Ézéchiel 7
1 Et la parole de l'Éternel me fut adressée en ces mots:
MOREOVER the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,
2 Et toi, fils de l'homme, ainsi prononce le Seigneur, l'Éternel, sur le pays d'Israël: Une fin, il vient une fin pour les quatre extrémités du pays!
Also, thou son of man, thus saith the Lord God unto the land of Israel; An end, the end is come upon the four corners of the land.
3 Maintenant la fin arrive pour toi, je vais lancer ma fureur contre toi, et te juger d'après tes voies, et faire retomber sur toi toutes tes abominations.
Now is the end come upon thee, and I will send mine anger upon thee, and will judge thee according to thy ways, and will recompense upon thee all thine abominations.
4 Mes yeux seront sans pitié pour toi, et je n'aurai point de compassion; mais je ferai retomber sur toi ta conduite, et tes abominations demeureront en toi, afin que vous reconnaissiez que je suis l'Éternel.
And mine eye shall not spare thee, neither will I have pity: but I will recompense thy ways upon thee, and thine abominations shall be in the midst of thee: and ye shall know that I am the Lord.
5 Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l'Éternel: Un malheur! malheur unique! voici, il arrive.
Thus saith the Lord God; An evil, an only evil, behold, is come.
6 La fin arrive; elle arrive la fin: c'en est fait de toi! voici, elle arrive.
An end is come, the end is come: it watcheth for thee; behold, it is come.
7 Ton tour vient, habitant du pays! Le temps arrive, le jour est proche; c'est une rumeur, et non les cris joyeux des montagnes.
The morning is come unto thee, O thou that dwellest in the land: the time is come, the day of trouble is near, and not the sounding again of the mountains.
8 Je vais incessamment verser ma colère sur toi, et assouvir ma fureur sur toi, et te juger selon tes voies, et faire retomber sur toi toutes tes abominations.
Now will I shortly pour out my fury upon thee, and accomplish mine anger upon thee: and I will judge thee according to thy ways, and will recompense thee for all thine abominations.
9 Mes yeux seront sans pitié, et je n'aurai point de compassion; selon tes œuvres je te rendrai, et tes abominations seront dans ton sein, afin que vous reconnaissiez que c'est moi l'Éternel, qui frappe.
And mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity: I will recompense thee according to thy ways and thine abominations that are in the midst of thee; and ye shall know that I am the Lord that smiteth.
10 Voici le jour! voici, il arrive! le tour vient! la verge fleurit, l'orgueil germe.
Behold the day, behold, it is come: the morning is gone forth; the rod hath blossomed, pride hath budded.
11 La violence s'élève comme la verge de l'impiété. D'eux il ne restera rien, ni de leur foule, ni de leur multitude, et ils n'auront plus de magnificence.
Violence is risen up into a rod of wickedness: none of them shall remain, nor of their multitude, nor of any of theirs: neither shall there be wailing for them.
12 Le temps arrive, le jour est imminent. Que l'acheteur ne se réjouisse pas, et que le vendeur ne s'afflige pas; car il y a courroux contre toute leur multitude.
The time is come, the day draweth near: let not the buyer rejoice, nor the seller mourn: for wrath is upon all the multitude thereof.
13 Car le vendeur ne recouvrera pas ce qu'il a vendu, fût-il encore parmi les vivants; car la prophétie faite contre toute leur multitude ne sera pas retirée, et quiconque vit dans son impiété, ne pourra subsister.
For the seller shall not return to that which is sold, although they were yet alive: for the vision is touching the whole multitude thereof, which shall not return; neither shall any strengthen himself in the iniquity of his life.
14 On sonne la trompette, et l'on prépare tout; mais personne ne marche au combat; car ma colère est contre toute leur multitude.
They have blown the trumpet, even to make all ready; but none goeth to the battle: for my wrath is upon all the multitude thereof.
15 Au dehors l'épée, et au dedans la peste et la famine. Qui sera dans les champs, mourra par l'épée, et qui sera dans la ville, par la famine et la peste sera dévoré.
The sword is without, and the pestilence and the famine within: he that is in the field shall die with the sword; and he that is in the city, famine and pestilence shall devour him.
16 Et s'il en échappe, ils seront sur les montagnes, comme les colombes des vallées, tous gémissant, chacun pour son crime.
But they that escape of them shall escape, and shall be on the mountains like doves of the valleys, all of them mourning, every one for his iniquity.
17 Toutes les mains sont défaillantes, et tous les genoux se fondent en eau.
All hands shall be feeble, and all knees shall be weak as water.
18 Ils se ceignent du cilice, et l'effroi les enveloppe: la honte est sur tous les visages, et toutes les têtes sont devenues chauves.
They shall also gird themselves with sackcloth, and horror shall cover them; and shame shall be upon all faces, and baldness upon all their heads.
19 Ils jetteront leur argent dans les rues, et leur or sera pour eux de l'ordure. Leur argent ni leur or ne pourra les sauver au jour de la colère de l'Éternel; ils ne pourront en assouvir leurs désirs, ni en remplir leurs entrailles; car c'est ce qui les fit tomber dans le crime.
They shall cast their silver in the streets, and their gold shall be removed: their silver and their gold shall not be able to deliver them in the day of the wrath of the Lord: they shall not satisfy their souls, neither fill their bowels: because it is the stumblingblock of their iniquity.
20 L'éclat qui les pare, excita leur orgueil, et ils en ont fabriqué leurs abominations et leurs infamies; c'est pourquoi je le rendrai pour eux de l'ordure,
As for the beauty of his ornament, he set it in majesty: but they made the images of their abominations and of their detestable things therein: therefore have I set it far from them.
21 et j'en ferai la proie des étrangers, et le butin des impies de la terre, afin qu'ils le souillent.
And I will give it into the hands of the strangers for a prey, and to the wicked of the earth for a spoil; and they shall pollute it.
22 Et je détournerai d'eux mon visage; et l'on profanera mon secret [sanctuaire]: des furieux y pénétreront et le profaneront.
My face will I turn also from them, and they shall pollute my secret place: for the robbers shall enter into it, and defile it.
23 Prépare les chaînes! Car le pays est rempli du crime de sang versé, et la ville est remplie de violence.
Make a chain: for the land is full of bloody crimes, and the city is full of violence.
24 Et je ferai venir les plus méchants d'entre les peuples, pour qu'ils s'emparent de leurs maisons; et je mettrai un terme à l'orgueil des puissants, et leurs sanctuaires seront profanés.
Wherefore I will bring the worst of the heathen, and they shall possess their houses: I will also make the pomp of the strong to cease; and their holy places shall be defiled.
25 La ruine arrive, et ils cherchent le salut, mais il n'y en a point.
Destruction cometh; and they shall seek peace, and there shall be none.
26 Il arrive désastre sur désastre; on entend nouvelle sur nouvelle; ils demandent des oracles aux prophètes, mais la loi échappe aux sacrificateurs, et la prudence aux vieillards.
Mischief shall come upon mischief, and rumour shall be upon rumour; then shall they seek a vision of the prophet; but the law shall perish from the priest, and counsel from the ancients.
27 Le roi est dans le deuil, et le prince est enveloppé d'épouvante, et les mains du peuple du pays sont tremblantes. D'après leur conduite je veux les traiter, et selon leurs mérites je les jugerai, afin qu'ils reconnaissent que je suis l'Éternel.
The king shall mourn, and the prince shall be clothed with desolation, and the hands of the people of the land shall be troubled: I will do unto them after their way, and according to their deserts will I judge them; and they shall know that I am the Lord.
