Isaïe 19
1 Oracle contre l'Egypte. Voici, l'Éternel est monté sur un nuage léger, et s'avance contre l'Egypte; et les idoles de l'Egypte tremblent à son aspect, et le cœur des Égyptiens se fond au dedans d'eux.
A declaration about Egypt. See, Yahweh rides on a swift cloud and is coming to Egypt; the idols of Egypt quake before him, and the hearts of the Egyptians melt within themselves.
2 Et j'arme Égyptien contre Égyptien, afin qu'ils se battent frère contre frère, ami contre ami, ville contre ville, royaume contre royaume.
“I will stir up Egyptians against Egyptians: A man will fight against his brother, and a man against his neighbor; city will be against city, and kingdom against kingdom.
3 Et l'esprit disparaîtra du cœur des Égyptiens, et j'anéantirai leur prudence; alors ils s'adresseront aux idoles et aux devins, aux nécromans et aux habiles;
The spirit of Egypt will be weakened from within. I will destroy his advice, though they sought the advice of idols, dead men's spirits, mediums, and spiritualists.
4 et je livrerai l'Egypte à un maître rigide, et un roi dur les assujettira, dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel des armées.
I will give the Egyptians into the hand of a harsh master, and a strong king will rule over them— this is the declaration of the Lord Yahweh of hosts.”
5 Et l'eau du fleuve sera tarie, et la rivière mise à sec et aride,
The waters of the sea will dry up, and the river will dry up and become empty.
6 et les ruisseaux seront infects, et les canaux d'Egypte chétifs et desséchés, et les roseaux et les joncs malades.
The rivers will become foul; the streams of Egypt will dwindle and dry up; the reeds and flags will wither away.
7 Les prairies du fleuve, des bords du fleuve, et tous les guérets du fleuve seront desséchés, dépouillés et détruits.
The reeds along the Nile, at the mouth of the Nile, and every sown field beside the Nile will become parched, will be driven away, and will be no more.
8 Alors gémiront les pêcheurs, et tous ceux qui jettent l'hameçon dans le fleuve seront en deuil, et ceux qui étendent le filet sur les eaux seront dans la stupeur,
The fishermen will wail and mourn, and all who cast a hook into the Nile will mourn, and those who spread nets on the waters will grieve.
9 et ceux qui travaillent le lin sérancé et tissent de blanches étoffes, dans la confusion.
The workers in combed flax and those who weave white cloth will turn pale.
10 Et les colonnes du pays sont brisées, et tous les mercenaires ont l'âme attristée.
The cloth workers of Egypt will be crushed; all who work for hire will be grieved within themselves.
11 Les Princes de Tsoan ne sont que des insensés, et des sages conseillers de Pharaon la prudence devient stupidité. Comment diriez-vous à Pharaon: « Je suis un fils des sages, un fils des anciens rois »?
The princes of Zoan are completely foolish. The advice of the wisest advisors of Pharaoh has become senseless. How can you say to Pharaoh, “I am the son of wise men, a son of ancient kings?”
12 Où sont-ils donc tes sages? Eh! qu'ils t'annoncent, afin qu'on le sache, ce qu'a arrêté l'Éternel des armées contre l'Egypte.
Where then are your wise men? Let them tell you and make known what Yahweh of hosts plans concerning Egypt.
13 Les Princes de Tsoan sont aliénés, les Princes de Noph abusés, et l'Egypte égarée par les chefs de ses tribus.
The princes of Zoan have become fools, the princes of Memphis are deceived; they have made Egypt go astray, who are the cornerstones of her tribes.
14 L'Éternel a versé en eux un esprit d'erreur, afin qu'ils égarent les Égyptiens dans tous leurs actes, comme un homme ivre tourne et s'égare dans son vomissement;
Yahweh has mixed a spirit of distortion into her midst, and they have led Egypt astray in all she does, like a drunk staggering in his vomit.
15 et il ne sort de l'Egypte pas un fait exécuté par la tête ni la queue, la branche de palmier ni le jonc.
There is nothing anyone can do for Egypt, whether head or tail, palm branch or reed.
16 En ce jour-là, les Égyptiens seront comme des femmes, et craintifs et tremblants, en voyant s'agiter la main que l'Éternel des armées agitera sur eux.
In that day, the Egyptians will be like women. They will tremble and fear because of the upraised hand of Yahweh of hosts that he raises over them.
17 Alors le pays de Juda sera la terreur de l'Egypte, et tous ceux qu'on fera penser à lui prendront l'alarme, à cause de l'arrêt de l'Éternel prononcé contre elle.
The land of Judah will become a cause of staggering to Egypt. Whenever anyone reminds them of her, they will be afraid, because of the plan of Yahweh, that he is planning against them.
18 En ce même temps il y aura cinq villes au pays d'Egypte, parlant la langue de Canaan et assermentées à l'Éternel des armées: Ville de salut sera le nom de l'une d'elles.
In that day there will be five cities in the land of Egypt that speak the language of Canaan and swear allegiance to Yahweh of hosts. One of these will be called The City of the Sun.
19 En ce même temps, il y aura un autel de l'Éternel au sein du pays d'Egypte, et sur sa frontière un cippe consacré à l'Éternel:
In that day there will be an altar to Yahweh in the middle of the land of Egypt, and a stone pillar at the border to Yahweh.
20 ce qui sera pour l'Éternel des armées un signe et un témoignage dans le pays d'Egypte; car ils crieront à l'Éternel contre les oppresseurs, et Il leur enverra un sauveur et un vengeur, afin de les délivrer.
It will be as a sign and a witness to Yahweh of hosts in the land of Egypt. When they cry to Yahweh because of oppressors, he will send them a savior and a defender, and he will deliver them.
21 Et l'Éternel se manifestera aux Égyptiens, et les Égyptiens apprendront à connaître l'Éternel en ce temps-là, et offriront des victimes et des oblations, et feront des vœux à l'Éternel, et les accompliront.
Yahweh will become known to Egypt, and the Egyptians will acknowledge Yahweh on that day. They will worship with sacrifices and offerings, and will make vows to Yahweh and fulfill them.
22 Ainsi l'Éternel frappe l'Egypte, frappant mais guérissant, et eux se convertissent à l'Éternel, qui se laisse fléchir par eux et les guérit.
Yahweh will afflict Egypt, afflicting and healing. They will return to Yahweh; he will hear their prayer and will heal them.
23 En ce même temps, il y aura une route d'Egypte en Assyrie, et l'Assyrien viendra en Egypte, et l'Égyptien ira en Assyrie, et l'Égyptien avec l'Assyrien servira [l'Éternel].
In that day there will be a highway from Egypt to Assyria, and the Assyrian will come to Egypt, and the Egyptian to Assyria; and the Egyptians will worship with the Assyrians.
24 En ce même temps, Israël sera, lui troisième, uni à l'Egypte et à l'Assyrie, bénédiction au milieu de la terre
In that day, Israel will be the third with Egypt and Assyria, a blessing in the midst of the earth;
25 que bénira l'Éternel des armées en disant: Bénie soit l'Egypte, ma nation, et l'Assyrie, œuvre de mes mains, et Israël, mon héritage!
Yahweh of hosts will bless them and say, “Blessed be Egypt, my people; Assyria, the work of my hands; and Israel, my inheritance.”
