1 Rois 6
1 Et l'an quatre cent quatre-vingt après la sortie des enfants d'Israël hors du pays d'Egypte, dans la quatrième année, au mois de Ziv (c'est le second mois), du règne de Salomon sur Israël, il se mit à édifier la Maison en l'honneur de l'Éternel.
And it came to pass in the four hundred and eightieth year after the children of Israel were come out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon's reign over Israel, in the month Ziv, which is the second month, that he began to build the house of the LORD.
2 Et la Maison que le Roi Salomon bâtit en l'honneur de l'Éternel, avait soixante coudées de longueur et vingt coudées de largeur et trente coudées de hauteur.
And the house which king Solomon built for the LORD, the length thereof was threescore cubits, and the breadth thereof twenty cubits, and the height thereof thirty cubits.
3 Et le Vestibule au front du Temple de la Maison avait vingt coudées dans sa longueur, faisant face à la largeur de l'édifice, et dix coudées dans sa largeur à partir du front de l'édifice.
And the porch before the temple of the house, twenty cubits was the length thereof, according to the breadth of the house; and ten cubits was the breadth thereof before the house.
4 Et il ménagea au bâtiment des fenêtres munies de jalousies en barreaux de clôture.
And for the house he made windows broad within, and narrow without.
5 Et il flanqua le mur du bâtiment d'une substruction qui l'entourait, attenante aux murs de l'édifice dans leur pourtour, (c'est-à-dire) du Temple et du Sanctuaire, et y pratiqua des chambres latérales étagées à l'entour.
And against the wall of the house he built a side-structure round about, against the walls of the house round about, both of the temple and of the sanctuary; and he made side-chambers round about;
6 L'étage inférieur avait cinq coudées en largeur, le mitoyen, six coudées en largeur, et le troisième, sept coudées en largeur; car il avait ménagé des saillies au bâtiment tout autour en dehors pour n'avoir pas à entamer les murs de l'édifice.
the nethermost story of the side-structure was five cubits broad, and the middle was six cubits broad, and the third was seven cubits broad; for on the outside he made rebatements in the wall of the house round about, that the beams should not have hold in the walls of the house. —
7 Et le bâtiment, lorsqu'il fut élevé, fut construit de pierres complètement préparées quant à la taille; et ni marteau, ni ciseau, ni outil de fer quelconque ne furent entendus dans l'édifice durant sa construction.
For the house, when it was in building, was built of stone made ready at the quarry; and there was neither hammer nor axe nor any tool of iron heard in the house, while it was in building. —
8 Une porte de l'étage inférieur se trouvait au côté droit du bâtiment, et par un escalier à vis on montait à l'étage mitoyen, et de l'étage mitoyen au troisième.
The door for the lowest row of chambers was in the right side of the house and they went up by winding stairs into the middle row, and out of the middle into the third.
9 C'est ainsi qu'il bâtit la Maison et l'acheva, et il couvrit l'édifice de pièces de bois en arc et de rangées de cèdres.
So he built the house, and finished it; and he covered in the house with planks of cedar over beams.
10 Et chacun des étages qui entouraient tout l'édifice, fut élevé à cinq coudées de hauteur et lié au bâtiment par du cèdre.
And he built the stories of the side-structure against all the house, each five cubits high; and they rested on the house with timber of cedar.
11 Et la parole de l'Éternel fut adressée à Salomon en ces termes: Quant à cette Maison que tu construis,
And the word of the LORD came to Solomon, saying:
12 si tu prends mes statuts pour guides, exécutes mes lois et gardes tous mes commandements pour les suivre, je mettrai à effet sur toi la promesse que j'ai faite à David, ton père,
'As for this house which thou art building, if thou wilt walk in My statutes, and execute Mine ordinances, and keep all My commandments to walk in them; then will I establish My word with thee, which I spoke unto David thy father;
13 et j'habiterai au milieu des enfants d'Israël, et n'abandonnerai point mon peuple d'Israël.
in that I will dwell therein among the children of Israel, and will not forsake My people Israel.'
14 Salomon bâtit donc la Maison et l'acheva.
So Solomon built the house, and finished it.
15 Et il construisit en cèdre les parois intérieures de l'édifice; du sol de l'édifice jusqu'aux poutres du plafond, le revêtement intérieur ayant été fait de bois, il revêtit le sol de l'édifice d'un parquet de cyprès.
And he built the walls of the house within with boards of cedar; from the floor of the house unto the joists of the ceiling, he covered them on the inside with wood; and he covered the floor of the house with boards of cypress.
16 Et il recouvrit les vingt coudées à partir du fond de l'édifice d'ais de cèdre, du sol aux poutres, et il disposa l'intérieur en Sanctuaire, en Lieu Très-Saint.
And he built twenty cubits on the hinder part of the house with boards of cedar from the floor unto the joists; he even built them for himself within, for a Sanctuary, even for the most holy place.
17 Et l'édifice avait quarante coudées, c'est-à-dire, le Temple devant [le Sanctuaire].
And the house, that is, the temple before the Sanctuary, was forty cubits long.
18 Et le dedans de l'édifice était pur cèdre, bas-reliefs sculptés en coloquintes et fleurs épanouies, le tout de cèdre; on n'y voyait pas de pierres.
And the cedar on the house within was carved with knops and open flowers; all was cedar; there was no stone seen.
19 Et au centre de la Maison intérieurement il disposa un Sanctuaire pour y placer l'Arche de l'Alliance de l'Éternel.
And he prepared the Sanctuary in the midst of the house within, to set there the ark of the covenant of the LORD.
20 D'ailleurs le Sanctuaire avait vingt coudées de longueur et vingt coudées de largeur et vingt coudées de hauteur, et il en fit le revêtement de l'or le plus pur, et le revêtement de l'Autel, de bois de cèdre.
And before the Sanctuary which was twenty cubits in length, and twenty cubits in breadth, and twenty cubits in the height thereof, overlaid with pure gold, he set an altar, which he covered with cedar.
21 Et Salomon recouvrit à l'intérieur la Maison de l'or le plus pur, et il fit passer au moyen de chaînettes d'or [le Voile] devant le Sanctuaire, qu'il avait recouvert d'or.
So Solomon overlaid the house within with pure gold; and he drew chains of gold across the wall before the Sanctuary; and he overlaid it with gold.
22 Et il recouvrit d'or toute la Maison, la totalité de la Maison dans son entier, et recouvrit d'or tout l'Autel qui était devant le Sanctuaire.
And the whole house he overlaid with gold, until all the house was finished; also the whole altar that belonged to the Sanctuary he overlaid with gold.
23 Et il fit dans le Sanctuaire deux Chérubins d'olivier sauvage, ayant dix coudées de hauteur.
And in the Sanctuary he made two cherubim of olive-wood, each ten cubits high.
24 Et l'une des ailes d'un Chérubin avait cinq coudées, et la seconde aile d'un Chérubin avait cinq coudées, dix coudées d'un bout de ses ailes à l'autre bout de ses ailes.
And five cubits was the one wing of the cherub, and five cubits the other wing of the cherub; from the uttermost part of the one wing unto the uttermost part of the other were ten cubits.
25 Et le second Chérubin avait aussi dix coudées: une même mesure et une même taille pour les deux Chérubins.
And the other cherub was ten cubits; both the cherubim were of one measure and one form.
26 L'un des deux Chérubins avait dix coudées de hauteur, et l'autre de même.
The height of the one cherub was ten cubits, and so was it of the other cherub.
27 Et il plaça les Chérubins au centre de l'édifice intérieur, et ils avaient les ailes déployées, de telle sorte que l'aile de l'un touchait à la paroi, et l'aile du second à l'autre paroi, et que leurs ailes se rencontraient bout à bout au centre de l'édifice.
And he set the cherubim within the inner house; and the wings of the cherubim were stretched forth, so that the wing of the one touched the one wall, and the wing of the other cherub touched the other wall; and their wings touched one another in the midst of the house.
28 Et il recouvrit d'or les Chérubins.
And he overlaid the cherubim with gold.
29 Et à toutes les parois de la Maison il fit de tous les côtés des ciselures en relief représentant des Chérubins et des palmes et des fleurs épanouies, à l'intérieur et à l'extérieur.
And he carved all the walls of the house round about with carved figures of cherubim and palm-trees and open flowers, within and without.
30 Et il recouvrit d'or le sol de l'édifice, à l'intérieur et à l'extérieur.
And the floor of the house he overlaid with gold, within and without.
31 Et il forma la porte du Sanctuaire de battants de bois d'olivier sauvage et donna à la saillie des jambages le cinquième [de l'épaisseur de la muraille].
And for the entrance of the Sanctuary he made doors of olive-wood, the door-posts within the frame having five angles.
32 Et sur les deux battants de bois d'olivier sauvage il cisela en relief des Chérubins et des palmes et des fleurs épanouies, et fit un revêtement d'or, et il étendit l'or sur les Chérubins et les palmes.
And as for the two doors of olive-wood, he carved upon them carvings of cherubim and palm-trees and open flowers, and overlaid them with gold; and he spread the gold upon the cherubim, and upon the palm-trees.
33 Il fit ainsi à la porte du Temple des jambages de bois d'olivier sauvage ayant le quart [de l'épaisseur de l'entrée], et une porte à battants de bois de cyprès,
So also made he for the entrance of the temple door-posts of olive-wood, within a frame four-square;
34 l'un des battants formé de deux ais versatiles, et l'autre battant formé de deux ais versatiles.
and two doors of cypress-wood; the two leaves of the one door were folding, and the two leaves of the other door were folding.
35 Et il cisela des Chérubins et des palmes et des fleurs épanouies et les recouvrit d'or étendu sur la ciselure.
And he carved thereon cherubim and palm-trees and open flowers; and he overlaid them with gold fitted upon the graven work.
36 Et pour former les parois intérieures il éleva trois rangées de pierres de taille surmontées d'une rangée de madriers de cèdres.
And he built the inner court with three rows of hewn stone, and a row of cedar beams.
37 L'an quatre fut fondée la Maison de l'Éternel au mois de Ziv,
In the fourth year was the foundation of the house of the LORD laid, in the month Ziv.
38 et l'an onze au mois de Boul (qui est le huitième mois) la Maison fut achevée dans tous ses détails et la totalité de son plan, et l'on y travailla sept ans.
And in the eleventh year, in the month Bul, which is the eighth month, was the house finished throughout all the parts thereof, and according to all the fashion of it. So was he seven years in building it.
