Genèse 11
1 Et une seule langue et un seul langage existait sur toute la terre.
Then the whole earth was of one language and one speache.
2 Et il arriva que dans leurs migrations à l'Orient ils rencontrèrent une plaine au pays de Sinear, et ils s'y fixèrent.
And as they went from the East, they found a plaine in the land of Shinar, and there they abode.
3 Et ils se dirent l'un à l'autre: Allons! fabriquons des briques, et nous les ferons cuire. Et les briques leur tinrent lieu de pierres, et l'asphalte leur tint lieu de mortier.
And they said one to another, Come, let vs make bricke, and burne it in the fire. So they had bricke for stone, and slime had they in steade of morter.
4 Et ils dirent: Allons! bâtissons-nous une ville et une tour dont la cime touche au ciel, et faisons-nous un nom, afin que nous ne soyons pas dispersés sur la face de toute la terre.
Also they said, Goe to, let vs builde vs a citie and a towre, whose top may reache vnto the heauen, that we may get vs a name, lest we be scattered vpon the whole earth.
5 Alors l'Éternel descendit pour voir la ville et la tour que bâtissaient les fils des hommes.
But the Lord came downe, to see the citie and towre, which the sonnes of men builded.
6 Et l' Éternel dit: Voici, c'est un seul peuple et une seule langue pour eux tous, et c'est le commencement de leur entreprise, et maintenant ils ne seraient entravés dans rien de ce qu'ils projettent d'exécuter.
And the Lord said, Beholde, the people is one, and they all haue one language, and this they begin to doe, neither can they now be stopped from whatsoeuer they haue imagined to do.
7 Allons! descendons et confondons là leur langage, afin que l'un n'entende plus le langage de l'autre.
Come on, let vs goe downe, and there confound their language, that euery one perceiue not anothers speache.
8 Et l'Éternel les dispersa ainsi de là sur la face de toute la terre, et ils discontinuèrent de bâtir la ville.
So ye Lord scattered them from thence vpon all the earth, and they left off to build the citie.
9 C'est pour cela qu'on l'appela du nom de Babel; car c'est là que l'Éternel confondit le langage de toute la terre, et c'est de là que l'Éternel les dispersa sur la face de toute la terre.
Therefore the name of it was called Babel, because the Lord did there confounde the language of all the earth: from thence then did the Lord scatter them vpon all the earth.
10 C'est ici l'histoire de Sem. – Sem était âgé de cent ans lorsqu'il engendra Arphachsad, deux ans après le déluge.
These are the generations of Shem: Shem was an hundreth yeere olde, and begate Arpachshad two yeere after the flood.
11 Et après la naissance d'Arphachsad, Sem vécut cinq cents ans et il engendra des fils et des filles.
And Shem liued, after he begate Arpachshad, fiue hundreth yeeres, and begate sonnes and daughters.
12 Et Arphachsad avait trente-cinq ans de vie lorsqu'il engendra Sélach.
Also Arpachshad liued fiue and thirtie yeeres, and begate Shelah.
13 Et après la naissance de Sélach, Arphachsad vécut quatre cent-trois ans, et il engendra des fils et des filles.
And Arpachshad liued, after he begate Shelah, foure hundreth and three yeeres, and begate sonnes and daughters.
14 Et Selach avait trente ans de vie lorsqu'il engendra Héber.
And Shelah liued thirtie yeeres, and begat Eber.
15 Et après la naissance de Héber, Sélach vécut quatre cent-trois ans, et il engendra des fils et des filles.
So Shelah liued, after he begat Eber, foure hundreth and three yeeres, and begat sonnes and daughters.
16 Et Héber vécut trente-quatre ans, puis il engendra Péleg.
Likewise Eber liued foure and thirtie yeres, and begate Peleg.
17 Et après la naissance de Péleg, Héber vécut quatre cent trente ans, et il engendra des fils et des filles.
So Eber liued, after he begate Peleg, foure hundreth and thirtie yeeres, and begate sonnes and daughters
18 Et Péleg vécut trente ans, puis il engendra Régu.
And Peleg liued thirtie yeeres, and begate Reu.
19 Et après la naissance de Régu, Péleg vécut deux cent-neuf ans, et il engendra des fils et des filles.
And Peleg liued, after he begate Reu, two hundreth and nine yeeres, and begate sonnes and daughters.
20 Et Régu vécut trente-deux ans, puis il engendra Sérug.
Also Reu liued two and thirtie yeeres, and begate Serug.
21 Et après la naissance de Sérug, Régu vécut deux cent-sept ans, et il engendra des fils et des filles.
So Reu liued, after he begate Serug, two hundreth and seuen yeeres, and begate sonnes and daughters.
22 Et Sérug vécut trente ans, puis il engendra Nachor.
Moreouer Serug liued thirtie yeeres, and begate Nahor.
23 Et après la naissance de Nachor, Sérug vécut deux cents ans, et il engendra des fils et des filles.
And Serug liued, after he begate Nahor, two hundreth yeeres, and begate sonnes and daughters.
24 Et Nachor vécut vingt-neuf ans, puis il engendra Thérach.
And Nahor liued nine and twentie yeeres, and begate Terah.
25 Et après la naissance de Thérach, Nachor vécut cent dix-neuf ans, et il engendra des fils et des filles.
So Nahor liued, after he begate Terah, an hundreth and nineteene yeeres, and begat sonnes and daughters.
26 Et Thérach ayant soixante-dix ans de vie engendra Abram, Nachor et Haran.
So Terah liued seuentie yeeres, and begate Abram, Nahor, and Haran.
27 Et c'est ici l'histoire de Thérach. – Thérach engendra Abram, Nachor et Haran, et Haran engendra Lot.
Nowe these are the generations of Terah: Terah begate Abram, Nahor, and Haran: and Haran begate Lot.
28 Et Haran mourut avant Thérach, son père, au pays de sa naissance, à Ur en Chaldée.
Then Haran died before Terah his father in the land of his natiuitie, in Vr of the Caldees.
29 Et Abram et Nachor prirent femme: le nom de la femme d'Abram était Saraï, et le nom de la femme de Nachor, Milcah, fille de Haran, père de Milcah, et père de Jiscah.
So Abram and Nahor tooke them wiues. The name of Abrams wife was Sarai, and the name of Nahors wife Milcah, the daughter of Haran, the father of Milcah, and the father of Iscah.
30 Or Saraï était stérile, elle était sans enfants.
But Sarai was barren, and had no childe.
31 Alors Thérach prit Abram, son fils, et Lot, fils de Haran, fils de son fils, et Saraï, sa bru, femme d'Abram, son fils, et ils émigrèrent l'un avec l'autre d'Ur en Chaldée pour gagner le pays de Canaan; et ils atteignirent Charan, et ils s'y fixèrent.
Then Terah tooke Abram his sonne, and Lot the sonne of Haran, his sonnes sonne, and Sarai his daughter in lawe, his sonne Abrams wife: and they departed together from Vr of the Caldees, to goe into the land of Canaan, and they came to Haran, and dwelt there.
32 Et les jours de Thérach furent deux cent-cinq ans, et Thérach mourut à Charan. –
So the dayes of Terah were two hundreth and fiue yeeres, and Terah died in Haran.
