattle; Those that ye once bore are packed upon them; A burden to the weary beast!
2 Ils sont culbutés, précipités ensemble, et ne peuvent sauver le fardeau, et eux-mêmes ils s'en vont captifs. –
They sink down; they fall together; They cannot rescue the burden; They themselves go into captivity.
3 Écoutez-moi, maison de Jacob, et vous, tous les restes de la maison d'Israël! je me suis chargé de vous dès votre origine, je vous ai portés dès votre naissance, et jusqu'à vos vieux jours je serai le même,
Hearken to me, O house of Jacob, And all the remnant of the house of Israel; Ye that have been borne by me from your birth, That have been carried by me from your earliest breath!
4 et jusqu'à la blanche vieillesse je vous soutiendrai; je l'ai fait et je vous porterai encore, je veux soutenir et sauver.
Even to your old age I am the same; Even to hoar hairs I will carry you; I have done it, and I will still bear you; I will carry, and will deliver you.
5 A qui pourriez-vous m'assimiler? de qui me faire l'égal? à qui me comparer, pour que nous nous ressemblions?
To whom will ye liken me, and compare me? Yea, to whom will ye compare me, that we may be like?
6 Ceux qui laissent couler l'or de leur bourse et pèsent l'argent à la balance, prennent à gages un orfèvre pour qu'il leur fasse un Dieu: ils se prosternent et l'adorent.
They lavish gold out of the bag, And weigh silver in the balance; They hire a goldsmith, and he maketh it a god; They fall down, yea, they worship it.
7 Ils le lèvent, en chargent leur épaule, et le mettent sur pied pour qu'il se tienne; et de sa place il ne bouge; on a beau lui crier, il ne répond pas; de leur détresse il ne les sauve pas.
They lift him upon the shoulder, and carry him; They set him in his place, and there he standeth; From his place he moveth not; Yea, one may cry to him, yet doth he not answer, Nor save him out of his distress.
8 Souvenez-vous-en et pensez en hommes! rebelles, réfléchissez-y!
Remember these things, and show yourselves men; Lay them to heart, ye apostates!
9 Rappelez-vous les premiers événements de jadis; car je suis Dieu, et il n'en est point d'autre; je suis Seigneur, et n'ai pas mon pareil;
Remember the former things in ancient times! For I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me.
10 c'est moi qui dès l'origine annonce l'avenir, et dans le passé ce qui n'était pas encore; qui dis: « Ce que j'arrête, se fera, et j'accomplirai toute ma volonté! »
Declaring the end from the beginning; From ancient times the things that were not yet done; Saying, My purpose shall stand, And I will do all my pleasure;
11 qui du Levant ai appelé un aigle, et d'une terre lointaine l'exécuteur de mon décret. Je l'ai dit, et je le réalise; je l'ai projeté, et je l'exécuterai.
Calling from the East the eagle, The man that executeth my purpose from a far country; I have spoken it, I will also bring it to pass; I have purposed it, I will also do it.
12 Écoutez-moi, vous qui êtes endurcis de cœur et loin de la justice!
Hearken to me, ye stubborn-hearted, That are far from deliverance!
13 Je fais approcher ma justice; elle n'est pas loin, et mon salut ne tardera pas. Je mettrai mon salut en Sion, et sur Israël ma gloire.
I have brought near my deliverance; it is not far off; My salvation shall not tarry; I will give to Zion salvation, To Israel, my glory.
