Ézéchiel 15
1 Et la parole de l'Éternel me fut adressée en ces mots:
And the word of Yahweh came unto me saying:
2 Fils de l'homme, qu'aurait de plus que tout autre bois la vigne, le sarment, quand il est parmi les bois coupés dans la forêt?
Son of man, What can the vine-tree be more than any other tree, —any branch which hath been found among the trees of the forest?
3 En tirera-t-on du bois pour en faire un ouvrage? En tirera-t-on un piquet pour y suspendre toutes sortes de meubles?
Shall there be taken from it wood, to be made into any work? Or will men take therefrom a peg, to hang thereon any vessel?
4 Voici, on le met au feu pour l'alimenter. Quand le feu en a dévoré les deux bouts et consumé le milieu, est-il alors bon à être travaillé?
Lo! into the fire, it is given up for fuel, — The two ends thereof, doth the fire devour, And the middle thereof is charred, Is it fit for any work?
5 Voici, quand il était entier, on ne pouvait en faire aucun ouvrage; combien moins, quand le feu l'a dévoré et consumé, pourra-t-on en faire un ouvrage!
Lo! while it was yet whole, it could not be made into any work, — how much less when! the fire hath devoured it. and it is charred, can it still be made into any work?
6 Aussi, ainsi parle le Seigneur, l'Éternel: Tel le bois de la vigne que je mets au feu avec le bois de la forêt, pour l'alimenter, ainsi je livrerai les habitants de Jérusalem.
Therefore, Thus, saith My Lord Yahweh, As a vine-tree among the trees of the forest, which I have given up to the fire for fuel, so have I given up the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
7 Et je tournerai ma face contre eux; s'ils se tirent d'un feu, un autre feu les dévorera, afin que vous reconnaissiez que je suis l'Éternel, quand je tournerai ma face contre eux.
Therefore will I set my face against them, Out of one fire, have they come forth But another fire, shall devour them, —So shall ye know that, I, am Yahweh, by my setting my face against them;
8 Et je ferai du pays un désert, parce qu'ils se sont rendus coupables, dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel.
I will therefore give up the land as a desolation, —because they have committed treachery, Declareth My Lord., Yahweh.
