Ézéchiel 24
1 La neuvième année, le dixième mois, le dixième jour du mois, la parole de l'Éternel me fut adressée en ces mots:
And the word of the Lord came to me in the ninth year, in the tenth month, on the tenth day of the month, saying,
2 Fils de l'homme, note le nom de ce jour, de ce jour-ci! Le roi de Babel s'avance sur Jérusalem en ce jour même.
Son of man, put down in writing this very day: The king of Babylon let loose the weight of his attack against Jerusalem on this very day.
3 Et propose à la race rebelle une parabole et dis-leur: Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l'Éternel: Place, place la chaudière et verses-y aussi de l'eau;
And make a comparison for this uncontrolled people, and say to them, This is what the Lord has said: Put on the cooking-pot, put it on the fire and put water in it:
4 réunis et mets-y ses morceaux, toute espèce de bons morceaux, les cuisses et les épaules; remplis-la des meilleurs os.
And get the bits together, the fat tail, every good part, the leg and the top part of it: make it full of the best bones.
5 Prends l'élite du troupeau, et aussi une pile de bois à proportion de ses os, et mets-la dessous; fais-la bouillir, de sorte que les os y cuisent aussi.
Take the best of the flock, put much wood under it: see that its bits are boiling well; let the bones be cooked inside it.
6 C'est pourquoi ainsi parle le Seigneur, l'Éternel: Malheur à la ville meurtrière, chaudière rouillée, dont la rouille ne se détache pas! Tires-en morceau après morceau, et qu'on ne les choisisse pas au sort!
For this is what the Lord has said: A curse is on the town of blood, the cooking-pot which is unclean inside, which has never been made clean! take out its bits; its fate is still to come on it.
7 Car c'est chez elle qu'elle a versé le sang: elle l'a versé sur le roc nu, et ne l'a point répandu sur la terre, où on aurait pu le couvrir de poussière.
For her blood is in her; she has put it on the open rock not draining it on to the earth so that it might be covered with dust;
8 C'est afin d'exciter ma colère et pour tirer vengeance que j'ai permis qu'elle répandît le sang sur le roc nu, pour qu'il ne pût être couvert.
In order that it might make wrath come up to give punishment, she has put her blood on the open rock, so that it may not be covered.
9 Aussi ainsi parle le Seigneur, l'Éternel: Malheur à la ville meurtrière! Moi aussi j'élèverai une pile de bois.
For this cause the Lord has said: A curse is on the town of blood! and I will make great the burning mass.
10 Entasse le bois, allume le feu, cuis les viandes, et mets-y l'assaisonnement, et que les os soient brûlés!
Put on much wood, heating up the fire, boiling the flesh well, and making the soup thick, and let the bones be burned.
11 Et place-la vide sur les charbons, afin que son airain s'échauffe et devienne brûlant, et que sa souillure y fonde, et que sa rouille soit consumée.
And I will put her on the coals so that she may be heated and her brass burned, so that what is unclean in her may become soft and her waste be completely taken away.
12 Je m'y fatigue et m'y peine, mais son épaisse rouille ne s'en détache pas, la rouille résiste au feu.
I have made myself tired to no purpose: still all the waste which is in her has not come out, it has an evil smell.
13 Dans ta souillure il y a du crime, parce que je voulais te purifier, et que tu ne devins pas pure. Tu ne seras plus purifiée de la souillure, que je n'aie assouvi ma colère sur toi.
As for your unclean purpose: because I have been attempting to make you clean, but you have not been made clean from it, you will not be made clean till I have let loose my passion on you in full measure.
14 Moi l'Éternel, je l'ai dit: le temps en vient, et je l'exécuterai; je ne veux ni m'en désister, ni avoir pitié ou repentir. On te jugera selon ta conduite et tes forfaits, dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel.
I the Lord have said the word and I will do it; I will not go back or have mercy, and my purpose will not be changed; in the measure of your ways and of your evil doings you will be judged, says the Lord.
15 Et la parole de l'Éternel me-fut adressée en ces mots:
And the word of the Lord came to me, saying,
16 Fils de l'homme, voici, je vais t'enlever par un coup le délice de tes yeux, et tu ne gémiras ni ne pleureras, et que les larmes ne te viennent pas aux yeux.
Son of man, see, I am taking away the desire of your eyes by disease: but let there be no sorrow or weeping or drops running from your eyes.
17 Soupire en silence, ne prends pas le deuil des morts, attache ta tiare à ta tête, et mets tes souliers à tes pieds, ne te voile pas la barbe et ne mange pas le pain de condoléance.
Let there be no sound of sorrow; make no weeping for your dead, put on your head-dress and your shoes on your feet, let not your lips be covered, and do not take the food of those in grief.
18 Et comme j'avais parlé au peuple le matin, ma femme mourut le soir; et le matin j'exécutai l'ordre que j'avais reçu.
So in the morning I was teaching the people and in the evening death took my wife; and in the morning I did what I had been ordered to do.
19 Alors le peuple me dit: Ne nous expliqueras-tu point quel sens a pour nous ce que tu fais là?
And the people said to me, Will you not make clear to us the sense of these things; is it for us you do them?
20 Et je leur dis: La parole de l'Éternel m'a été adressée en ces mots:
Then I said to them, The word of the Lord came to me, saying,
21 Dis à la maison d'Israël: Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l Éternel: Voici, je vais profaner mon sanctuaire, votre orgueil et votre assurance, le délice de vos yeux et l'amour de vos âmes; et vos fils et vos filles que vous avez laissés, périront par l'épée.
Say to the people of Israel, The Lord has said, See, I will make my holy place unclean, the pride of your strength, the pleasure of your eyes, and the desire of your soul; and your sons and daughters, who did not come with you here, will be put to the sword.
22 Et vous ferez comme je viens de faire: vous ne vous voilerez point la barbe, ne mangerez point le pain de condoléance,
And you will do as I have done, not covering your lips or taking the food of those in grief.
23 et vous aurez vos tiares à vos têtes, et vos souliers à vos pieds; vous ne gémirez ni ne pleurerez, mais vous dépérirez par l'effet de vos crimes et vous soupirerez vis-à-vis l'un de l'autre. Et ainsi Ézéchiel sera pour vous un signe prophétique;
And your head-dresses will be on your heads and your shoes on your feet: there will be no sorrow or weeping; but you will be wasting away in the punishment of your evil-doing, and you will be looking at one another in wonder.
24 tout ce qu'il a fait, vous le ferez, quand le temps sera venu, et vous saurez que je suis le Seigneur, l'Éternel.
And Ezekiel will be a sign to you; everything he has done you will do: when this takes place, you will be certain that I am the Lord.
25 Pour toi, fils de l'homme, le jour où je leur ôterai ce qui fait leur assurance, leur joie et leur gloire, le délice de leurs yeux, et l'affection de leurs âmes, leurs fils et leurs filles,
And as for you, son of man, your mouth will be shut in the day when I take from them their strength, the joy of their glory, the desire of their eyes, and that on which their hearts are fixed, and their sons and daughters.
26 ce jour-là même un homme qui s'échappera, viendra faire entendre cela à tes oreilles.
In that day, one who has got away safe will come to you to give you news of it.
27 En ce jour-là même, ta bouche s'ouvrira de concert avec cet homme échappé, et tu parleras et ne seras plus muet. Et tu seras pour eux un signe prophétique, et ils sauront que je suis l'Éternel.
In that day your mouth will be open to him who has got away safe, and you will say words to him and your lips will no longer be shut: so you will be a sign to them and they will be certain that I am the Lord.
