Deutéronome 10

1 Dans ce même temps l'Éternel me dit: Taille-toi deux Tables de pierre, comme les premières, et monte vers moi sur la montagne et fais-toi une Arche de bois,

At that time the LORD said to me, "Cut two tablets of stone like the first, and come up to me onto the mountain, and make an ark of wood.

2 et j'écrirai sur les Tables les Paroles qui se trouvaient sur les premières Tables que tu as brisées, et tu les placeras dans l'Arche.

I will write on the tables the words that were on the first tables which you broke, and you shall put them in the ark."

3 Je fis donc une Arche de bois d'acacia et taillai deux Tables de pierre pareilles aux premières, et je montai à la montagne ayant les deux Tables dans ma main.

So I made an ark of acacia wood, and cut two tablets of stone like the first, and went up onto the mountain, having the two tablets in my hand.

4 Alors Il écrivit sur les Tables les mêmes choses qui avaient été écrites sur les premières, les Dix Paroles que l'Éternel vous avait adressées sur la montagne du milieu du feu le jour de l'Assemblée; et l'Éternel me les donna.

He wrote on the tables, according to the first writing, the ten commandments, which the LORD spoke to you on the mountain out of the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly: and the LORD gave them to me.

5 Et me retournant je descendis de la montagne et je mis les Tables dans l'Arche que j'avais faite, et elles y furent, comme l'Éternel me l'avait commandé.

I turned and came down from the mountain, and put the tables in the ark which I had made; and there they are as the LORD commanded me.

6 Et les enfants d'Israël partirent de Beeroth Benei-Jaakan pour Moser. Là mourut Aaron, et il y reçut la sépulture, et Eléazar, son fils, lui succéda dans le sacerdoce.

(The children of Israel traveled from Beeroth Bene Jaakan to Moserah. There Aaron died, and there he was buried; and Eleazar his son ministered in the priest's office in his place.

7 De là ils se portèrent à Gudgoda, et de Gudgoda à Jotbath, pays de cours d'eaux.

From there they traveled to Gudgodah; and from Gudgodah to Jotbathah, a land of brooks of water.

8 C'est dans ce temps-là que l'Éternel mit à part la Tribu de Lévi, pour porter l'Arche de l'Alliance de l'Éternel, et se tenir devant l'Éternel pour le servir, et pour bénir en son nom, jusqu'aujourd'hui.

At that time the LORD set apart the tribe of Levi, to bear the ark of the covenant of the LORD, to stand before the LORD to minister to him, and to bless in his name, to this day.

9 C'est pourquoi Lévi n'eut point de portion ni de lot avec ses frères: l'Éternel est son lot, ainsi que l'Éternel, ton Dieu, le lui a dit.

Therefore Levi has no portion nor inheritance with his brothers; the LORD is his inheritance, according as the LORD your God spoke to him.)

10 Or moi je restai sur la montagne, comme dans le séjour précédent, quarante jours et quarante nuits; et l'Éternel m'exauça aussi cette fois: l'Éternel ne voulut plus vous perdre.

I stayed on the mountain, as at the first time, forty days and forty nights: and the LORD listened to me that time also, and the LORD would not destroy you.

11 Et l'Éternel me dit: Lève-toi, et dans le décampement marche à la tête du peuple, afin qu'ils arrivent et fassent la conquête du pays que j'ai juré à leurs pères de leur donner.

The LORD said to me, "Arise, take your journey before the people; and they shall go in and possess the land, which I swore to their fathers to give to them."

12 Et maintenant, Israël, qu'est-ce que l'Éternel, ton Dieu, exige de toi, sinon de craindre l'Éternel, ton Dieu, de marcher dans toutes ses voies, et de l'aimer, et de servir l'Éternel, ton Dieu, de tout ton cœur et de toute ton âme,

Now, Israel, what does the LORD your God require of you, but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul,

13 de garder les commandements de l'Éternel et ses statuts que je te prescris aujourd'hui pour ton bien.

to keep the commandments of the LORD, and his statutes, which I command you this day for your good?

14 Voici, à l'Éternel, ton Dieu, appartiennent les Cieux et les Cieux des Cieux, la terre et tout ce qu'elle renferme;

Look, to the LORD your God belongs heaven and the heaven of heavens, the earth, with all that is in it.

15 cependant c'est à tes pères seuls que l'Éternel s'est attaché pour les aimer, et Il a choisi leur race qui viendrait après eux, vous, entre tous les peuples, comme [il arrive] aujourd'hui.

Only the LORD had a delight in your fathers to love them, and he chose their descendants after them, even you above all peoples, as at this day.

16 En conséquence circoncisez le prépuce de vos cœurs et n'ayez plus le col roide.

Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no more stiff-necked.

17 Car l'Éternel, votre Dieu, est le Dieu des Dieux, et le Seigneur des Seigneurs, le Dieu grand, puissant et redoutable qui ne fait point acception des personnes, et n'accepte point de présents,

For the LORD your God, he is God of gods, and Lord of lords, the great God, the mighty, and the awesome, who doesn't respect persons, nor takes reward.

18 qui fait droit à l'orphelin et à la veuve et aime l'étranger et lui donne nourriture et vêtement.

He does execute justice for the fatherless and widow, and loves the foreigner, in giving him food and clothing.

19 Aimez donc les étrangers, car vous fûtes étrangers dans le pays d'Egypte.

Therefore love the foreigner; for you were foreigners in the land of Egypt.

20 Crains l'Éternel, ton Dieu, sers-le, reste lui attaché et jure par son nom.

You shall fear the LORD your God; you shall serve him; and you shall cling to him, and you shall swear by his name.

21 Il est ta gloire, et Il est ton Dieu qui a opéré pour toi ces choses grandes et terribles que tes yeux ont vues.

He is your praise, and he is your God, who has done for you these great and awesome things, which your eyes have seen.

22 C'est avec soixante-dix âmes que tes pères descendirent en Egypte, et maintenant l'Éternel, ton Dieu, t'a rendu égal en nombre aux étoiles des Cieux.

Your fathers went down into Egypt with seventy persons; and now the LORD your God has made you as the stars of the sky for multitude.
