1 L'Éternel parla aussi à Moïse, en disant:
Adonai spoke to Moses [Drawn out], saying,
2 Parle à Aaron, et dis-lui: Quand tu allumeras les lampes, les sept lampes éclaireront sur le devant du chandelier.
“Speak to Aaron [Light-bringer], and tell him, ‘When you light the menorah ·lamp· candles, the seven menorah ·lamp· candles shall give light in front of the menorah ·lamp·.’”
3 Et Aaron fit ainsi, il alluma les lampes sur le devant du chandelier, comme l'Éternel l'avait commandé à Moïse.
Aaron [Light-bringer] did so. He lit its menorah ·lamp· candles to light the area in front of the menorah ·lamp·, as Adonai enjoined Moses [Drawn out].
4 Or, voici comment était fait le chandelier: il était d'or, fait au marteau; jusqu'à son pied, jusqu'à ses fleurs, il était fait au marteau. On fit ainsi le chandelier selon le modèle que l'Éternel avait fait voir à Moïse.
This was the workmanship of the menorah ·lamp·, beaten work of gold. From its base to its flowers, it was beaten work: according to the pattern which Adonai had shown Moses [Drawn out], so he made the menorah ·lamp·.
5 Puis l'Éternel parla à Moïse, en disant:
Adonai spoke to Moses [Drawn out], saying,
6 Prends les Lévites d'entre les enfants d'Israël, et purifie-les.
“Take the Levites [Descendants of United with] from among the children of Israel [God prevails], and cleanse them.
7 Tu leur feras ainsi pour les purifier: Fais sur eux aspersion de l'eau de purification pour le péché; ils feront passer le rasoir sur toute leur chair, laveront leurs vêtements, et se purifieront.
You shall do this to them, to cleanse them: sprinkle the water of habitual sin ·missing the mark· cleansing on them, let them shave their whole bodies with a razor, and let them wash their clothes, and cleanse themselves.
8 Puis ils prendront un jeune taureau, avec son offrande de fine farine pétrie à l'huile; et tu prendras un second jeune taureau, pour le sacrifice pour le péché.
Then let them take a young bull, and its meal offering, fine flour mixed with oil; and another young bull you shall take for a habitual sin ·miss the mark· offering.
9 Alors tu feras approcher les Lévites devant le tabernacle d'assignation, et tu convoqueras toute l'assemblée des enfants d'Israël.
You shall present the Levites [Descendants of United with] before the Tent of Meeting. You shall assemble the whole congregation of the children of Israel [God prevails].
10 Tu feras donc approcher les Lévites devant l'Éternel, et les enfants d'Israël appuieront leurs mains sur les Lévites,
You shall present the Levites [Descendants of United with] before Adonai. The children of Israel [God prevails] shall lay their hands on the Levites [Descendants of United with],
11 Et Aaron présentera les Lévites en offrande devant l'Éternel, de la part des enfants d'Israël, et ils seront employés à faire le service de l'Éternel.
and Aaron [Light-bringer] shall offer the Levites [Descendants of United with] before Adonai for a wave offering, on the behalf of the children of Israel [God prevails], that it may be theirs to do the service of Adonai.
12 Puis les Lévites appuieront leurs mains sur la tête des jeunes taureaux; et tu offriras l'un en sacrifice pour le péché, et l'autre en holocauste à l'Éternel, pour faire expiation pour les Lévites.
“The Levites [Descendants of United with] shall lay their hands on the heads of the bulls, and you shall offer the one for a habitual sin ·miss the mark· offering, and the other for a burnt offering to Adonai, to make atonement for the Levites [Descendants of United with].
13 Ensuite tu feras tenir les Lévites debout devant Aaron et devant ses fils, et tu les présenteras en offrande à l'Éternel.
You shall set the Levites [Descendants of United with] before Aaron [Light-bringer], and before his sons, and offer them as a wave offering to Adonai.
14 Ainsi tu sépareras les Lévites d'entre les enfants d'Israël, et les Lévites seront à moi.
Thus you shall separate the Levites [Descendants of United with] from among the children of Israel [God prevails], and the Levites [Descendants of United with] shall be mine.
15 Après cela, les Lévites viendront pour faire le service du tabernacle d'assignation. Tu les purifieras donc, et tu les présenteras en offrande.
“After that, the Levites [Descendants of United with] shall go in to do the service of the Tent of Meeting: and you shall cleanse them, and offer them as a wave offering.
16 Car ils me sont entièrement donnés d'entre les enfants d'Israël; je les ai pris pour moi, à la place de tous ceux qui naissent les premiers, de tous les premiers-nés d'entre les enfants d'Israël.
For they are wholly given to me from among the children of Israel [God prevails]; instead of all who open the womb, even the firstborn of all the children of Israel [God prevails], I have taken them to me.
17 Car tout premier-né parmi les enfants d'Israël est à moi, parmi les hommes et parmi les bêtes; je me les suis consacrés au jour où je frappai tous les premiers-nés dans le pays d'Égypte.
For all the firstborn among the children of Israel [God prevails] are mine, both man and animal. On the day that I struck all the firstborn in the land of Egypt [Abode of slavery], I sanctified them for myself.
18 Et j'ai pris les Lévites à la place de tous les premiers-nés des enfants d'Israël.
I have taken the Levites [Descendants of United with] instead of all the firstborn among the children of Israel [God prevails].
19 Et j'ai donné les Lévites entièrement à Aaron et à ses fils, d'entre les enfants d'Israël, pour faire le service des enfants d'Israël dans le tabernacle d'assignation, et pour faire expiation pour les enfants d'Israël, afin qu'il n'y ait point de plaie parmi les enfants d'Israël, quand ils s'approcheront du sanctuaire.
I have given the Levites [Descendants of United with] as a gift to Aaron [Light-bringer] and to his sons from among the children of Israel [God prevails], to do the service of the children of Israel [God prevails] in the Tent of Meeting, and to make atonement for the children of Israel [God prevails]; that there be no plague among the children of Israel [God prevails], when the children of Israel [God prevails] come near to the sanctuary.”
20 Moïse, Aaron et toute l'assemblée des enfants d'Israël firent donc, à l'égard des Lévites, selon tout ce que l' Éternel avait commandé à Moïse touchant les Lévites; les enfants d'Israël firent ainsi à leur égard.
Moses [Drawn out], and Aaron [Light-bringer], and all the congregation of the children of Israel [God prevails] did so to the Levites [Descendants of United with]. According to all that Adonai enjoined Moses [Drawn out] concerning the Levites [Descendants of United with], so the children of Israel [God prevails] did to them.
21 Les Lévites se purifièrent donc, et lavèrent leurs vêtements; et Aaron les présenta en offrande devant l'Éternel, et il fit expiation pour eux afin de les purifier.
The Levites [Descendants of United with] cleansed sin ·err (the standard goal)· from themselves from sin, and they washed their clothes; and Aaron [Light-bringer] offered them for a wave offering before Adonai; and Aaron [Light-bringer] made atonement for them to cleanse them.
22 Après cela, les Lévites vinrent pour faire leur service dans le tabernacle d'assignation devant Aaron et devant ses fils. On fit à l'égard des Lévites comme l'Éternel avait commandé à Moïse à leur sujet.
After that, the Levites [Descendants of United with] went in to do their service in the Tent of Meeting before Aaron [Light-bringer], and before his sons: as Adonai had enjoined Moses [Drawn out] concerning the Levites [Descendants of United with], so they did to them.
23 Puis l'Éternel parla à Moïse, en disant:
Adonai spoke to Moses [Drawn out], saying,
24 Voici ce qui concerne les Lévites: Depuis l'âge de vingt-cinq ans et au-dessus, le Lévite viendra prendre rang dans les services du tabernacle d'assignation.
“This is that which belongs to the Levites [Descendants of United with]: from twenty-five years old and upward they shall go in to wait on the service in the work of the Tent of Meeting;
25 Mais depuis l'âge de cinquante ans, il sortira du service et ne servira plus;
and from the age of fifty years they shall cease waiting on the work, and shall serve no more,
26 Il assistera ses frères dans le tabernacle d'assignation, en gardant ce qui leur est confié; mais il ne fera plus de service. Tu feras ainsi à l'égard des Lévites, pour ce qui concerne leurs fonctions.
but shall minister with their brothers in the Tent of Meeting, to perform the duty, and shall do no service. You shall do thus to the Levites [Descendants of United with] concerning their duties.”
