1 Chroniques 28

1 Et David assembla tous les chefs d'Israël, les chefs des Tribus et les chefs des Classes, qui étaient au service du roi, et les chefs des milliers et les chefs des centaines et les chefs qui avaient l'intendance de toutes les propriétés et des troupeaux du roi et qui étaient auprès de ses fils, ainsi que les eunuques et les héros et tous les hommes vaillants, à Jérusalem.

And so David called together all the leaders of Israel, the rulers of the tribes, and those in charge of the companies, who were ministering to the king, and also the tribunes and centurions, and those in charge of the substance and possessions of the king, and his sons, with the eunuchs and the powerful and those most experienced in the army, at Jerusalem.

2 Et le roi David debout sur ses pieds dit: Écoutez-moi, mes frères et mon peuple! J'avais l'intention de bâtir une maison de repos pour l'Arche d'Alliance de l'Éternel et le marchepied de notre Dieu, et je m'apprêtais à bâtir,

And when the king had risen up and was standing, he said: “Listen to me, my brothers and my people. I thought that I would build a house, in which the ark of the covenant of the Lord, the footstool of our God, might rest. And so I prepared everything for its building.

3 lorsque Dieu me dit: Tu n'élèveras pas de Temple à Mon Nom, parce que tu es un homme de guerre et que tu as fait couler du sang.

But God said to me: ‘You shall not build a house to my name, because you are a man of war, and have shed blood.’

4 Et l'Éternel, Dieu d'Israël, m'a choisi dans toute la maison de mon père pour être roi d'Israël à jamais; car c'est Juda qu'il a choisi pour prince, et dans la maison de Juda la maison de mon père, et entre les fils de mon père c'est moi qu'il a daigné faire roi de tout Israël;

Now the Lord God of Israel chose me, out of the entire house of my father, so that I would be king over Israel forever. For from Judah he chose leaders; then from the house of Judah he chose the house of my father; and from the sons of my father, it pleased him to choose me as king over all of Israel.

5 et entre tous mes fils (car l'Éternel m'a accordé beaucoup de fils). Il a fait choix de mon fils, Salomon, pour s'asseoir sur le trône royal de l'Éternel au-dessus d'Israël.

Then too, among my sons (for the Lord has given me many sons) he chose Solomon my son, so that he would sit upon the throne of the kingdom of the Lord, over Israel.

6 Et Il m'a dit: C'est Salomon, ton fils, qui édifiera mon Temple et mes parvis; car je me le suis choisi pour fils et veux être pour lui un père.

And he said to me: ‘Solomon your son shall build my house and my courts. For I have chosen him to be to me as a son, and I will be to him as a father.

7 Et je consoliderai sa royauté pour l'éternité, s'il tient ferme à l'exécution de mes commandements et de mes arrêts, comme aujourd'hui.

And I will make firm his kingdom, even unto eternity, if he will persevere in doing my precepts and judgments, as also today.’

8 Et maintenant devant les yeux de tout Israël, Assemblée de l'Éternel, et aux oreilles de notre Dieu [je vous adresse cette sommation]: Gardez et étudiez tous les commandements de l'Éternel, votre Dieu, afin de rester possesseurs de l'excellent pays, et de le transmettre à vos fils après vous éternellement.

Now therefore, before the entire assembly of Israel, in the hearing of our God, keep and seek all the commandments of the Lord our God, so that you may possess the good land, and may bequeath it to your sons after you, even forever.

9 Et toi, mon fils, Salomon, connais le Dieu de ton père et Le sers d'un cœur non partagé et par inclination d'âme, car l'Éternel sonde tous les cœurs et pénètre toute formation de pensées. Si tu Le cherches, Il se laissera trouver par toi, mais si tu L'abandonnes, Il te réprouvera pour toujours.

And as for you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father, and serve him with a perfect heart and a willing mind. For the Lord searches all hearts, and understands the thoughts of all minds. If you seek him, you will find him. But if you abandon him, he will cast you aside for eternity.

10 Avise donc, puisque l'Éternel t'a choisi pour élever un édifice qui soit un Sanctuaire; courage! et exécute.

Now therefore, since the Lord has chosen you, so that you would build the house of the Sanctuary, be strengthened and accomplish it.”

11 Et David donna à Salomon, son fils, le plan du vestibule et de ses constructions et de ses trésors et de ses chambres hautes et de ses chambres intérieures, et de l'édifice du propitiatoire,

Then David gave to his son Solomon a description of the portico, and the temple, and the storerooms, and the upper floor, and the innermost rooms, and the house of propitiation,

12 le plan de tout ce qu'il avait dans l'esprit pour les parvis du Temple de l'Éternel, et toutes les cellules du pourtour et les trésors de la maison de Dieu

and indeed also of all the courts that he had planned, and the outer rooms on all sides, for the treasuries of the house of the Lord, and for the treasuries of the holy things,

13 et les trésors des objets consacrés pour les classes des Prêtres et des Lévites et tout le détail du service dans la maison de l'Éternel, et tous les ustensiles du service dans la maison de l'Éternel;

and for the divisions of the priests and the Levites: concerning all the works of the house of the Lord and all the items in the ministry of the temple of the Lord.

14 pour les ustensiles d'or, avec le poids pour ce qui serait d'or, pour tous les ustensiles des divers services, et pour tous les ustensiles d'argent, avec le poids pour tous les ustensiles des divers services,

There was gold by weight for every vessel of the ministry, and also silver by weight for the diversity of vessels and equipment.

15 et pour le poids des candélabres d'or et de leurs lampes d'or avec le poids de chaque candélabre et de ses lampes, et pour les candélabres d'argent avec le poids de chaque candélabre et de ses lampes, selon l'usage de chaque candélabre,

Then too, he distributed gold for the lampstands and their lamps, according to the measure of each of the lampstands with their lamps. Similarly also, he distributed silver by weight for the silver lampstands with their lamps, according to the diversity of their measure.

16 et pour l'or, avec le poids, pour les tables de pains de présentation, pour chaque table, et pour l'argent des tables d'argent;

Also, he gave gold for the tables of the presence, according to the diversity of the tables; similarly too, he gave silver for the other tables of silver.

17 et pour les fourchettes et les patères et les fioles d'or pur, et pour les coupes d'or avec le poids pour les diverses coupes, et pour les coupes d'argent avec le poids de chaque coupe,

Also, he distributed from the purest gold for the small hooks and the bowls and the censors, as well as for the little lions of gold, in accord with the precise measure of the weight, for lion after lion. Similarly too, for the lions of silver, he set aside a different weight of silver.

18 et pour l'autel aux parfums d'or purifié, avec le poids, et pour le plan du char, des chérubins d'or, de leurs ailes déployées couvrant l'Arche d'Alliance de l'Éternel.

Then, for the altar on which the incense was burned, he gave the purest gold. And from the same he made the likeness of the chariot of the Cherubim, with extended wings, which is veiling the ark of the covenant of the Lord.

19 « Tout cela est mis par écrit de par l'Éternel qui m'a instruit de tout le détail du plan. »

“All these things,” he said, “came to me written by the hand of the Lord, so that I would understand all the works of the pattern.”

20 Et David dit à Salomon, son fils: Courage et fermeté! et exécute sans crainte ni peur, car l'Éternel, Dieu, mon Dieu, est avec toi. Il ne te fera pas défaut et ne te délaissera pas jusqu'à l'achèvement de tout ce qui est a faire pour le service de la maison de l'Éternel.

David also said to his son Solomon: “Act manfully, and be strengthened, and carry it out. You should not be afraid, and you should not be dismayed. For the Lord my God will be with you, and he will not send you away, nor will he abandon you, until you have perfected the entire work of the ministry of the house of the Lord.

21 Et tu as ici les classes des Prêtres et des Lévites pour la totalité du service de la maison de Dieu, et pour toute l'œuvre, l'aide de tout autant d'hommes distingués par leur habileté à tout travail, et des chefs et de tout le peuple pour toutes tes affaires.

Behold, the divisions of the priests and the Levites, for every ministry of the house of the Lord, are standing before you. And they have been prepared, and so they know, both the leaders and the people, how to carry out all your precepts.”
