Ézéchiel 9
1 Ensuite Il prononça à mes oreilles d'une voix forte ces paroles: Faites avancer les châtiments de cette ville, chacun avec son instrument de destruction à la main!
Then I heard Him call out in a loud voice, saying, “Draw near, O executioners of the city, each with a weapon of destruction in hand.”
2 Et voici, six hommes arrivèrent par le chemin de la porte supérieure qui donne au nord, ayant chacun à la main un instrument pour frapper; et au milieu d'eux il y avait un homme vêtu de lin, qui portait une écritoire à sa ceinture. Et ils vinrent se placer à côté de l'autel d'airain.
And I saw six men coming from the direction of the Upper Gate, which faces north, each with a weapon of slaughter in his hand. With them was another man clothed in linen who had a writing kit at his side. And they came in and stood beside the bronze altar.
3 Et la gloire du Dieu d'Israël, s'élevant du Chérubin sur lequel elle était, se porta au seuil de la maison et appela l'homme vêtu de lin, qui avait une écritoire à sa ceinture.
Then the glory of the God of Israel rose from above the cherubim, where it had been, and moved to the threshold of the temple. And He called to the man clothed in linen who had the writing kit at his side.
4 Et l'Éternel lui dit: Passe au milieu de la ville, au milieu de Jérusalem, et marque d'un signe le front des hommes qui soupirent et gémissent de toutes les abominations commises au milieu d'elle.
“Go throughout the city of Jerusalem,” said the LORD, “and put a mark on the foreheads of the men sighing and groaning over all the abominations committed there.”
5 Et Il dit aux autres à mes oreilles: Traversez la ville après lui, et frappez, soyez sans pitié et sans miséricorde!
And as I listened, He said to the others, “Follow him through the city and start killing; do not show pity or spare anyone!
6 Vieillards, jeunes hommes, et vierges, et petits enfants, et femmes, tuez-les jusqu'à extermination; mais pour quiconque portera le signe, ne le touchez pas; et commencez par mon sanctuaire. Et ils commencèrent par les vieillards qui étaient devant la maison.
Slaughter the old men, the young men and maidens, the women and children; but do not go near anyone who has the mark. Now begin at My sanctuary.” So they began with the elders who were before the temple.
7 Puis Il leur dit: Souillez la maison et remplissez les parvis de morts: sortez! Et étant sortis, ils portèrent leurs coups dans la ville.
Then He told them, “Defile the temple and fill the courts with the slain. Go forth!” So they went out and began killing throughout the city.
8 Et comme ils frappaient, et que seul j'étais resté, je tombai sur ma face et je m'écriai, et dis: Ah! Seigneur Éternel, veux-tu donc détruire tous les restes d'Israël en versant ta colère sur Jérusalem?
While they were killing, I was left alone. And I fell facedown and cried out, “Oh, Lord GOD, when You pour out Your wrath on Jerusalem, will You destroy the entire remnant of Israel?”
9 Et Il me dit: Le crime de la maison d'Israël et de Juda passe toute mesure, et le pays est rempli de meurtres, et la ville est remplie de prévarications. Car ils disent: L'Éternel a abandonné le pays, et l'Éternel ne voit rien.
He replied, “The iniquity of the house of Israel and Judah is exceedingly great. The land is full of bloodshed, and the city is full of perversity. For they say, ‘The LORD has forsaken the land; the LORD does not see.’
10 Mais moi aussi je serai sans pitié et sans compassion; je ferai retomber leurs œuvres sur leurs têtes.
But as for Me, I will not look on them with pity, nor will I spare them. I will bring their deeds down upon their own heads.”
11 Et voici, l'homme vêtu de lin, qui avait une écritoire à sa ceinture, fit la réponse et dit: J'ai fait comme tu m'as commandé.
Then the man clothed in linen with the writing kit at his side reported back, “I have done as You commanded.”
