Isaïe 27
1 En ce même jour, l'Éternel châtiera avec sa dure, grande et forte épée le léviathan, serpent fuyard, et le léviathan, serpent tortueux, et tuera le dragon de la mer.
In that day, will Yahweh With his sword—the hard and the great and the strong, Bring punishment Upon Leviathan, the fleeing serpent, And upon Leviathan, the crooked serpent, —And will slay the monster which is in the sea.
2 En ce même jour, chantez ainsi sur la vigne:
In that day, A Wine-Vineyard! sing ye unto her:
3 « Moi, l'Éternel, je suis son gardien, je l'arrose en tout temps, contre les attaques nuit et jour je la garderai.
I—Yahweh, am Watching over her, Every moment, will I water her, —Lest anyone injure her, Night and day, will I watch over her.
4 Je suis sans colère! Qu'on m'oppose des ronces et des épines! en combattant je fondrai sur eux et les consumerai en entier;
Fury, have I none, —Oh that there were delivered to me briars and thorns, in battle! I would march in among them I would set fire to them one and all.
5 à moins qu'ils ne saisissent mon appui, et ne fassent leur paix avec moi, ne fassent leur paix avec moi. »
Else, let one lay hold of my protection, Let him make peace with me, —Peace, let him make with me.
6 A l'avenir Jacob poussera des racines, et Israël des bourgeons et des fleurs, et de leurs fruits ils rempliront le monde.
In coming times, shall Jacob strike root, Israel, shall blossom and bud, —Then shall they fill the face of the world with fruit.
7 Frappa-t-Il [Israël] des coups dont Il frappa ceux qui l'ont frappé? ou fut-il égorgé comme furent égorgés ceux qui l'ont égorgé?
Was it, with the smiting of his smiter, that he smote him? Or as with the slaying of his slayer, was he slain?
8 Ce fut modérément, en le répudiant, que tu le punis, qu'il fut emporté par ton souffle violent au jour du vent d'Orient.
By driving her away—by dismissing her, wouldest thou contend with her? He removed her by his rough wind in, a day of east wind.
9 C'est aussi par là que fut expié le crime de Jacob; et c'est là justement le fruit de l'abandon qu'il fit de son péché, quand Il rendit toutes les pierres des autels pareilles à des pierres calcinées, concassées, pour qu'il ne s'élève plus d'aschères ni de colonnes solaires.
Therefore hereby, shall a propitiatory—covering be put over the iniquity of Jacob, And all, this, is the fruit of taking away his sin, —When he maketh all the stones of an altar like chalk-stones that soon crumble, Sacred Stems and Sun Images, shall not arise.
10 Car la cité [jadis] forte est dévastée; c'est un séjour abandonné et désolé comme le désert, le veau y pâture, il s'y couche et broute ses rameaux.
For the fortified city, is solitary, The dwelling forsaken and left as a wilderness, —There, shall the calf feed, And, there, lie down And shall consume the branches thereof:
11 Quand ses branches sèchent, elles sont brisées, des femmes viennent et y mettent le feu. Car il ne fut pas un peuple sage; aussi son créateur n'eut pas pitié de lui, et son formateur ne lui fut pas propice.
When the cut-off boughs thereof are dry, they shall be broken to pieces, Women, coming, are kindling it! For it is not a people of understanding, For this cause, Will he that made him, not have compassion upon him, And, he that formed him, will shew him no favour.
12 Mais en ce même jour, l'Éternel secouera des fruits depuis les flots du Fleuve jusqu'au torrent d'Egypte, et vous serez ramassés un à un, enfants d'Israël.
And it shall come to pass, in that day, That Yahweh will beat off his fruit from the stream of the River ["Euphrates"], unto the torrent-valley of Egypt, —And, ye, shall be picked up, one by one O sons of Israel.
13 Et en ce même jour la grande trompette sonnera, et ceux qui étaient perdus au pays d'Assyrie et bannis au pays d'Egypte, viendront et adoreront l'Éternel sur la montagne sainte à Jérusalem.
And it shall come to pass in that day, That there shall be a blowing with a great horn, Then shall come in Such as have wandered in the land of Assyria, And such as have been outcasts in the land of Egypt, —And they shall bow themselves down unto Yahweh In the holy mountain, In Jerusalem.
