Psaumes 94
1 Dieu des vengeances, Éternel, Dieu des vengeances, fais briller ta splendeur!
O LORD, Thou God to whom vengeance belongeth, Thou God to whom vengeance belongeth, shine forth.
2 Élève-toi, juge de la terre, rends la récompense aux orgueilleux!
Lift up Thyself, Thou Judge of the earth; render to the proud their recompense.
3 Jusques à quand les méchants, ô Éternel, jusques à quand les méchants triompheront-ils?
LORD, how long shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked exult?
4 Jusques à quand tous les ouvriers d'iniquité se répandront-ils en discours insolents et se glorifieront-ils?
They gush out, they speak arrogancy; all the workers of iniquity bear themselves loftily.
5 Éternel, ils écrasent ton peuple, et ils oppriment ton héritage.
They crush Thy people, O LORD, and afflict Thy heritage.
6 Ils tuent la veuve et l'étranger, et mettent à mort les orphelins.
They slay the widow and the stranger, and murder the fatherless.
7 Et ils disent: L'Éternel ne le voit pas, le Dieu de Jacob n'y prend pas garde.
And they say: 'The LORD will not see, neither will the God of Jacob give heed.'
8 Prenez garde, vous les plus stupides du peuple! Insensés, quand serez-vous intelligents?
Consider, ye brutish among the people; and ye fools, when will ye understand?
9 Celui qui plante l'oreille n'entendra-t-il pas? Celui qui forme l'œil ne verra-t-il pas?
He that planted the ear, shall He not hear? He that formed the eye, shall He not see?
10 Celui qui châtie les nations, ne punira-t-il pas, lui qui enseigne aux hommes la science?
He that instructeth nations, shall not He correct? even He that teacheth man knowledge?
11 L'Éternel connaît que les pensées de l'homme ne sont que vanité.
The LORD knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are vanity.
12 Heureux l'homme que tu châties, ô Éternel, et que tu instruis par ta loi,
Happy is the man whom Thou instructest, O LORD, and teachest out of Thy law;
13 Pour le mettre à l'abri des jours d'adversité, jusqu'à ce que la fosse soit creusée pour le méchant.
That Thou mayest give him rest from the days of evil, until the pit be digged for the wicked.
14 Car l'Éternel ne délaisse point son peuple et n'abandonne point son héritage.
For the LORD will not cast off His people, neither will He forsake His inheritance.
15 Car le jugement sera conforme à la justice; et tous ceux qui sont droits de cœur le suivront.
For right shall return unto justice, and all the upright in heart shall follow it.
16 Qui se lèvera pour moi contre les méchants? Qui m'assistera contre les ouvriers d'iniquité?
Who will rise up for me against the evil-doers? Who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?
17 Si l'Éternel n'eût été mon secours, bientôt mon âme eût habité le lieu du silence.
Unless the LORD had been my help, my soul had soon dwelt in silence.
18 Lorsque j'ai dit: Mon pied a glissé, ta bonté, ô Éternel, m'a soutenu.
If I say: 'My foot slippeth', Thy mercy, O LORD, holdeth me up.
19 Quand j'avais beaucoup de pensées au-dedans de moi, tes consolations ont réjoui mon âme.
When my cares are many within me, Thy comforts delight my soul.
20 Serais-tu l'allié du trône de méchanceté, qui forge des injustices contre la loi?
Shall the seat of wickedness have fellowship with Thee, which frameth mischief by statute?
21 Ils s'assemblent contre l'âme du juste et condamnent le sang innocent.
They gather themselves together against the soul of the righteous, and condemn innocent blood.
22 Mais l'Éternel est ma haute retraite; mon Dieu est le rocher de mon refuge.
But the LORD hath been my high tower, and my God the rock of my refuge.
23 Il fera retomber sur eux leur iniquité, et les détruira par leur propre méchanceté; l'Éternel notre Dieu les détruira.
And He hath brought upon them their own iniquity, and will cut them off in their own evil; the LORD our God will cut them off.
