Proverbes 3
1 Mon fils, n'oublie point mon enseignement, et que ton cœur garde mes commandements.
Mi sone, foryete thou not my lawe; and thyn herte kepe my comaundementis.
2 Car ils t'apporteront de longs jours, et des années de vie, et la prospérité.
For tho schulen sette to thee the lengthe of daies, and the yeeris of lijf, and pees.
3 Que la miséricorde et la vérité ne t'abandonnent point; lie-les à ton cou, écris-les sur la table de ton cœur;
Merci and treuthe forsake thee not; bynde thou tho to thi throte, and write in the tablis of thin herte.
4 Et tu obtiendras la grâce et une grande sagesse aux yeux de Dieu et des hommes.
And thou schalt fynde grace, and good teching bifore God and men.
5 Confie-toi en l'Éternel de tout ton cœur, et ne t'appuie point sur ta prudence.
Haue thou trist in the Lord, of al thin herte; and triste thou not to thi prudence.
6 Considère-le dans toutes tes voies, et il dirigera tes sentiers.
In alle thi weies thenke thou on hym, and he schal dresse thi goyngis.
7 Ne sois point sage à tes propres yeux; crains l'Éternel, et détourne-toi du mal.
Be thou not wijs anentis thi silf; drede thou God, and go awei fro yuel.
8 Ce sera la santé pour tes muscles et un rafraîchissement pour tes os.
For whi helthe schal be in thi nawle, and moisting of thi boonys.
9 Honore l'Éternel de ton bien, et des prémices de tout ton revenu;
Onoure thou the Lord of thi catel, and of the beste of alle thi fruytis yyue thou to pore men;
10 Et tes greniers seront remplis d'abondance, et tes cuves regorgeront de moût.
and thi bernes schulen be fillid with abundaunce, and pressours schulen flowe with wiyn.
11 Mon fils, ne rejette point la correction de l'Éternel, et ne perds pas courage de ce qu'il te reprend;
My sone, caste thou not awei the teching of the Lord; and faile thou not, whanne thou art chastisid of him.
12 Car l'Éternel châtie celui qu'il aime, comme un père l'enfant qu'il chérit.
For the Lord chastisith hym, whom he loueth; and as a fadir in the sone he plesith hym.
13 Heureux l'homme qui a trouvé la sagesse, et l'homme qui avance dans l'intelligence!
Blessid is the man that fyndith wisdom, and which flowith with prudence.
14 Car il vaut mieux l'acquérir que de gagner de l'argent, et le revenu qu'on en peut tirer vaut mieux que l'or fin.
The geting therof is betere than the marchaundie of gold and of siluer; the fruytis therof ben the firste and clenneste.
15 Elle est plus précieuse que les perles, et toutes les choses désirables ne la valent pas.
It is preciousere than alle richessis; and alle thingis that ben desirid, moun not be comparisound to this.
16 Il y a de longs jours dans sa droite, des richesses et de la gloire dans sa gauche.
Lengthe of daies is in the riythalf therof, and richessis and glorie ben in the lifthalf therof.
17 Ses voies sont des voies agréables, et tous ses sentiers conduisent à la paix.
The weies therof ben feire weies, and alle the pathis therof ben pesible.
18 Elle est l'arbre de vie pour ceux qui l'embrassent, et tous ceux qui la conservent sont rendus bienheureux.
It is a tre of lijf to hem that taken it; and he that holdith it, is blessid.
19 L'Éternel a fondé la terre par la sagesse, et agencé les cieux par l'intelligence.
The Lord foundide the erthe bi wisdom; he stablischide heuenes bi prudence.
20 C'est par sa science que les abîmes s'ouvrent, et que les nuées distillent la rosée.
The depthis of watris braken out bi his wisdom; and cloudis wexen togidere bi dewe.
21 Mon fils, qu'elles ne s'écartent point de devant tes yeux; garde la sagesse et la prudence,
My sone, these thingis flete not awey fro thin iyen; kepe thou my lawe, and my counsel;
22 Et elles seront la vie de ton âme, et un ornement à ton cou.
and lijf schal be to thi soule, and grace `schal be to thi chekis.
23 Alors tu marcheras en assurance par ton chemin, et ton pied ne heurtera point.
Thanne thou schalt go tristili in thi weie; and thi foot schal not snapere.
24 Si tu te couches, tu n'auras point de frayeur; et quand tu seras couché, ton sommeil sera doux.
If thou schalt slepe, thou schalt not drede; thou schalt reste, and thi sleep schal be soft.
25 Ne crains point la frayeur soudaine, ni l'attaque des méchants, quand elle arrivera.
Drede thou not bi sudeyne feer, and the powers of wickid men fallynge in on thee.
26 Car l'Éternel sera ton espérance, et il gardera ton pied du piège.
For the Lord schal be at thi side; and he schal kepe thi foot, that thou be not takun.
27 Ne refuse pas un bienfait à celui qui en a besoin, quand il est en ton pouvoir de l'accorder.
Nil thou forbede to do wel him that mai; if thou maist, and do thou wel.
28 Ne dis point à ton prochain: Va et reviens, et je te donnerai demain; quand tu as de quoi donner.
Seie thou not to thi frend, Go, and turne thou ayen, and to morewe Y schal yyue to thee; whanne thou maist yyue anoon.
29 Ne machine point de mal contre ton prochain qui habite en assurance avec toi.
Ymagyne thou not yuel to thi freend, whanne he hath trist in thee.
30 N'aie point de procès sans sujet avec personne, lorsqu'on ne t'a fait aucun mal.
Stryue thou not ayens a man with out cause, whanne he doith noon yuel to thee.
31 Ne porte pas envie à l'homme violent, et ne choisis aucune de ses voies.
Sue thou not an vniust man, sue thou not hise weies.
32 Car celui qui va de travers est en abomination à l'Éternel; mais il est l'ami de ceux qui sont droits.
For ech disseyuer is abhomynacioun of the Lord; and his speking is with simple men.
33 La malédiction de l'Éternel est dans la maison du méchant; mais il bénit la demeure des justes.
Nedinesse is sent of the Lord in the hous of a wickid man; but the dwelling places of iust men schulen be blessid.
34 Il se moque des moqueurs; mais il fait grâce aux humbles.
He schal scorne scorneris; and he schal yyue grace to mylde men.
35 Les sages hériteront la gloire; mais l'ignominie accablera les insensés.
Wise men schulen haue glorie; enhaunsing of foolis is schenschipe.
