< Psaumes 116 >

1 J'aime l'Éternel, car il a entendu ma voix et mes supplications;
I rejoice that the LORD hath heard the voice of my supplication,
2 Car il a incliné son oreille vers moi; aussi je l'invoquerai toute ma vie.
That he hath inclined his ear to me and heard me; I will call upon him as long as I live.
3 Les liens de la mort m'avaient entouré, les angoisses du Sépulcre m'avaient saisi; j'avais trouvé la détresse et la douleur. (Sheol h7585)
The snares of death encompassed me, And the pains of the underworld seized upon me; I found distress and sorrow. (Sheol h7585)
4 Mais j'invoquai le nom de l'Éternel: O Éternel, délivre mon âme!
Then called I upon the LORD: O LORD! deliver me!
5 L'Éternel est compatissant et juste, et notre Dieu fait miséricorde.
Gracious is the LORD, and righteous; Yea, our God is merciful.
6 L'Éternel garde les petits; j'étais misérable, et il m'a sauvé.
The LORD preserveth the simple; I was brought low, and he helped me.
7 Mon âme, retourne à ton repos, car l'Éternel t'a fait du bien.
Return, O my soul! to thy rest! For the LORD hath dealt kindly with thee.
8 Car tu as délivré mon âme de la mort, mes yeux de pleurs, et mes pieds de chute.
For thou hast preserved me from death; Thou hast kept mine eyes from tears, And my feet from falling!
9 Je marcherai devant la face de l'Éternel sur la terre des vivants.
I shall walk before the LORD, In the land of the living.
10 J'ai cru, c'est pourquoi j'ai parlé. J'ai été fort affligé.
I had trust, although I said, “I am grievously afflicted!”
11 Je disais dans mon agitation: Tout homme est menteur.
I said in my distress, “All men are liars.”
12 Que rendrai-je à l'Éternel? Tous ses bienfaits sont sur moi.
What shall I render to the LORD For all his benefits to me?
13 Je prendrai la coupe des délivrances, et j'invoquerai le nom de l'Éternel.
I will take the cup of salvation, And call upon the name of the LORD;
14 Je rendrai mes vœux à l'Éternel, en présence de tout son peuple.
I will pay my vows to the LORD, In the presence of all his people.
15 La mort des bien-aimés de l'Éternel est précieuse à ses yeux.
Precious in the eyes of the LORD Is the death of his holy ones.
16 Je te prie, ô Éternel! car je suis ton serviteur, ton serviteur, fils de ta servante. Tu as délié mes liens.
Hear, O LORD! for I am thy servant; I am thy servant, the son of thy handmaid! Thou hast loosed my bonds.
17 Je t'offrirai le sacrifice d'actions de grâces, et j'invoquerai le nom de l'Éternel.
I will offer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving, And will call upon the name of the LORD.
18 Je rendrai mes vœux à l'Éternel, en présence de tout son peuple,
I will pay my vows to the LORD In the presence of all his people,
19 Dans les parvis de la maison de l'Éternel, au milieu de toi, Jérusalem. Louez l'Éternel!
In the courts of the house of the LORD, In the midst of thee, O Jerusalem! Praise ye the LORD!
