Isaïe 43
1 Mais maintenant, ainsi parle l'Éternel ton créateur, Jacob, et ton formateur, Israël: Ne crains point, car je te rachète, je t'appelle par ton nom; tu es à moi!
Now, therefore, Thus, saith Yahweh—Creating thee, O Jacob, and Fashioning thee O Israel, —Do not fear, For I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name. Mine, thou art!
2 Si tu traverses les eaux, je serai avec toi; et les fleuves, ils ne te submergeront pas; quand tu passeras par le feu, tu ne t'y brûleras pas, et la flamme ne te consumera pas.
When thou passest through the waters, with thee, I am, Or, through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee, —When thou walkest through fire, thou shall not be scorched, And, a flame, shall not kindle upon thee;
3 Car je suis l'Éternel, ton Dieu; le Saint d'Israël est ton libérateur; je livre pour ta rançon l'Egypte, l'Ethiopie et Saba à ta place.
For, I,—Yahweh, am, Thy God, The Holy One of Israel Ready to save thee, —I have given, as thy ransom, Egypt, Ethiopia and Seba, in thy stead.
4 Parce que tu as du prix à mes yeux, que je t'estime et que je t'aime, je livre des hommes à ta place, et des peuples en échange de ta vie.
Because thou art precious in mine eyes, art honoured And, I, love thee, —And will give mankind, in thy stead, Yea, peoples, for thy life,
5 Ne crains point, car je suis avec toi! du Levant je ramènerai ta race, et du Couchant je te recueillerai.
Do not fear for, with thee, I am, —From the East, will I bring in thy seed, And, from the West, will I gather thee:
6 Je dis au septentrion: « Restitue! » et au midi: « Ne recèle pas! Ramène mes fils des pays lointains, et mes filles des bouts de la terre:
I will say to the North Give up! And to the South Do not withhold! Bring in My sons from far, and My daughters from the end of the earth;
7 tous ceux qui s'appellent de mon nom, pour ma gloire je les ai créés, je les ai faits et les ai formés;
Every one who is called by my Name, Whom for mine own glory, I have created—formed—yea, made!
8 élargis le peuple aveugle qui a des yeux, et les sourds qui ont des oreilles! »
Bring forth A blind people that have, eyes, and A deaf, that have, ears.
9 Que toutes les nations s'assemblent à la fois, et que les peuples se réunissent! Lequel d'entre eux annoncerait ces choses? Qu'ils nous fassent entendre les premières prédictions! qu'ils produisent leurs témoins pour avoir gain de cause! sinon, qu'ils écoutent, et qu'ils disent: « C'est vrai! »
All the nations, are gathered together Yea there is an assembling of peoples, Who among them, can tell this, And things in advance, can let us hear? Let them set forth their witnesses that they may get their right, Or let them hear, and say Truth!
10 Vous êtes mes témoins, dit l'Éternel, ainsi que le serviteur dont j'ai fait choix, afin que vous soyez persuadés et me croyiez, et que vous sentiez que c'est moi. Avant moi aucun Dieu ne fut formé, et après moi il n'y en aura point.
Ye, are my witnesses Declareth Yahweh, And my Servant, whom I have chosen, —That ye may take note—and believe me, And perceive that, I, am He, Before me, was not formed a GOD, Nor after me, shall one come into being:
11 C'est moi, moi qui suis l'Éternel, et hors moi il n'y a point de Sauveur.
I—I, am Yahweh, —And there is none besides me ready to save:
12 C'est moi qui ai prédit et sauvé, et qui ai annoncé; et il n'y avait parmi vous aucun [dieu] étranger! vous êtes donc mes témoins, dit l'Éternel, et je suis Dieu.
I, have told—and will save, and make known, That there is among you no strange one; And, ye, are my witnesses, Declareth Yahweh That, I, am GOD.
13 Depuis qu'il y a un temps, déjà je le suis, et personne ne sauve de ma main: ce que je fais, qui le retirera?
Even from To-day, I, am He, And none, out of my hand, can deliver, —I work and who reverseth?
14 Ainsi parle l'Éternel, votre rédempteur, le Saint d'Israël: Pour l'amour de vous j'envoyai contre Babel, et je ferai embarquer tous les fugitifs et les Chaldéens sur les vaisseaux où ils chantent.
Thus saith Yahweh, Your Redeemer, The Holy One of Israel, —For your sakes, have I sent into Babylon, And will bring down as fugitives, all of them, —Even the Chaldeans, in the ships which cause them loud outcry.
15 Moi l'Éternel, je suis votre Saint, le Créateur d'Israël, votre Roi.
I—Yahweh, am Your Holy One, —The Creator of Israel, Your King.
16 Ainsi parle l'Éternel, qui fraya dans la mer un chemin, et dans les eaux puissantes un sentier,
Thus, saith Yahweh, —Who setteth in the sea, a way, —And in the mighty waters, a path;
17 qui mit en campagne chars et chevaux, armée et héros (tous ensemble ils sont gisants, pour ne pas se relever; ils sont éteints, comme une mèche ils finirent):
Who bringeth forth Chariot and horse, Force and strength, Together, shall they lie down They shall not arise, They are extinguished Like a wick, are they quenched!
18 Ne pensez pas aux premiers temps, et à ce qui précéda n'ayez point égard!
Do not keep in mind former things, —And things of old, do not consider:
19 Voici, je vais faire des choses nouvelles; déjà elles germent: ne les connaîtrez-vous pas? Oui, je ferai passer une route dans le désert, et des fleuves dans la terre aride.
Behold me! doing a new thing, Now, shall it spring forth, Will ye not take note thereof? Surely I will set In the desert, a way, In a desolate land, rivers:
20 Les bêtes des champs, les chacals et les autruches me loueront, parce que j'aurai mis des eaux dans le désert, et des fleuves dans la terre aride, pour abreuver mon peuple élu.
The wild beast of the field shall honour me, Jackals, and ostriches, Because I have given—In the desert, waters, Rivers in, desolate land, To give drink unto my people, my chosen:
21 Que le peuple que je me suis formé, redise mes louanges!
A people which I have fashioned for myself, My praise, shall they record.
22 Et cependant, Jacob, tu ne m'as pas invoqué, car tu t'es lassé de moi, Israël!
Yet not upon me, hast thou called, O Jacob, —For thou hast been wearied of me O Israel:
23 Tu ne m'as pas offert tes agneaux en holocaustes, et par tes sacrifices tu ne m'as pas glorifié; je ne t'ai point tourmenté par les offrandes, ni fatigué par l'encens;
Thou hast not brought in to me small cattle as thine ascending-offerings, Nor, with thy sacrifices, hast thou honoured me, —I have not oppressed thee with meal-offerings, Nor have I wearied thee with frankincense;
24 tu ne m'as point à prix d'argent acheté de roseau odorant, et de la graisse de tes victimes tu ne m'as point rassasié; mais tu m'as tourmenté par tes péchés, tu m'as fatigué par tes crimes.
Thou hast not bought for me with silver, fragrant calamus, Nor with the fat of thy sacrifices, hast thou sated me, —Thou hast done nothing but oppress me with thy sins, Thou hast wearied me with thine iniquities.
25 Je veux, je veux effacer tes forfaits pour l'amour de moi, et de tes péchés ne plus me souvenir.
I—I, am he that is ready, To wipe out thy transgressions for mine own sake, —And, thy sins, not remember.
26 Aide ma mémoire! Engageons le débat! parle, afin que tu sois justifié!
Put me in mind, Let us enter into judgment at once, —Recount, thou, that thou mayest be justified:
27 Ton premier père pécha, et tes interprètes se rebellèrent contre moi:
Thy chief father, hath sinned, And thine interpreters, have transgressed against me;
28 c'est pourquoi j'ai avili les princes du sanctuaire, et livré Jacob à la malédiction, et Israël aux outrages.
So then I must needs profane the rulers of the holy place, —And deliver Jacob to be devoted to destruction, and Israel, unto reviling!
