Psaumes 104
1 Mon âme, bénis l'Éternel! Éternel, mon Dieu, tu es merveilleusement grand; tu es revêtu de splendeur et de majesté.
[A Psalm] of David. Bless the Lord, O my soul. O Lord my God, you are very great; you have clothed yourself with praise and honor:
2 Il s'enveloppe de lumière comme d'un vêtement; il étend les cieux comme une tenture.
who do robe yourself with light as with a garment; spreading out the heaven as a curtain.
3 Il construit sa haute demeure avec les eaux; il fait des nuées son char; il se promène sur les ailes du vent.
Who covers his chambers with waters; who makes the clouds his chariot; who walks on the wings of the wind.
4 Il fait des vents ses messagers, des flammes de feu ses serviteurs.
Who makes his angels spirits, and his ministers a flaming fire.
5 Il a posé la terre sur ses bases; elle est inébranlable à jamais.
Who establishes the earth on her sure foundation: it shall not be moved for ever.
6 Tu l'avais couverte de l'abîme comme d'un vêtement; les eaux se tenaient sur les montagnes.
The deep, as it were a garment, is his covering: the waters shall stand on the hills.
7 A ta menace, elles se retirèrent; au bruit de ton tonnerre, elles s'enfuirent.
At your rebuke they shall flee; at the voice of your thunder they shall be alarmed.
8 Les montagnes s'élevèrent, les vallées s'abaissèrent au lieu que tu leur avais assigné.
They go up to the mountains, and down to the plains, to the place which you have founded for them.
9 Tu as fixé pour les eaux une borne qu'elles ne passeront pas; elles ne reviendront pas couvrir la terre.
You have set a bound which they shall not pass, neither shall they turn again to cover the earth.
10 Il envoie des sources dans les vallées, et elles courent entre les montagnes.
He sends forth his fountains among the valleys: the waters shall run between the mountains.
11 Elles abreuvent toutes les bêtes des champs; les ânes sauvages y étanchent leur soif.
They shall give drink to all the wild beasts of the field: the wild asses shall take [of them] to [quench] their thirst.
12 Les oiseaux habitent sur leurs bords, faisant résonner leur voix dans le feuillage.
By them shall the birds of the sky lodge: they shall utter a voice out of the midst of the rocks.
13 De sa haute demeure, il abreuve les montagnes; la terre est rassasiée du fruit de tes œuvres.
He waters the mountains from his chambers: the earth shall be satisfied with the fruit of your works.
14 Il fait germer le foin pour le bétail et l'herbe pour le service de l'homme, faisant sortir la nourriture de la terre;
He makes grass to grow for the cattle, and green herb for the service of men, to bring bread out of the earth;
15 Et le vin qui réjouit le cœur de l'homme et fait resplendir son visage plus que l'huile; et le pain qui soutient le cœur de l'homme.
and wine makes glad the heart of man, to make his face cheerful with oil: and bread strengthens man's heart.
16 Les arbres de l'Éternel sont rassasiés, les cèdres du Liban qu'il a plantés.
The trees of the plain shall be full [of sap]; [even] the cedars of Libanus which he has planted.
17 C'est là que les oiseaux font leurs nids; les cyprès sont la demeure de la cigogne;
There the sparrows will build their nests; and the house of the heron takes the lead among them.
18 Les hautes montagnes sont pour les bouquetins; les rochers sont la retraite des lapins.
The high mountains are a refuge for the stags, [and] the rock for the rabbits.
19 Il a fait la lune pour marquer les temps; le soleil connaît son coucher.
He appointed the moon for seasons: the sun knows his going down.
20 Tu amènes les ténèbres, et la nuit vient, où toutes les bêtes des forêts se promènent.
You did make darkness, and it was night; in it all the wild beasts of the forest will be abroad:
21 Les lionceaux rugissent après la proie, et pour demander à Dieu leur pâture.
[even] young lions roaring for prey, and to seek meat for themselves from God.
22 Le soleil se lève; ils se retirent, et se couchent dans leurs tanières.
The sun arises, and they shall be gathered together, and shall lie down in their dens.
23 Alors l'homme sort à son ouvrage, et à son travail jusqu'au soir.
Man shall go forth to his work, and to his labor till evening.
24 O Éternel, que tes œuvres sont en grand nombre! Tu les as toutes faites avec sagesse; la terre est pleine de tes richesses.
How great are your works, O Lord! in wisdom have you wrought them all: the earth is filled with your creation.
25 Et cette grande et vaste mer! Là sont des animaux sans nombre, gros et petits.
[So is] this great and wide sea: there are things creeping innumerable, small animals and great.
26 Là se promènent les navires, et ce Léviathan que tu as formé pour s'y jouer.
There go the ships; [and] this dragon whom you have made to play in it.
27 Tous, ils s'attendent à toi, pour que tu leur donnes leur nourriture en son temps.
All wait upon you, to give them [their] food in due season.
28 Tu la leur donnes, et ils la recueillent; tu ouvres ta main, et ils sont rassasiés de biens.
When you have given [it] them, they will gather [it]; and when you have opened your hand, they shall all be filled with good.
29 Caches-tu ta face? ils sont éperdus; retires-tu leur souffle? ils expirent, et retournent en leur poussière.
But when you have turned away your face, they shall be troubled: you will take away their breath, and they shall fail, and return to their dust.
30 Envoies-tu ton esprit? ils sont créés, et tu renouvelles la face de la terre.
You shall send forth your Spirit, and they shall be created; and you shall renew the face of the earth.
31 Que la gloire de l'Éternel dure à toujours! Que l'Éternel se réjouisse dans ses œuvres!
Let the glory of the Lord be for ever: the Lord shall rejoice in his works;
32 Il regarde la terre et elle tremble; il touche les montagnes et elles fument.
who looks upon the earth, and makes it tremble; who touches the mountains, and they smoke.
33 Je chanterai à l'Éternel tant que je vivrai; je psalmodierai à mon Dieu tant que j'existerai.
I will sing to the Lord while I live; I will sing praise to my God while I exist.
34 Que ma méditation lui soit agréable! Je me réjouirai en l'Éternel.
Let my meditation be sweet to him: and I will rejoice in the Lord.
35 Que les pécheurs disparaissent de la terre, et que les méchants ne soient plus! Mon âme, bénis l'Éternel! Louez l'Éternel!
Let the sinners fail from off the earth, and transgressors, so that they shall be no more. Bless the Lord, O my soul.
