1 Et dans la suite David battit les Philistins et les abaissa, et il enleva Gath et ses annexes à la domination des Philistins.
Some time later, David defeated the Philistines, subdued them, and took Gath and its villages from the hand of the Philistines.
2 Et il battit les Moabites et les Moabites furent asservis à David, payant le tribut.
David also defeated the Moabites, and they became subject to David and brought him tribute.
3 Et David battit Hadarézer, roi de Tsoba, vers Hamath, comme il allait établir sa puissance sur l'Euphrate.
As far as Hamath, David also defeated King Hadadezer of Zobah, who had marched out to establish his dominion along the Euphrates River.
4 Et David lui enleva mille chars et sept mille cavaliers et vingt mille fantassins, et David coupa le tendon à tous les chevaux de trait, dont il garda une centaine.
David captured from him a thousand chariots, seven thousand charioteers, and twenty thousand foot soldiers, and he hamstrung all the horses except a hundred he kept for the chariots.
5 Et les Syriens de Damas vinrent au secours d'Hadarézer, roi de Tsoba, et David mit des Syriens vingt-deux mille hommes en déroute.
When the Arameans of Damascus came to help King Hadadezer of Zobah, David struck down twenty-two thousand men.
6 Et David mit [garnison] dans la Syrie de Damas, et les Syriens furent asservis à David payant le tribut. Et l'Éternel était en aide à David dans toutes ses campagnes.
Then he placed garrisons in Aram of Damascus, and the Arameans became subject to David and brought him tribute. So the LORD made David victorious wherever he went.
7 Et David prit les boucliers d'or que portaient les serviteurs d'Hadarézer et les amena à Jérusalem.
And David took the gold shields that belonged to the officers of Hadadezer and brought them to Jerusalem.
8 Et de Tibehath et de Chun, villes d'Hadarézer, David enleva de l'airain en très grande quantité, dont Salomon fit la mer d'airain et les colonnes et les ustensiles d'airain.
And from Tibhath and Cun, cities of Hadadezer, David took a large amount of bronze, with which Solomon made the bronze Sea, the pillars, and various bronze articles.
9 Et Thôou, roi de Hamath, apprenant que David avait abattu toute la puissance d'Hadarézer, roi de Tsoba,
When King Tou of Hamath heard that David had defeated the entire army of Hadadezer king of Zobah,
10 envoya Hadoram, son fils, au roi David pour le saluer et le féliciter d'avoir combattu Hadarézer et de l'avoir défait, (car Thôou était en guerre avec Hadarézer) et toutes sortes d'ustensiles d'or, d'argent et d'airain,
he sent his son Hadoram to greet King David and bless him for fighting and defeating Hadadezer, who had been at war with Tou. Hadoram brought all kinds of articles of gold and silver and bronze,
11 que le roi David consacra aussi à l'Éternel avec l'argent et l'or qu'il avait pris sur toutes les nations, sur les Edomites et les Moabites et les Ammonites et les Philistins et les Amalécites.
and King David dedicated these to the LORD, along with the silver and gold he had carried off from all these nations—from Edom and Moab, and from the Ammonites, Philistines, and Amalekites.
12 Et Abisaï, fils de Tseruïa, défit dans la vallée du sel les Edomites, au nombre de dix-huit mille.
Moreover, Abishai son of Zeruiah struck down eighteen thousand Edomites in the Valley of Salt.
13 Et il mit des garnisons en Edom, et tout Edom fut assujetti à David. Ainsi l'Éternel était en aide à David dans toutes ses campagnes.
He placed garrisons in Edom, and all the Edomites were subject to David. So the LORD made David victorious wherever he went.
14 Et David régnait sur la totalité d'Israël, et il faisait droit et justice à tout son peuple.
Thus David reigned over all Israel and administered justice and righteousness for all his people:
15 Et Joab, fils de Tseruïa, était préposé sur l'armée, et Josaphat, fils d'Ahilud, était chancelier;
Joab son of Zeruiah was over the army; Jehoshaphat son of Ahilud was the recorder;
16 et Tsadoc, fils d'Ahitub, et Abimélech, fils d'Abiathar, étaient Prêtres; et Savsa, secrétaire;
Zadok son of Ahitub and Ahimelech son of Abiathar were priests; Shavsha was the scribe;
17 et Benaïa, fils de Joiada, était préposé sur les exécuteurs et les coureurs; et les fils de David étaient les premiers au côté du roi.
Benaiah son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and Pelethites; and David’s sons were chief officials at the king’s side.
