1 Corinthiens 1

1 Paul, appelé à être apôtre de Christ Jésus par la volonté de Dieu, et le frère Sosthène,

Paul, a called apostle of Jesus Christ, through the will of God, and Sosthenes the brother,

2 à l'église de Dieu qui est dans Corinthe, et dont les membres sanctifiés en Christ Jésus sont appelés à être saints, ainsi qu'à tous ceux qui invoquent le nom de notre seigneur Jésus-Christ en tous lieux, les leurs et les nôtres:

to the assembly of God that is in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus, called saints, with all those calling upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ in every place — both theirs and ours:

3 que la grâce et la paix vous soient données par Dieu notre Père et par le seigneur Jésus-Christ!

Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ!

4 Je rends perpétuellement des actions de grâces à Dieu pour vous, à cause de la grâce de Dieu qui vous a été donnée en Christ Jésus,

I give thanks to my God always concerning you for the grace of God that was given to you in Christ Jesus,

5 car vous avez été enrichis en lui de toute manière en tout ce qui concerne le discours et la connaissance,

that in every thing ye were enriched in him, in all discourse and all knowledge,

6 à proportion de ce que le témoignage de Christ s'est affermi en vous,

according as the testimony of the Christ was confirmed in you,

7 en sorte que vous n'êtes dépourvus d'aucun don, vous qui attendez la révélation de notre seigneur Jésus-Christ,

so that ye are not behind in any gift, waiting for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ,

8 qui, de son côté, vous affermira jusques à la fin, de sorte que vous serez irrépréhensibles dans la journée de notre seigneur Jésus.

who also shall confirm you unto the end — unblamable in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ;

9 Il est fidèle, Dieu par qui vous avez été appelés à être associés à Son fils Jésus notre Seigneur!

faithful [is] God, through whom ye were called to the fellowship of His Son Jesus Christ our Lord.

10 Mais je vous exhorte, frères, au nom de notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ, à tenir tous le même langage, et à ce qu'il n'y ait pas de divisions parmi vous, mais que vous soyez parfaitement unis d'intelligence et d'opinion.

And I call upon you, brethren, through the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that the same thing ye may all say, and there may not be divisions among you, and ye may be perfected in the same mind, and in the same judgment,

11 Car j'ai été informé en ce qui vous concerne, mes frères, par les gens de Chloé, qu'il y a des querelles parmi vous;

for it was signified to me concerning you, my brethren, by those of Chloe, that contentions are among you;

12 je veux dire, que chacun de vous s'exprime ainsi: « Quant à moi je tiens pour Paul » — « Moi, c'est pour Apollos. » — « Moi, c'est pour Céphas. » — « Moi, c'est pour Christ. »

and I say this, that each one of you saith, 'I, indeed, am of Paul' — 'and I of Apollos,' — 'and I of Cephas,' — 'and I of Christ.'

13 Christ est-il partagé? Est-ce que Paul a été crucifié pour vous, ou bien est-ce au nom de Paul que vous avez été baptisés?

Hath the Christ been divided? was Paul crucified for you? or to the name of Paul were ye baptized;

14 Je rends grâces de ce que je n'ai baptisé aucun de vous, sauf Crispus et Gaïus,

I give thanks to God that no one of you did I baptize, except Crispus and Gaius —

15 afin que personne ne dise que vous avez été baptisés en mon nom;

that no one may say that to my own name I did baptize;

16 j'ai bien encore baptisé la famille de Stéphanas; du reste je ne sache pas que j'aie baptisé quelque autre personne.

and I did baptize also Stephanas' household — further, I have not known if I did baptize any other.

17 En effet Christ ne m'a pas envoyé pour baptiser, mais pour annoncer la bonne nouvelle; mais non pas avec une sagesse éloquente, afin que la croix de Christ ne fût pas rendue vaine;

For Christ did not send me to baptize, but — to proclaim good news; not in wisdom of discourse, that the cross of the Christ may not be made of none effect;

18 car, tandis que la prédication de la croix est une folie pour ceux qui périssent, pour nous qui sommes sauvés elle est une puissance de Dieu;

for the word of the cross to those indeed perishing is foolishness, and to us — those being saved — it is the power of God,

19 en effet il est écrit: « Je détruirai la sagesse des sages, J'anéantirai l'intelligence des intelligents. »

for it hath been written, 'I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and the intelligence of the intelligent I will bring to nought;'

20 Où y a-t-il un sage? Où un scribe? Où un disputeur de ce siècle? Dieu n'a-t-Il pas frappé de folie la sagesse du monde? » (aiōn g165)

where [is] the wise? where the scribe? where a disputer of this age? did not God make foolish the wisdom of this world? (aiōn g165)

21 Car, comme dans la sagesse de Dieu le monde n'a pas reconnu Dieu par la sagesse, Dieu a jugé bon de sauver les croyants par la folie de la prédication,

for, seeing in the wisdom of God the world through the wisdom knew not God, it did please God through the foolishness of the preaching to save those believing.

22 puisque, tandis que les Juifs demandent des miracles et que les Grecs de leur côté recherchent la sagesse,

Since also Jews ask a sign, and Greeks seek wisdom,

23 du nôtre nous prêchons Christ crucifié, pour les Juifs un scandale, et pour les Gentils une folie,

also we — we preach Christ crucified, to Jews, indeed, a stumbling-block, and to Greeks foolishness,

24 mais pour eux-mêmes, quand ils ont été appelés, soit Juifs soit Grecs, Christ puissance de Dieu et sagesse de Dieu;

and to those called — both Jews and Greeks — Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God,

25 car la folie de Dieu est plus sage que les hommes, et la faiblesse de Dieu est plus forte que les hommes.

because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men;

26 Considérez en effet, frères, que l'appel qui vous a été adressé ne concerne ni beaucoup de sages selon la chair, ni beaucoup de puissants, ni beaucoup de nobles;

for see your calling, brethren, that not many [are] wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble;

27 mais Dieu a choisi les choses folles du monde afin de confondre les sages, et Dieu a choisi les choses faibles du monde, afin de confondre les fortes,

but the foolish things of the world did God choose, that the wise He may put to shame; and the weak things of the world did God choose that He may put to shame the strong;

28 et Dieu a choisi les choses basses du monde et celles qui sont méprisées et celles qui ne sont rien, pour renverser celles qui sont,

and the base things of the world, and the things despised did God choose, and the things that are not, that the things that are He may make useless —

29 afin que personne ne s'enorgueillisse devant Dieu.

that no flesh may glory before Him;

30 Or c'est à Lui que vous devez d'être unis à Christ Jésus qui, par la volonté de Dieu, est devenu notre sagesse, notre justice, notre sanctification et notre rédemption,

and of Him ye — ye are in Christ Jesus, who became to us from God wisdom, righteousness also, and sanctification, and redemption,

31 afin que, comme il est écrit: « Que celui qui s'enorgueillit s'enorgueillisse dans le Seigneur! »

that, according as it hath been written, 'He who is glorying — in the Lord let him glory.'
