Deutéronome 22
1 Apercevant le bœuf de ton frère ou sa brebis, qui errent, ne les esquive pas; ramène-les à ton frère.
Thou shalt not see thy brother's ox or his sheep go astray, and hide thyself from them: thou shalt in any case bring them again to thy brother.
2 Et si ton frère n'est pas à ta proximité, et si tu ne les connais pas, recueille-les dans ta maison et garde-les chez toi, jusqu'à ce que ton frère vienne les réclamer; et alors rends-les-lui.
And if thy brother shall not [be] nigh to thee, or if thou shalt not know him, then thou shalt bring it to thy own house, and it shall be with thee until thy brother shall seek after it, and thou shalt restore it to him again.
3 Et ainsi feras-tu s'il s'agit de son âne et ainsi feras-tu pour son manteau et ainsi feras-tu pour tout objet perdu que ton frère aura perdu et que tu trouveras: il ne t'est pas permis d'esquiver.
In like manner shalt thou do with his ass; and so shalt thou do with his raiment; and with all lost things of thy brother's, which he hath lost, and thou hast found, shalt thou do likewise: thou mayest not hide thyself.
4 Quand tu verras l'âne de ton frère, ou son bœuf, tombés sur la route, ne les esquive pas: joins-toi à lui pour les relever.
Thou shalt not see thy brother's ass or his ox fall down by the way, and hide thyself from them: thou shalt surely help him to lift [them] up again.
5 Une femme ne prendra point le costume d'un homme, ni un homme des vêtements de femme; car quiconque le fait, est l'abomination de l'Éternel, ton Dieu.
A woman shall not wear that which pertaineth to a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so [are] abomination to the LORD thy God.
6 Si en chemin tu rencontres devant toi un nid d'oiseau, sur quelque arbre ou sur le sol, avec des petits ou des œufs et la mère posée sur les petits ou sur les œufs, tu ne prendras pas la mère avec la couvée.
If a bird's nest shall chance to be before thee in the way on any tree, or on the ground, [whether with] young ones, or eggs, and the dam sitting upon the young, or upon the eggs, thou shalt not take the dam with the young:
7 Lâche la mère et prends la couvée pour toi, afin que tu sois heureux et aies de longs jours.
[But] thou shalt in any wise let the dam go, and take the young to thee; that it may be well with thee, and [that] thou mayest prolong [thy] days.
8 Lorsque tu bâtiras une maison neuve, munis ton toit d'un parapet, afin de ne pas entacher de sang ta maison, si quelqu'un en tombait.
When thou buildest a new house, then thou shalt make a battlement for thy roof, that thou mayest not bring blood upon thy house, if any man shall fall from thence.
9 Ne sème point dans ta vigne des semences de deux espèces, de peur que l'abondance donnée par la semence que tu sèmeras, et le produit de ta vigne, n'aille au sanctuaire.
Thou shalt not sow thy vineyard with divers seeds: lest the fruit of thy seed which thou hast sown, and the fruit of thy vineyard, should be defiled.
10 Tu ne laboureras pas avec un bœuf et un âne réunis.
Thou shalt not plow with an ox and an ass together.
11 Tu ne t'habilleras pas d'un tissu mélangé, ourdi de laine et de lin réunis.
Thou shalt not wear a garment of divers sorts, [as] of woolen and linen together.
12 Tu te feras des houppes aux quatre angles du manteau dont tu t'enveloppes.
Thou shalt make thee fringes upon the four quarters of thy vesture, with which thou coverest [thyself].
13 Si un homme épouse une femme, habite avec elle, puis la prend en haine,
If any man shall take a wife, and go in to her, and hate her,
14 et lui attribue des choses criminelles, et répand de mauvais bruits sur son compte, et dit: J'ai épousé cette femme et me suis approché d'elle, mais je ne l'ai pas eue vierge;
And give occasions of speech against her, and bring an evil name upon her, and say, I took this woman, and when I came to her, I found her not a maid:
15 dans ce cas le père de la fille et sa mère prendront les preuves de la virginité de la fille et les exhiberont aux Anciens de la ville, à la Porte.
Then shall the father of the damsel, and her mother, take and bring forth [the tokens of] the damsel's virginity to the elders of the city in the gate:
16 Et le père de la fille dira aux Anciens: J'avais donné ma fille en mariage à l'homme ici présent, et il l'a prise en haine,
And the damsel's father shall say to the elders, I gave my daughter to this man for a wife, and he hateth her,
17 et voilà qu'il lui impute des choses criminelles en disant: Je n'ai pas eu ta fille vierge. Mais voici les preuves de la virginité de ma fille. Puis ils étaleront le drap devant les Anciens de la ville.
And lo, he hath given occasions of speech [against her], saying, I found not thy daughter a maid; and yet these [are the tokens of] my daughter's virginity. And they shall spread the cloth before the elders of the city.
18 Alors les Anciens de cette ville appréhenderont le mari et le châtieront
And the elders of that city shall take that man and chastise him;
19 et lui infligeront une amende de cent sicles d'argent, qu'ils donneront au père de la fille, parce qu'il a répandu de mauvais bruits sur une vierge d'Israël. Et elle restera sa femme, et de toute sa vie il ne pourra la répudier.
And they shall amerce him in a hundred [shekels] of silver, and give [them] to the father of the damsel, because he hath brought an evil name upon a virgin of Israel: and she shall be his wife; he may not put her away all his days.
20 Mais si ce fait est avéré, si la fille n'a pas été trouvée vierge,
But if this thing shall be true, [and the tokens of] virginity be not found for the damsel:
21 que l'on amène la fille à la porte de la maison de son père, et que les hommes de sa ville la lapident et qu'elle meure pour avoir commis une infamie dans Israël, en s'abandonnant dans la maison de son père. Ote ainsi le mal du milieu de toi.
Then they shall bring out the damsel to the door of her father's house, and the men of her city shall stone her with stones that she may die: because she hath wrought folly in Israel, to be guilty of lewdness in her father's house: so shalt thou remove evil from among you.
22 Si un homme est surpris couchant avec une femme mariée, ils mourront l'un et l'autre, l'homme qui a couché avec la femme, et la femme. Ote ainsi le mal du sein d'Israël.
If a man shall be found lying with a woman married to a husband, then they shall both of them die, [both] the man that lay with the woman, and the woman: so shalt thou remove evil from Israel.
23 Si une fille vierge est fiancée à un homme, et qu'un individu la trouve dans la ville et habite avec elle,
If a damsel [that is] a virgin shall be betrothed to a husband, and a man shall find her in the city, and lie with her;
24 amenez-les l'un et l'autre à la Porte de cette ville et lapidez-les, et qu'ils meurent, la fille pour n'avoir jeté aucun cri dans la ville, et l'homme pour avoir déshonoré la femme de son prochain. Ote ainsi le mal du milieu de toi.
Then ye shall bring them both out to the gate of that city, and ye shall stone them with stones that they may die; the damsel, because she cried not, [being] in the city; and the man, because he hath humbled his neighbor's wife: so thou shalt remove evil from among you.
25 Mais si c'est dans les champs que l'individu a rencontré la fille fiancée, et s'est saisi d'elle, et a habité avec elle, la peine de mort ne sera infligée qu'à l'homme qui a habité avec elle, à l'homme seulement.
But if a man shall find a betrothed damsel in the field, and the man shall force her, and lie with her; then the man only that lay with her shall die:
26 Et tu ne feras rien à la fille; il n'y a à la charge de la fille aucun péché qui mérite la mort: c'est le même cas que celui de l'homme qui attaque son prochain et le tue.
But to the damsel thou shalt do nothing; [there is] in the damsel no sin [worthy] of death: for as when a man riseth against his neighbor, and slayeth him, even so [is] this matter:
27 Car c'est dans les champs qu'il l'a rencontrée; la fille fiancée a jeté son cri, et personne n'est venu à son secours.
For he found her in the field, [and] the betrothed damsel cried, and [there was] none to save her.
28 Si un homme rencontre une vierge non fiancée, et se saisit d'elle, et habite avec elle, et si on les prend sur le fait;
If a man shall find a damsel [that is] a virgin, who is not betrothed, and lay hold on her, and lie with her, and they be found;
29 dans ce cas l'individu qui a habité avec la fille paiera au père de celle-ci cinquante sicles d'argent, et elle deviendra sa femme, parce qu'il lui a ôté sa virginité, et de toute sa vie il ne pourra la répudier.
Then the man that lay with her shall give to the damsel's father fifty [shekels] of silver, and she shall be his wife; because he hath humbled her, he may not put her away all his days.
30 Nul n'épousera la femme de son père, et ne soulèvera la couverture de son père.
A man shall not take his father's wife, nor discover his father's skirt.
