2 Rois 21

1 Manassé avait douze ans à son avènement, et il régna cinquante-cinq ans à Jérusalem. Or le nom de sa mère était Hephtsiba.

Manasseh was twelve years old when he began to reign; and he reigned fifty-five years in Jerusalem; and his mother's name was Hephzibah.

2 Et il fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de l'Éternel, imitant les pratiques abominables des nations que l'Éternel avait chassées devant les enfants d'Israël.

And he did evil in the sight of Jehovah, like the abominations of the nations that Jehovah had dispossessed from before the children of Israel.

3 Et il releva les tertres qu'avait rasés Ezéchias, son père, et dressa des autels à Baal et fit une Astarté comme avait fait Achab, roi d'Israël, et il adora toute l'armée des cieux, qu'il servit.

And he built again the high places that Hezekiah his father had destroyed; and he reared up altars to Baal and made an Asherah, as did Ahab king of Israel; and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served them.

4 Et il érigea des autels dans le temple de l'Éternel, dont l'Éternel avait dit: C'est dans Jérusalem que je fixerai mon Nom.

And he built altars in the house of Jehovah, of which Jehovah had said, In Jerusalem will I put my name.

5 Et il bâtit des autels à toute l'armée des cieux dans les deux parvis du temple de l'Éternel.

And he built altars to all the host of heaven in both courts of the house of Jehovah.

6 Et il fit passer son fils par le feu, et s'adonna à la divination et aux augures et institua des évocateurs et des devins et il multiplia le mal aux yeux de l'Éternel à l'effet de Le provoquer.

And he caused his son to pass through the fire, and used magic and divination, and appointed necromancers and soothsayers: he wrought evil beyond measure in the sight of Jehovah, to provoke him to anger.

7 Et il plaça le simulacre d'Astarté, qu'il avait fait, dans le temple duquel l'Éternel avait dit à David et à Salomon, son fils: Dans ce temple et à Jérusalem que j'ai choisie dans toutes les Tribus d'Israël, je fixerai mon Nom pour l'éternité.

And he set the graven image of the Asherah that he had made, in the house of which Jehovah had said to David and to Solomon his son, In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, will I put my name for ever;

8 Et je ne veux plus qu'Israël porte ses pas errants loin du sol que j'ai donné à ses pères, pourvu seulement qu'il prenne garde de se conformer à tout ce que je lui ai prescrit, et à la totalité de la Loi que lui a prescrite mon serviteur Moïse.

neither will I any more cause the foot of Israel to wander away from the land that I gave their fathers; if they will only take heed to do according to all that I have commanded them, and according to all the law that my servant Moses commanded them.

9 Mais ils n'écoutèrent point, et Manassé les entraîna à faire pis que les nations que l'Éternel avait détruites devant les enfants d'Israël.

But they would not hearken, and Manasseh led them astray to do more evil than the nations that Jehovah had destroyed from before the children of Israel.

10 Et l'Éternel parla par l'organe de ses serviteurs, les prophètes, et dit:

And Jehovah spoke by his servants the prophets saying,

11 Parce que Manassé, roi de Juda, a pratiqué ces abominations faisant pis que tout ce qu'avaient, fait les Amoréens, antérieurs à lui, et qu'il a aussi entraîné Juda au péché par son idolâtrie,

Because Manasseh king of Judah hath done these abominations, and hath done wickedly above all that the Amorites did, who were before him, and hath made Judah also to sin with his idols;

12 dès là, ainsi prononce l'Éternel, Dieu d'Israël: Voici, j'amène une calamité sur Jérusalem et Juda telle que à quiconque en ouïra parler les deux oreilles lui résonneront,

therefore thus saith Jehovah the God of Israel: Behold, I will bring evil upon Jerusalem and Judah, that whosoever heareth of it, both his ears shall tingle.

13 et j'étendrai sur Jérusalem le cordeau de Samarie et le niveau de la maison d'Achab et je frotterai Jérusalem comme on frotte un plat: après l'avoir frotté on le retourne sens dessus dessous.

And I will stretch over Jerusalem the line of Samaria, and the plummet of the house of Ahab, and I will wipe Jerusalem as one wipeth a pan, wiping it and turning it upside down.

14 Et je ferai abandon du reste de mon héritage que je livrerai à la merci de leurs ennemis, afin qu'ils soient une proie, une dépouille pour tous leurs ennemis,

And I will forsake the remnant of mine inheritance, and deliver them into the hand of their enemies; and they shall become a prey and a spoil to all their enemies;

15 parce qu'ils ont fait ce qui est mal à mes yeux et qu'ils m'ont provoqué dès le jour où leurs pères sont sortis de l'Egypte, jusqu'aujourd'hui.

because they have done evil in my sight, and have provoked me to anger, since the day their fathers came forth out of Egypt even to this day.

16 Et Manassé répandit aussi le sang innocent à grands flots jusqu'à en remplir Jérusalem d'un bout à l'autre bout, non compris son péché où il entraîna Juda pour faire ce qui est mal aux yeux de l'Éternel.

And Manasseh shed very much innocent blood, till he had filled Jerusalem [with it] from one end to another; beside his sin with which he made Judah to sin, in doing evil in the sight of Jehovah.

17 Le reste des actes de Manassé, et toutes ses entreprises et son péché qu'il commit, sont d'ailleurs consignés dans le livre des annales des rois de Juda.

And the rest of the acts of Manasseh, and all that he did, and his sin which he sinned, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

18 Et Manassé reposa avec ses pères et reçut la sépulture dans le jardin de son palais, dans le jardin d'Uzza, et Amon, son fils, devint roi en sa place.

And Manasseh slept with his fathers, and was buried in the garden of his own house, in the garden of Uzza; and Amon his son reigned in his stead.

19 Amon avait vingt-deux ans à son avènement, et il régna deux ans à Jérusalem. Or le nom de sa mère était Mesullémeth, fille de Harouts de Jotbah.

Amon was twenty-two years old when he began to reign; and he reigned two years in Jerusalem; and his mother's name was Meshullemeth, daughter of Haruz of Jotbah.

20 Et il fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de l'Éternel, comme avait fait Manassé, son père.

And he did evil in the sight of Jehovah, as Manasseh his father had done;

21 Et il marcha sur tous les errements qu'avait suivis son père, et servit les idoles qu'avait servies son père, et il les adora,

and he walked in all the way that his father had walked in, and served the idols that his father had served, and worshipped them;

22 et il déserta l'Éternel, le Dieu de ses pères, et ne pratiqua point la voie de l'Éternel.

and he forsook Jehovah the God of his fathers, and walked not in the way of Jehovah.

23 Et les serviteurs d'Amon conspirèrent contre lui et donnèrent la mort au roi dans son palais.

And the servants of Amon conspired against him, and slew the king in his own house.

24 Mais le peuple du pays fit périr tous ceux qui avaient conspiré contre le roi Amon et le peuple du pays établit son fils Josias roi en sa place.

But the people of the land smote all them that had conspired against king Amon; and the people of the land made Josiah his son king in his stead.

25 Le reste des actes d'Amon, ses entreprises, est d'ailleurs consigné dans le livre des annales des rois de Juda.

And the rest of the acts of Amon, what he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

26 Et on lui donna la sépulture dans son tombeau, dans le jardin d'Uzza, et Josias, son fils, devint roi en sa place.

And he was buried in his sepulchre in the garden of Uzza; and Josiah his son reigned in his stead.
