2 Chroniques 29

1 Et Ezéchias fut roi à l'âge de vingt-cinq ans et il régna vingt-neuf ans à Jérusalem. Or le nom de sa mère était Abia, fille de Zacharie.

Hezekiah [was] a son of twenty-five years [when] he has reigned, and he has reigned twenty-nine years in Jerusalem, and the name of his mother [is] Abijah daughter of Zechariah;

2 Et il fit ce qui est bien aux yeux de l'Éternel, en tout à l'exemple de David, son père.

and he does that which is right in the eyes of YHWH, according to all that his father David did.

3 Quant à lui, dès la première année de son règne, au premier mois, il rouvrit les portes du Temple de l'Éternel et les restaura.

He, in the first year of his reign, in the first month, has opened the doors of the house of YHWH, and strengthens them,

4 Et il convoqua les Prêtres et les Lévites et les assembla dans la place orientale,

and brings in the priests and the Levites, and gathers them to the broad place to the east.

5 et il leur dit: Écoutez-moi, Lévites! Maintenant mettez-vous en état de sainteté, et mettez en état de sainteté le Temple de l'Éternel, Dieu de vos pères, et ôtez du Sanctuaire la souillure.

And he says to them, “Hear me, O Levites, now sanctify yourselves, and sanctify the house of YHWH, God of your fathers, and bring out the impurity from the holy place,

6 Car nos pères ont été infidèles et ont fait ce qui est mal aux yeux de l'Éternel, notre Dieu, et ils l'ont abandonné et ont détourné leurs regards de la résidence de l'Éternel et lui ont tourné le dos;

for our fathers have trespassed, and done that which is evil in the eyes of our God YHWH, and forsake him, and turn around their faces from the Dwelling Place of YHWH, and give the neck.

7 ils ont aussi fermé les portes du vestibule et éteint les lampes, et n'ont pas brûlé d'encens, ni offert d'holocaustes dans le Sanctuaire au Dieu d'Israël.

They have also shut the doors of the porch, and quench the lamps, and they have not made incense, and have not caused burnt-offering to ascend in the holy place to the God of Israel,

8 Aussi la colère de l'Éternel a-t-elle éclaté sur Juda et Jérusalem, dont Il a fait un objet de vexations, d'horreur et de moquerie, comme vous le voyez de vos yeux.

and the wrath of YHWH is on Judah and Jerusalem, and He gives them for a trembling, for an astonishment, and for a hissing, as you are seeing with your eyes.

9 Et voici pour cela, nos pères sont tombés sous le glaive, et nos fils et nos filles et nos femmes sont dans la captivité.

And behold, our fathers have fallen by the sword, and our sons, and our daughters, and our wives [are] in captivity for this.

10 Maintenant j'ai à cœur de solenniser une alliance avec l'Éternel, Dieu d'Israël, à l'effet de détourner de nous le feu de sa colère.

Now [it is] with my heart to make a covenant before YHWH, God of Israel, and the fierceness of His anger turns back from us.

11 Mes fils, à cette heure point de nonchalance! car c'est vous que l'Éternel a élus pour vous tenir devant lui, le servir et être ses ministres et lui brûler l'encens.

My sons, do not be at rest now, for YHWH has fixed on you to stand before Him, to serve Him, and to be ministering and making incense to Him.”

12 Alors se levèrent les Lévites Mahath, fils d'Amasaï, et Joël, fils d'Azaria, d'entre les fils des Cahathites; et d'entre les fils de Merari, Kis, fils d'Abdi, et Azaria, fils de Jehaléleël; et d'entre les Gersonites, Joah, fils de Zimma, et Eden, fils de Joah;

And the Levites rise—Mahath son of Amasai, and Joel son of Azariah, of the sons of the Kohathite; and of the sons of Merari: Kish son of Abdi, and Azariah son of Jehalelel; and of the Gershonite: Joah son of Zimmah, and Eden son of Joah;

13 et d'entre les fils d'Elitsaphan, Simri et Jehiel; et d'entre les fils d'Asaph, Zacharie et Mathania;

and of the sons of Elizaphan: Shimri and Jeiel; and of the sons of Asaph: Zechariah and Mattaniah;

14 et d'entre les fils de Heiman, Jehiel et Siméï, et d'entre les fils de Jeduthun, Semaïa et Uzziel.

and of the sons of Heman: Jehiel and Shimei; and of the sons of Jeduthun: Shemaiah and Uzziel—

15 Et ils réunirent leurs frères et se mirent en état de sainteté, et ils vinrent selon l'ordre du roi conforme aux paroles de l'Éternel pour la purification de la Maison de l'Éternel.

and they gather their brothers, and sanctify themselves, and come in, according to the command of the king in the matters of YHWH, to cleanse the house of YHWH,

16 Et les Prêtres entrèrent dans l'intérieur de la Maison de l'Éternel, et toutes les souillures qu'ils trouvèrent dans le Temple de l'Éternel, ils les tirèrent dans le parvis de la Maison de l'Éternel; et les Lévites les enlevèrent pour les mener dehors au torrent du Cédron.

and the priests come into the inner part of the house of YHWH to cleanse [it], and bring out all the uncleanness that they have found in the temple of YHWH to the court of the house of YHWH, and the Levites receive [it], to take [it] out to the Brook of Kidron outside.

17 Et ils commencèrent la sanctification le premier jour du premier mois, et le huitième jour du mois ils arrivèrent au vestibule de l'Éternel; et employèrent huit jours à la purification du Temple de l'Éternel; et le seizième jour du premier mois ils avaient terminé.

And they begin to sanctify on the first of the first month, and on the eighth day of the month they have come to the porch of YHWH, and they sanctify the house of YHWH in eight days, and on the sixteenth day of the first month they have finished.

18 Alors ils entrèrent dans l'intérieur chez le roi Ézéchias et dirent: Nous avons purifié tout le Temple de l'Éternel, et l'autel des holocaustes et tous ses ustensiles, et la table des pains de présentation et tous ses ustensiles,

And they come in to Hezekiah the king within, and say, “We have cleansed all the house of YHWH, and the altar of the burnt-offering, and all its vessels, and the table of the arrangement, and all its vessels,

19 et toute la vaisselle profanée par le roi Achaz pendant son règne dans sa rébellion, nous l'avons mise en état et sanctifiée: et la voilà devant l'autel de l'Éternel.

and all the vessels that King Ahaz cast away in his reign—in his trespass—we have prepared and sanctified, and behold, they [are] before the altar of YHWH.”

20 Alors le roi Ézéchias dès le matin assembla les chefs de la ville et monta au Temple de l'Éternel.

And Hezekiah the king rises early, and gathers the heads of the city, and goes up to the house of YHWH;

21 Et ils offrirent sept taureaux et sept béliers et sept agneaux et sept boucs en expiation pour le royaume et pour le Sanctuaire et pour Juda. Et il ordonna aux Prêtres, fils d'Aaron, de sacrifier sur l'autel de l'Éternel.

and they bring in seven bullocks, and seven rams, and seven lambs, and seven young male goats, for a sin-offering for the kingdom, and for the sanctuary, and for Judah; and he commands to sons of Aaron, the priests, to cause [them] to ascend on the altar of YHWH.

22 Alors les Prêtres égorgèrent les taureaux dont ils reçurent le sang, et ils en aspergèrent l'autel, et ils égorgèrent les béliers et avec leur sang aspergèrent l'autel, et ils égorgèrent les agneaux et avec leur sang aspergèrent l'autel.

And they slaughter the oxen, and the priests receive the blood, and sprinkle on the altar; and they slaughter the rams, and sprinkle the blood on the altar; and they slaughter the lambs, and sprinkle the blood on the altar;

23 Et ils amenèrent les boucs expiatoires devant le roi et l'Assemblée, qui imposèrent leurs mains sur eux,

and they bring the male goats of the sin-offering near before the king and the assembly, and they lay their hands on them;

24 et les Prêtres les égorgèrent, et avec leur sang firent l'expiation sur l'autel, en propitiation pour tout Israël; car c'était pour tout Israël que le roi avait ordonné l'holocauste et l'expiation.

and the priests slaughter them, and make a sin-offering with their blood on the altar, to make atonement for all Israel, that “For all Israel,” said the king, “[is] the burnt-offering and the sin-offering.”

25 Et il fit tenir les Lévites dans le Temple de l'Éternel avec des cymbales et des harpes et des luths selon l'ordre de David et de Gad, Voyant du roi, et de Nathan, le prophète; car l'ordre avait été donné par l'Éternel, par ses prophètes.

And he appoints the Levites in the house of YHWH with cymbals, with psalteries, and with harps, by the command of David, and of Gad, seer of the king, and of Nathan the prophet, for the command [is] by the hand of YHWH, by the hand of His prophets;

26 Et les Lévites étaient là avec les instruments de David, et les Prêtres avec les trompettes.

and the Levites stand with the instruments of David, and the priests with the trumpets.

27 Et Ézéchias ordonna d'offrir des holocaustes sur l'autel, et quand commençait l'holocauste, commençait le chant de l'Éternel, et les trompettes et l'accompagnement, des instruments de David, roi d'Israël.

And Hezekiah commands to cause the burnt-offering to ascend on the altar; and at the time the burnt-offering began, the song of YHWH began, and the trumpets, and with [the] hands of [the] instruments of David king of Israel.

28 Et toute l'Assemblée se prosterna, et le chant retentit, et les trompettes sonnèrent, le tout jusqu'à la consommation de l'holocauste.

And all the assembly are worshiping, and the singers singing, and the trumpeters blowing; the whole [is] until the completion of the burnt-offering.

29 Et quand l'holocauste fut achevé, le roi et tous ceux qui se trouvaient avec lui, s'inclinèrent et adorèrent.

And at the completion of the offering up, the king and all those found with him have bowed, and pay respect.

30 Et le roi Ézéchias et les chefs dirent aux Lévites de louer l'Éternel avec les paroles de David et d'Asaph, le Voyant. Et ils louèrent avec allégresse et s'inclinèrent et adorèrent.

And Hezekiah the king commands—and the princes—to the Levites [to cause them] to give praise to YHWH in the words of David, and of Asaph the seer, and they praise—to joy, and they bow, and pay respect.

31 Et Ézéchias prit la parole et dit: Maintenant vous vous êtes consacrés à l'Éternel, approchez et amenez des victimes et des sacrifices d'actions de grâces au Temple de l'Éternel. Alors l'Assemblée amena des victimes et des sacrifices pacifiques, et tout homme généreux des holocaustes volontaires.

And Hezekiah answers and says, “Now you have filled your hand for YHWH, come near, and bring in sacrifices and thank-offerings to the house of YHWH”; and the assembly brings in sacrifices and thank-offerings, and every willing-hearted one—burnt-offerings.

32 Et voici le nombre des victimes offertes par l'Assemblée: soixante-dix taureaux, cent béliers, deux cents agneaux, tout autant d'holocaustes à l'Éternel,

And the number of the burnt-offerings that the assembly has brought in is seventy oxen, one hundred rams, [and] two hundred lambs; for all these [are] a burnt-offering to YHWH.

33 et six cents bœufs, et trois mille moutons furent consacrés.

And the sanctified things [are] six hundred oxen and three thousand sheep.

34 Seulement les Prêtres étaient trop peu nombreux, et ils ne pouvaient écorcher toutes les victimes; alors ils furent aidés par leurs frères les Lévites jusqu'à ce que l'opération fût terminée, et que les [autres] Prêtres se fussent mis en état de sainteté, car les Lévites avaient été plus scrupuleux que les Prêtres pour se mettre en état de sainteté.

Only, the priests have become few, and have not been able to strip the whole of the burnt-offerings, and their brothers the Levites strengthen them until the completion of the work, and until the priests sanctify themselves, for the Levites [are] more upright of heart to sanctify themselves than the priests.

35 Mais aussi il y avait là une multitude d'holocaustes en même temps que les graisses des victimes pacifiques et les libations des holocaustes. Et ainsi fut restauré le service du Temple de l'Éternel.

And also, burnt-offerings [are] in abundance, with fat of the peace-offerings, and with oblations for the burnt-offering; and the service of the house of YHWH is established,

36 Et Ézéchias et tout le peuple se réjouirent de ce que Dieu avait donné la disposition au peuple; car la chose s'était faite promptement.

and Hezekiah and all the people rejoice because of God’s giving preparation to the people, for the thing has been suddenly.
