Isaïe 3
1 Car voici, le Seigneur, l'Éternel des armées, va ôter de Jérusalem et de Juda tout appui et toute ressource, toute ressource de pain et toute ressource d'eau,
FOR, behold, the Lord, the Lord of hosts, doth take away from Jerusalem and from Judah the stay and the staff, the whole stay of bread, and the whole stay of water,
2 le héros et le guerrier, le juge et le prophète, et le divinateur et l'Ancien,
The mighty man, and the man of war, the judge, and the prophet, and the prudent, and the ancient,
3 le chef de cinquante, le notable et le conseiller, et l'artiste expert et l'habile enchanteur.
The captain of fifty, and the honourable man, and the counseller, and the cunning artificer, and the eloquent orator.
4 Et je leur donnerai des adolescents pour chefs et des enfants régneront sur eux.
And I will give children to be their princes, and babes shall rule over them.
5 Et le peuple devient oppresseur, l'homme envers un autre homme, et chacun envers son prochain; il y a insurrection de l'enfant contre le vieillard, et des petits contre les grands.
And the people shall be oppressed, every one by another, and every one by his neighbour: the child shall behave himself proudly against the ancient, and the base against the honourable.
6 Car l'un saisit son frère dans la maison paternelle: « Tu as des vêtements, viens! sois notre Prince! prends en mains cet état en ruine! »
When a man shall take hold of his brother of the house of his father, saying, Thou hast clothing, be thou our ruler, and let this ruin be under thy hand:
7 En ce jour-là celui-ci répondra et dira: « Je ne saurais être le médecin, et dans ma maison il n'y a ni pain, ni vêtements; ne m'établissez pas prince du peuple! »
In that day shall he swear, saying, I will not be an healer; for in my house is neither bread nor clothing: make me not a ruler of the people.
8 Car Jérusalem chancelle et Juda tombe, parce que leurs paroles et leurs œuvres sont contre l'Éternel, pour braver les regards de sa majesté.
For Jerusalem is ruined, and Judah is fallen: because their tongue and their doings are against the Lord, to provoke the eyes of his glory.
9 L'air de leur visage témoigne contre eux, et comme Sodome ils publient leur péché, ne le dissimulent pas. Malheur à leur âme! car ils se préparent des maux.
The shew of their countenance doth witness against them; and they declare their sin as Sodom, they hide it not. Woe unto their soul! for they have rewarded evil unto themselves.
10 Dites que le juste est heureux, car il goûte les fruits de ses œuvres.
Say ye to the righteous, that it shall be well with him: for they shall eat the fruit of their doings.
11 Malheur à l'impie! le malheureux! car ce qu'il a fait lui sera rendu.
Woe unto the wicked! it shall be ill with him: for the reward of his hands shall be given him.
12 Des enfants sont les oppresseurs de mon peuple, et des femmes le gouvernent. Mon peuple! tes guides t'égarent, et ruinent le chemin que tu devrais suivre.
As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, they which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths.
13 L'Éternel est levé pour faire le procès, et Il est debout pour juger les tribus.
The Lord standeth up to plead, and standeth to judge the people.
14 L'Éternel paraît en jugement avec les anciens de son peuple et ses chefs: « C'est vous qui avez brouté la vigne! la dépouille du pauvre est dans vos maisons!
The Lord will enter into judgment with the ancients of his people, and the princes thereof: for ye have eaten up the vineyard; the spoil of the poor is in your houses.
15 Que faites-vous de fouler mon peuple et de meurtrir le visage des misérables? » dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel des armées.
What mean ye that ye beat my people to pieces, and grind the faces of the poor? saith the Lord God of hosts.
16 Et l'Éternel dit: Parce que les filles de Sion sont fières et vont le cou renversé, et lançant des regards, qu'elles marchent à petits pas et font résonner les boucles de leurs pieds,
Moreover the Lord saith, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with stretched forth necks and wanton eyes, walking and mincing as they go, and making a tinkling with their feet:
17 le Seigneur pèlera le crâne des filles de Sion, et l'Éternel découvrira leur nudité.
Therefore the Lord will smite with a scab the crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, and the Lord will discover their secret parts.
18 En ce jour le Seigneur enlèvera les boucles, parure de leurs pieds, et les filets et les lunules;
In that day the Lord will take away the bravery of their tinkling ornaments about their feet, and their cauls, and their round tires like the moon,
19 les pendants d'oreilles et les bracelets et les voiles;
The chains, and the bracelets, and the mufflers,
20 les bandeaux et les chaînettes de pieds, et les ceintures et les flacons de senteur, et les amulettes;
The bonnets, and the ornaments of the legs, and the headbands, and the tablets, and the earrings,
21 les bagues et les boucles de narines;
The rings, and nose jewels,
22 les habits magnifiques et les larges tuniques, et les manteaux et les gibecières;
The changeable suits of apparel, and the mantles, and the wimples, and the crisping pins,
23 les miroirs et les chemises, et les turbans et les crêpes.
The glasses, and the fine linen, and the hoods, and the vails.
24 Et au lieu de parfum, il y aura infection; et au lieu de ceinture, une corde; et au lieu de cheveux bouclés, une tête chauve; et au lieu de la mante, un cilice pour se ceindre; la marque, au lieu de la beauté.
And it shall come to pass, that instead of sweet smell there shall be stink; and instead of a girdle a rent; and instead of well set hair baldness; and instead of a stomacher a girding of sackcloth; and burning instead of beauty.
25 Tes hommes périront par l'épée, et tes héros dans le combat.
Thy men shall fall by the sword, and thy mighty in the war.
26 Et ses portes seront gémissantes et dans le deuil, et désolée elle s'assiéra sur la terre.
And her gates shall lament and mourn; and she being desolate shall sit upon the ground.
