Esdras 3
1 Et l'on touchait au septième mois, et les enfants d'Israël étaient dans [leurs] villes, et le peuple se rassembla comme un seul homme à Jérusalem.
And when the seuenth moneth was come, and the children of Israel were in their cities, the people assembled themselues as one man vnto Ierusalem.
2 Alors se levèrent Jésuah, fils de Jotsadac, et ses frères, les Prêtres, et Zorobabel, fils de Sealthiel, et ses frères, et ils bâtirent l'autel du Dieu d'Israël pour y offrir des holocaustes aux termes du texte de la Loi de Moïse, l'homme de Dieu.
Then stoode vp Ieshua rhe sonne of Iozadak, and his brethren the Priests, and Zerubbabel the sonne of Shealtiel, and his brethren, and builded the altar of the God of Israel, to offer burnt offerings thereon, as it is written in ye Lawe of Moses the man of God,
3 Et ils assirent l'autel sur ses fondements, parce qu'ils étaient sous la terreur que leur donnaient les peuples des pays [voisins], et ils y offrirent des holocaustes à l'Éternel, les holocaustes du matin et du soir.
And they set the altar vpon his bases (for feare was among them, because of the people of those countreis) therefore they offered burnt offrings thereon vnto the Lord, euen burnt offrings in the morning, and at euen.
4 Et ils firent la fête des Loges aux termes du texte écrit, et offrirent jour par jour des holocaustes, selon le nombre voulu et le rite, l'ordinaire de chaque jour,
They kept also the feast of the Tabernacles, as it is written, and the burnt offring dayly, by nomber according to the custome day by day,
5 et après cela les holocaustes perpétuels et ceux des nouvelles lunes et de toutes les solennités consacrées de l'Éternel, et pour tous ceux qui faisaient à l'Éternel des offrandes spontanées.
And afterwarde the continuall bnrnt offring, both in the newe moneths and in all the feast dayes that were consecrate vnto the Lord, and in all the oblations willingly offered vnto the Lord.
6 A partir du premier jour du septième mois ils commencèrent à sacrifier les holocaustes à l'Éternel. Cependant les fondements du Temple de l'Éternel n'étaient point encore posés.
From the first day of the seuenth moneth began they to offer burnt offrings vnto the Lord: but the foundation of the Temple of the Lord was not layed.
7 Et ils donnèrent de l'argent aux tailleurs de pierre et aux charpentiers, et des vivres et des boissons et de l'huile aux Sidoniens et aux Tyriens pour qu'ils leur amenassent du bois de cèdre du Liban par mer à Joppe, selon l'autorisation qu'ils avaient reçue de Cyrus, roi de Perse.
They gaue money also vnto the masons, and to the workemen, and meat and drinke, and oyle vnto them of Zidon and of Tyrus, to bring them cedar wood from Lebanon to the sea vnto Iapho, according to the graunt that they had of Cyrus King of Persia.
8 Et la seconde année depuis leur retour à la Maison de Dieu à Jérusalem, au second mois, commencèrent Zorobabel, fils de Sealthiel, et Jésuah, fils de Jotsadac, et le reste de leurs frères, les Prêtres et les Lévites et tous ceux qui de la captivité étaient revenus à Jérusalem, et ils établirent les Lévites de vingt ans et au-dessus pour présider à la bâtisse de la Maison de l'Éternel.
And in the seconde yeere of their comming vnto the house of God in Ierusalem in the second moneth began Zerubbabel the sonne of Shealtiel, and Ieshua the sonne of Iozadak, and the remnant of their brethren the Priests and the Leuites, and all they that were come out of the captiuitie vnto Ierusalem, and appointed the Leuites from twentie yeere olde and aboue, to set forwarde the worke of the house of the Lord.
9 Et Jésuah, ses fils et ses frères, Cadmiel et ses fils, fils de Juda, furent à leur poste comme un seul homme pour surveiller les ouvriers occupés à la maison de Dieu; [de même] les fils de Hènadad, leurs fils et leurs frères, les Lévites.
And Ieshua stood with his sonnes, and his brethren, and Kadmiel with his sonnes, and the sonnes of Iudah together to set forward ye workemen in the house of God, and the sonnes of Henadad with their sonnes, and their brethren the Leuites.
10 Et lorsque les constructeurs posaient les fondements du Temple de l'Éternel, les Prêtres en costume portaient présence, avec des trompettes, ainsi que les Lévites, fils d'Asaph, avec des cymbales pour louer l'Éternel selon le mode de David, roi d'Israël.
And when the builders layed the foundation of the Temple of the Lord, they appoynted the Priestes in their apparel with trumpets, and the Leuites the sonnes of Asaph with cymbales, to prayse the Lord, after the ordinance of Dauid King of Israel.
11 Et ils se répondaient en chantant, et en louant l'Éternel de ce qu'il est bon, et sa miséricorde éternelle envers Israël. Et tout le peuple acclama par une puissante acclamation à la louange de l'Éternel, la fondation de la Maison de l'Éternel.
Thus they sang when they gaue prayse, and when they gaue thankes vnto the Lord, For he is good, for his mercie endureth for euer toward Israel. And all the people shouted with a great shoute, when they praysed the Lord, because the foundation of the house of the Lord was layed.
12 Mais plusieurs des Prêtres et des Lévites, et des chefs des maisons patriarcales, vieillards qui avaient vu la première Maison dans sa structure, quand cette maison fut devant leurs yeux, se mirent à pleurer à grand bruit; d'un autre côté plusieurs élevaient la voix en cris de joie.
Many also of the Priests and the Leuites and the chiefe of the fathers, ancient men which had seene the first house, (when the foundation of this house was layed before their eyes) wept with a loud voyce, and many shouted aloud for ioy,
13 Et le peuple ne pouvait distinguer entre le bruit des acclamations de joie et le bruit des pleurs dans le peuple; car le peuple poussait une immense clameur dont le bruit s'entendait au loin.
So that the people coulde not discerne the sound of the shoute for ioy, from the noyse of the weeping of the people: for the people shouted with a loude crie, and the noyse was heard farre off.
