1 Et la neuvième année de son règne, au dixième mois, le dixième jour du mois, survint Nebucadnetsar, roi de Babel, lui et toute son armée, devant Jérusalem; et ils en firent le siège, et ils élevèrent à l'entour une circonvallation.
And it came to pass, in the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, on the tenth day of the month, that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came—he and all his force, against Jerusalem, and encamped against it, —and they built against it a siege wall, round about.
2 Et la ville soutint le siège jusqu'à la onzième année du roi Sédécias.
And the city came into the siege, —until the eleventh year of King Zedekiah.
3 Le neuvième jour du [quatrième] mois la famine était extrême dans la ville et il n'y avait point de pain pour le peuple du pays.
On the ninth of the month, when the famine had become severe in the city, —and there had come to be no bread for the people of the land,
4 Et la brèche était faite à la ville, et tous les gens de guerre [s'enfuirent] la nuit par la porte entre les deux murs à côté du jardin du roi, tandis que les Chaldéens cernaient la ville; et l'on prit le chemin de la Plaine.
then was the city broken up, and all the men of war [fled] by night by way of the gate between the two walls, which is by the garden of the king, the Chaldeans being near the city round about, —and he went the way of the Waste Plain;
5 Mais l'armée des Chaldéens poursuivit le roi et l'atteignit dans les plaines de Jéricho, et toute son armée le quittant se débanda.
and the force of the Chaldeans, pursued, the king, and overtook him in the Waste Plains of Jericho, —and, all his force, was scattered from him.
6 Et le roi fut pris et conduit vers le roi de Babel à Ribla; et on lui fit son procès.
So they seized the king, and brought him up unto the king of Babylon, at Riblah, —and they pronounced upon him sentence of judgment.
7 Et ils égorgèrent les fils de Sédécias sous ses yeux, et on creva les yeux à Sédécias, et on le lia de chaînes et le mena à Babel.
And, the sons of Zedekiah, they slew before his eyes, —and, the eyes of Zedekiah, put they out, and then bound him with fetters of bronze, and brought him into Babylon.
8 Et le cinquième mois, le septième jour du mois, c'était la dix-neuvième année du règne de Nebucadnetsar, roi de Babel, arriva Nebuzaradan, chef des satellites, serviteur du roi de Babel, à Jérusalem,
And, in the fifth month, on the seventh of the month, the same, was the nineteenth year of King Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, came Nebuzaradan, chief of the royal executioners, servant of the king of Babylon, to Jerusalem;
9 et il incendia le temple de l'Éternel et le palais royal et toutes les maisons de Jérusalem, il livra aux flammes tous les grands édifices.
and burned the house of Yahweh, and the house of the king, —yea, all the houses of Jerusalem, even every great man’s house, burned he with fire.
10 Et toute l'armée des Chaldéens, qui accompagnait le chef des satellites, démolit les murs de Jérusalem dans leur pourtour.
And, the walls of Jerusalem round about, did all the force of the Chaldeans who were with the chief of the royal executioners, break down.
11 Quant au résidu du peuple, à ceux qui étaient restés dans la ville, et aux transfuges qui étaient passés au roi de Babel, et au reste de la foule, Nebuzaradan, chef des satellites, les emmena captifs.
And, the residue of the people who were left in the city, and the disheartened who fell away unto the king of Babylon, and the residue of the multitude, did Nebuzaradan, chief of the royal executioners, carry away captive.
12 Cependant le chef des satellites laissa dans le pays du petit peuple comme laboureurs et vignerons.
But, of the poorest of the land, did the chief of the royal executioners, leave, for vine-dressers and for husbandmen.
13 Et les Chaldéens brisèrent les colonnes d'airain qui étaient dans le temple de l'Éternel, et les porte-aiguière et la Mer d'airain qui étaient dans le temple de l'Éternel et en emportèrent l'airain à Babel.
And, the pillars of bronze that were in the house of Yahweh, and the stands, and the sea of bronze which was in the house of Yahweh, the Chaldeans brake in pieces, and they carried away the bronze of them to Babylon;
14 Et ils enlevèrent les chaudières et les pelles et les couteaux et les coupes et toute la vaisselle d'airain employée pour le service;
and, the caldrons, and the shovels, and the snuffers, and the spoons, even all the utensils of bronze wherewith ministration used to be made, did they take away;
15 et le chef des satellites enleva les réchauds et les jattes, et ce qui était d'or, l'orfèvrerie, et ce qui était d'argent, l'argenterie.
and, the sprinkling pans and the dashing bowls which were of gold, in gold, and which were of silver, in silver, did, the chief of the royal executions, take away.
16 Les deux colonnes, la mer unique, les porte-aiguière qu'avait faits Salomon pour le temple de l'Éternel: le poids de l'airain de tout ce mobilier était incalculable.
As for the two pillars the one sea and the stands which Solomon made for the house of Yahweh, without weight, was the bronze of all these things.
17 Chaque colonne avait dix-huit coudées de hauteur, portant un chapiteau d'airain et dont la hauteur était de trois coudées, et le chapiteau était enveloppé d'un treillis et de grenades, le tout d'airain; et il en était de même pour l'autre colonne avec le treillis.
Eighteen cubits, was the height of each pillar, and, the capital thereupon was of bronze, and, the height of the capital, was three cubits, and, the lattice-work and pomegranates upon the capital round about, the whole, was of bronze; and, like these, had the second pillar, upon the lattice-work.
18 Et le chef des satellites prit Seraïa, Grand-Prêtre, et Sophonie, Prêtre en second, et les trois portiers,
And the chief of the royal executioners took Seraiah the head priest, and Zephaniah the second priest, —and the three keepers of the entrance hall;
19 et de la cité il prit un eunuque, qui était préposé sur les hommes de guerre et cinq hommes d'entre les conseillers intimes du roi, qui furent trouvés dans la ville, et le Secrétaire, Général de l'armée, qui levait la troupe pour le pays, et soixante hommes de la milice du pays, qui furent trouvés dans la ville,
and, out of the city, took he one courtier who himself was set over the men of war, and five men of them who were wont to see the face of the king, who were found in the city, and the scribe—general of the army, who used to muster the people of the land, —and sixty men of the people of the land, who were found in the city;
20 tels sont ceux que prit Nebuzaradan, chef des satellites, et il les mena vers le roi de Babel à Ribla.
and Nebuzaradan, chief of the royal executioners, took them, —and brought them unto the king of Babylon, at Riblah;
21 Et le roi de Babel les exécuta et les fit mourir à Ribla, canton de Hamath. C'est ainsi que Juda fut déporté loin de son pays.
and the king of Babylon smote them and slew them in Riblah, in the land of Hamath, —and thus Judah disappeared from off their own soil.
22 Quant au peuple resté dans le pays de Juda, que Nebucadnetsar, roi de Babel, avait laissé, il préposa sur lui Gedalia, fils d'Achikam, fils de Schaphan.
But, as for the people who were left in the land of Judah, whom Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon left remaining, he set over them Gedaliah, son of Ahikam son of Shaphan.
23 Et lorsque tous les chefs des troupes, eux et leur monde, apprirent que le roi de Babel avait préposé Gedalia, ils vinrent auprès de Gedalia à Mitspa, savoir Ismaël, fils de Nethania, et Jochanan, fils de Caréah, et Seraïa, fils de Tanchumeth, de Netopha, et Jaazania, fils du Maachatite, eux et leurs gens.
And, when all the generals of the forces, they and the men, heard that the king of Babylon had given oversight unto Gedaliah, then came they in unto Gedaliah, at Mizpah, —even Ishmael son of Nethaniah, and Johanan son of Kareah, and Seraiah son of Tanhumeth the Netophathite, and Jaazaniah son of a Maacathite, they and their men.
24 Et Gedalia s'engagea par serment envers eux et leur monde, et leur dit: Ne craignez point les serviteurs des Chaldéens, restez dans le pays, et soyez soumis au roi de Babel, et vous serez bien.
And Gedaliah sware unto them, and to their men, and said to them, Do not fear because of the servants of the Chaldeans, —dwell in the land, and serve the king of Babylon, and it shall be well with you.
25 Mais au septième mois parut Ismaël, fils de Nethania, fils d'Elisama, de la race royale, accompagné de dix hommes, et ils firent main basse sur Gedalia, qui mourut, ainsi que sur les Juifs et les Chaldéens qui étaient avec lui à Mitspa.
And it came to pass, in the seventh month, that Ishmael son of Nethaniah a son of Elishama, of the seed royal, came, and ten men with him, and smote Gedaliah, that he died, —and the Jews and the Chaldeans who were with him at Mizpah.
26 Alors il y eut levée de tout le peuple, petits et grands, et des généraux d'armée, et ils gagnèrent l'Egypte, parce qu'ils avaient peur des Chaldéens.
Then arose all the people, both small and great, and the generals of the forces, and came into Egypt, —for they were afraid of the Chaldeans.
27 Et trente-sept ans après la déportation de Jojachin, roi de Juda, au douzième mois, le vingt-septième jour du mois, Evil-Mérodach, roi de Babel, l'année de son avènement, fit relever la tête à Jojachin, roi de Juda, en le tirant de la prison;
And it came to pass, in the thirty-seventh year of the captivity of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the twelfth month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, —that Evil-merodach king of Babylon, in the year that he began to reign, did lift up the head of Jehoiachin king of Judah, out of prison;
28 et il lui parla avec bonté, plaça son trône au-dessus du trône des rois qui étaient avec lui à Babel,
and he spake with him kind words, —and set his throne above the throne of the kings who were with him in Babylon;
29 et il lui fit quitter ses habits de prison; et il mangea constamment devant lui toute sa vie durant,
and changed his prison garments, —and he did eat bread continually before him, all the days of his life.
30 et son approvisionnement, son approvisionnement perpétuel lui fut fourni par le roi, au jour le jour, toute sa vie durant.
And, as his allowance, a continual portion, was given him, from the king, the provision of a day upon its own day, —all the days of his life.
