2 Chroniques 22
1 Et les habitants de Jérusalem firent Achazia, son fils cadet, roi en sa place; car tous les aînés avaient été tués par la horde venue avec les Arabes au camp. Ainsi devint roi Achazia, fils de Joram, roi de Juda.
And the inhabitants of Jerusalem made Ahaziah his youngest son king, in his stead, for, all the elder sons, had the band of men slain who came in with the Arabians into the camp, —so Ahaziah son of Jehoram king of Judah reigned.
2 Achazia avait quarante-deux ans à son avènement, et il régna un an à Jérusalem. Or le nom de sa mère était Athalie, fille d'Omri.
Forty-two years old, was Ahaziah when he began to reign, and, one year, reigned he in Jerusalem, —and, the name of his mother, was Athaliah, daughter of Omri.
3 Lui aussi marcha sur les errements de la maison d'Achab, car sa mère était sa conseillère d'impiété.
He too, walked in the ways of the house of Ahab, —for, his mother, became his counselor, to work lawlessness.
4 Et il fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de l'Éternel, comme la maison d'Achab, car là furent ses conseillers après la mort de son père, pour sa perte.
Wherefore he did the thing that was wicked in the eyes of Yahweh, like the house of Ahab, —for, they, became his counselors, after the death of his father, to his destruction.
5 Ce fut aussi d'après leur conseil qu'il se conduisit, et qu'il marcha avec Joram, fils d'Achab, roi d'Israël, à l'attaque de Hazaël, roi de Syrie, à Ramoth en Galaad. Et les Syriens blessèrent Joram,
Even in their counsel, he walked, and went with Jehoram son of Ahab king of Israel, to war against Hazael king of Syria, in Ramoth-gilead, —and the Syrians smote Joram.
6 qui alors rebroussa pour se faire traiter à Jizréel des blessures qu'il avait reçues à Rama, lorsqu'il se battait contre Hazaël, roi de Syrie. Et Azaria, fils de Joram, roi de Juda, descendit pour visiter Joram, fils d'Achab, à Jizréel, parce qu'il était malade.
And he returned to be healed in Jezreel, because of the wounds wherewith they smote him in Ramah, when he fought with Hazael, king of Syria, —and, Azariah son of Jehoram king of Judah, went down to see Jehoram son of Ahab in Jezreel, because, sick, was he!
7 Et c'est par la volonté de Dieu qu'Achazia se perdit en venant auprès de Joram; et à son arrivée il s'achemina avec Joram, au-devant de Jéhu, fils de Nimsi, que l'Éternel avait oint pour extirper la maison d'Achab.
But, from God, came the downfall of Azariah, through his coming to Joram, —and because, through his coming, he went out with Jehoram against Jehu son of Nimshi, whom Yahweh had anointed to cut off the house of Ahab.
8 Et comme Jéhu faisait justice de la maison d'Achab, il atteignit les chefs de Juda et les fils des frères d'Achab, qui étaient au service d'Achazia, et les massacra.
And so it came to pass, when Jehu was executing judgment upon the house of Ahab, —and found the rulers of Judah and the sons of the brethren of Ahaziah ministering to Ahaziah, that he slew them.
9 Et il chercha Achazia, qui fut pris comme il se cachait dans Samarie, et on l'emmena à Jéhu, et on le fit mourir, et on lui donna la sépulture; car ils disaient: C'est le fils de Josaphat qui cherchait l'Éternel de tout son cœur. Et dans la maison d'Achazia il n'y avait personne d'apte à régner.
And he sought Ahaziah, and they captured him, he, having hid himself in Samaria, and they brought him unto Jehu, and he put him to death, and they buried him, because, said they, he is, the son of Jehoshaphat, who sought Yahweh with all his heart, —and, no one of the house of Ahaziah, had ability for the kingdom.
10 Mais Athalie, mère d'Achazia, voyant son fils mort, se mit en devoir de détruire toute la race royale de la maison de Juda.
But, when, Athaliah mother of Ahaziah, saw that her son was dead, she rose up and destroyed all the seed royal of the house of Judah.
11 Alors Josabeath, fille de roi, prit Joas, fils d'Achazia, et parvint à le soustraire du milieu des fils du roi qu'on mettait à mort, et le logea lui et sa nourrice dans la salle des lits; ainsi le cacha Josabeath, fille du roi Joram, femme de Joiada, le Prêtre (car elle était sœur d'Achazia) aux regards d'Athalie, afin que celle-ci ne le fît pas mourir;
But Jehoshabeath, daughter of the king, took Joash son of Ahaziah, and stole him from among the sons of the king who were being slain, and put him and his nurse in a bedchamber, —so Jehoshabeath daughter of King Jehoram—wife of Jehoiada the priest, for, she, was the sister of Ahaziah—hid him from the face of Athaliah so that she slew him not.
12 et il fut avec eux dans la maison de Dieu, caché pendant six ans. Cependant Athalie régissait le pays.
And it came to pass that he was with them, in the house of God, hidden six years, -while, Athaliah, was reigning over the land.
