Proverbes 2

1 Mon fils, si tu reçois mes paroles, et si tu conserves avec toi mes commandements,

My sonne, if thou wilt receiue my wordes, and hide my commandements within thee,

2 Tellement que tu rendes ton oreille attentive à la sagesse, et que tu inclines ton cœur à l'intelligence;

And cause thine eares to hearken vnto wisdome, and encline thine heart to vnderstanding,

3 Si tu appelles à toi la prudence, et si tu adresses ta voix à l'intelligence;

(For if thou callest after knowledge, and cryest for vnderstanding:

4 Si tu la cherches comme de l'argent, et si tu la recherches soigneusement comme un trésor;

If thou seekest her as siluer, and searchest for her as for treasures,

5 Alors tu comprendras la crainte de l'Éternel, et tu trouveras la connaissance de Dieu.

Then shalt thou vnderstand the feare of the Lord, and finde the knowledge of God.

6 Car l'Éternel donne la sagesse; de sa bouche procèdent la connaissance et l'intelligence.

For the Lord giueth wisdome, out of his mouth commeth knowledge and vnderstanding.

7 Il réserve le salut à ceux qui sont droits, et il est le bouclier de ceux qui marchent en intégrité,

He preserueth the state of the righteous: he is a shielde to them that walke vprightly,

8 Pour suivre les sentiers de la justice. Il gardera la voie de ses bien-aimés.

That they may keepe the wayes of iudgement: and he preserueth the way of his Saintes)

9 Alors tu connaîtras la justice, et le jugement, et l'équité, et tout bon chemin.

Then shalt thou vnderstand righteousnes, and iudgement, and equitie, and euery good path.

10 Car la sagesse viendra dans ton cœur, et la connaissance sera agréable à ton âme;

When wisdome entreth into thine heart, and knowledge deliteth thy soule,

11 La prudence veillera sur toi, et l'intelligence te gardera;

Then shall counsell preserue thee, and vnderstanding shall keepe thee,

12 Pour te délivrer du mauvais chemin, et de l'homme qui parle avec perversité;

And deliuer thee from the euill way, and from the man that speaketh froward things,

13 De ceux qui abandonnent les chemins de la droiture, pour marcher dans les voies des ténèbres;

And from them that leaue the wayes of righteousnes to walke in the wayes of darkenes:

14 Qui se réjouissent de mal faire et qui prennent plaisir dans les égarements du méchant;

Which reioyce in doing euill, and delite in the frowardnesse of the wicked,

15 Dont les chemins sont détournés, et qui suivent des voies tortueuses.

Whose wayes are crooked and they are lewde in their paths.

16 Tu seras aussi délivré de la femme étrangère, et de la femme d'autrui, dont les paroles sont flatteuses;

And it shall deliuer thee from the strange woman, euen from the stranger, which flattereth with her wordes.

17 Qui a abandonné le compagnon de sa jeunesse, et qui a oublié l'alliance de son Dieu.

Which forsaketh the guide of her youth, and forgetteth the couenant of her God.

18 Car sa maison penche vers la mort, son chemin mène chez les morts.

Surely her house tendeth to death, and her paths vnto the dead.

19 Pas un de ceux qui vont vers elle n'en revient, ni ne retrouve les sentiers de la vie.

All they that goe vnto her, returne not againe, neither take they holde of the wayes of life.

20 Ainsi tu marcheras dans la voie des gens de bien, tu garderas les sentiers des justes.

Therefore walke thou in the way of good men, and keepe the wayes of the righteous.

21 Car ceux qui sont droits habiteront la terre, et les hommes intègres y subsisteront.

For the iust shall dwell in the land, and the vpright men shall remaine in it.

22 Mais les méchants seront retranchés de la terre, et ceux qui agissent perfidement, en seront arrachés.

But the wicked shalbe cut off from ye earth, and the transgressours shalbe rooted out of it.
