Isaïe 22
1 Oracle contre la vallée des visions. Que t'arrive-t-il donc, que tous tes habitants sont montés sur les toits,
The burden of the valley of vision. What aileth thee now, that thou hast wholly gone up to the house-tops?
2 ville pleine de tumulte, cité bruyante et joyeuse? Tes morts ne seront pas percés par l'épée, ni tués dans le combat.
Thou that art full of stirs, a tumultuous city, a joyous city: thy slain [men are] not slain with the sword, nor dead in battle.
3 Tous tes généraux fuient ensemble, sont pris par les archers, tous ceux qui se trouvent en ton sein sont pris à la fois, ils fuient au loin.
All thy rulers have fled together, they are bound by the archers: all that are found in thee are bound together, [who] have fled from far.
4 Aussi dis-je: Détournez les yeux de moi; j'ai à pleurer amèrement: n'insistez pas pour me consoler de la ruine de la fille de mon peuple!
Therefore said I, Look away from me; I will weep bitterly, labor not to comfort me, because of the devastation of the daughter of my people.
5 Car c'est une journée de commotion et d'écrasement et de confusion que tient le Seigneur, l'Éternel des armées, dans la vallée des visions; on sape les murs, et les cris de détresse vont frapper les montagnes.
For [it is] a day of trouble, and of treading down, and of perplexity by the Lord GOD of hosts in the valley of vision, breaking down the walls, and of crying to the mountains.
6 Elam porte le carquois sur des chars pleins d'hommes et de cavaliers, et Kir tire le bouclier du fourreau.
And Elam bore the quiver with chariots of men [and] horsemen, and Kir uncovered the shield.
7 Et tes plus belles vallées sont remplies de chars, et les cavaliers prennent position entre tes portes.
And it shall come to pass, [that] thy choicest valleys shall be full of chariots, and the horsemen shall set themselves in array at the gate.
8 Et le voile de Juda est levé, et en ce jour tu portes tes regards vers les munitions de la maison de cèdre.
And he uncovered the coverings of Judah, and thou didst look in that day to the armor of the house of the forest.
9 Et vous apercevez les brèches de la ville de David, qui sont nombreuses, et vous recueillez les eaux de l'étang inférieur;
Ye have seen also the breaches of the city of David, that they are many: and ye collected the waters of the lower pool.
10 et vous comptez les maisons de Jérusalem, et vous en abattez pour fortifier les murs,
And ye have numbered the houses of Jerusalem, and the houses have ye broken down to fortify the wall.
11 et vous faites un réservoir entre les deux murs pour les eaux de l'antique étang. Mais vous ne regardez pas vers l'auteur de ces choses, et ne tournez pas les yeux vers Celui qui de loin en a formé le plan.
Ye made also a ditch between the two walls for the water of the old pool: but ye have not looked to its maker, neither had respect to him that fashioned it long ago.
12 Et en ce jour le Seigneur, l'Éternel des armées, vous convie à pleurer, à gémir, à couper vos cheveux et à ceindre le cilice.
And in that day did the Lord GOD of hosts call to weeping, and to mourning, and to baldness, and to girding with sackcloth:
13 Mais voici, plaisir et joie; on tue des taureaux, on égorge des brebis, on mange de la chair, et on boit du vin: « Mangeons et buvons, car demain nous mourrons! »
And behold joy and gladness, slaying oxen, and killing sheep, eating flesh, and drinking wine: let us eat and drink; for to-morrow we shall die.
14 Cependant l'Éternel des armées s'est révélé à mes oreilles: Non, ce crime ne sera pas expié que vous ne soyez morts, dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel des armées.
And it was revealed in my ears by the LORD of hosts, Surely this iniquity shall not be purged from you till ye die, saith the Lord GOD of hosts.
15 Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l'Éternel des armées: Va, rends-toi vers ce courtisan, vers Sebna préposé au palais!
Thus saith the Lord GOD of hosts, Go, repair to this treasurer, [even] to Shebna, who [is] over the house, [and say],
16 « Qu'as-tu à faire ici? et qui as-tu ici, que tu te creuses ici un tombeau, creusant un tombeau sur la hauteur, te taillant dans le roc une demeure?
What hast thou here? and whom hast thou here, that thou hast hewed thee out a sepulcher here, [as] he that heweth him out a sepulcher on high, [and] that graveth a habitation for himself in a rock?
17 Voici, l'Éternel te jettera bas d'un coup vigoureux, et te saisira;
Behold, the LORD will carry thee away with a mighty captivity, and will surely cover thee.
18 Il te fera rouler, rouler, comme une balle sur une terre vaste et spacieuse; là tu mourras, et là seront tes chars magnifiques, toi l'opprobre de la maison de ton maître.
With violence he will surely turn and toss thee [like] a ball into a wide country: there shalt thou die, and there the chariots of thy glory [shall be] the shame of thy lord's house.
19 Et je te culbuterai de ton poste, et Il te débusquera de ta place. »
And I will drive thee from thy station, and from thy state shall he pull thee down.
20 Et en ce jour même j'adresserai vocation à mon serviteur Eliacim, fils de Hilkia;
And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will call my servant Eliakim the son of Hilkiah:
21 et je le revêtirai de ton manteau et le ceindrai de ta ceinture, et je mettrai ton pouvoir en sa main, et il sera un père pour les habitants de Jérusalem et pour la maison de Juda.
And I will clothe him with thy robe, and strengthen him with thy girdle, and I will commit thy government into his hand: and he shall be a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to the house of Judah.
22 Et je mettrai la clef de la maison de David sur son épaule, et il ouvrira, et personne ne fermera; il fermera, et personne n'ouvrira.
And the key of the house of David will I lay upon his shoulder; so he shall open, and none shall shut; and he shall shut, and none shall open.
23 Et je l'enfoncerai comme un clou en lieu sûr, et il sera un trône glorieux pour la maison de son père;
And I will fasten him [as] a nail in a sure place; and he shall be for a glorious throne to his father's house.
24 et il sera le soutien de tout ce qui est la gloire de la maison de son père, des rejetons et des surgeons, de tous les petits vases depuis les bassins jusqu'à toutes les coupes.
And they shall hang upon him all the glory of his father's house, the offspring and the issue, all vessels of small quantity, from the vessels of cups, even to all the vessels of flagons.
25 En ce même jour, dit l'Éternel des armées, sera ôté le clou enfoncé en lieu sûr; il sera abattu et tombera, et le fardeau qu'il portait croulera, car l'Éternel l'a prononcé.
In that day, saith the LORD of hosts, shall the nail that is fastened in the sure place be removed, and be cut down, and fall; and the burden that [was] upon it shall be cut off: for the LORD hath spoken it.
