Matthieu 15
1 Alors des scribes et des pharisiens vinrent de Jérusalem à Jésus, et lui dirent:
Then, there come unto Jesus from Jerusalem Pharisees and Scribes, saying—
2 Pourquoi tes disciples transgressent-ils la tradition des anciens? car ils ne se lavent point les mains lorsqu'ils prennent leurs repas.
Wherefore do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands, when they eat bread!
3 Mais il leur répondit: Et vous, pourquoi transgressez-vous le commandement de Dieu par votre tradition?
But, he, answering, said unto them—Wherefore do, ye also, transgress the commandment of God for the sake of your tradition?
4 Car Dieu a donné ce commandement: Honore ton père et ta mère; et: Que celui qui maudira son père ou sa mère soit puni de mort.
For, God, said—Honour thy father and thy mother, and—He that revileth father or mother, let him, surely die!
5 Mais vous, vous dites: Celui qui aura dit à son père ou à sa mère: Ce dont je pourrais t'assister est un don consacré à Dieu, n'est pas tenu d'honorer son père ou sa mère.
But, ye, say—Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother—A gift! Whatsoever, out of me, thou mightest be profited,
6 Et ainsi vous avez anéanti le commandement de Dieu par votre tradition.
in nowise, shall honour his father or his mother—and so ye have cancelled, the word of God, for the sake of your, tradition.
7 Hypocrites! Ésaïe a bien prophétisé à votre sujet, lorsqu'il a dit:
Hypocrites! well prophesied concerning you, Isaiah, saying—
8 Ce peuple s'approche de moi de la bouche et m'honore des lèvres; mais leur cœur est bien éloigné de moi.
This people, with the lips, do, honour, me, while, their heart, far off, holdeth from me;
9 Mais ils m'honorent en vain, en enseignant des doctrines qui sont des commandements d'hommes.
But, in vain, do they pay devotions unto me, teaching, for teachings, the commandments of men.
10 Et ayant appelé le peuple, il leur dit:
And, calling near the multitude, he said to them—Hear and understand!
11 Écoutez, et comprenez ceci: Ce n'est pas ce qui entre dans la bouche qui souille l'homme; mais ce qui sort de la bouche, c'est ce qui souille l'homme.
Not that which entereth into the mouth, defileth the man, but, that which proceedeth out of the mouth, the same, defileth the man,
12 Alors ses disciples, s'approchant, lui dirent: N'as-tu pas remarqué que les pharisiens ont été scandalisés quand ils ont entendu ce discours?
Then, coming near, his disciples say unto him—Knowest thou, that the Pharisees, hearing the word, were caused to stumble?
13 Mais il répondit: Toute plante que mon Père céleste n'a point plantée, sera déracinée.
And, he, answering, said—Every plant which my heavenly Father hath not planted, will be uprooted:
14 Laissez-les; ce sont des aveugles qui conduisent des aveugles; que si un aveugle conduit un autre aveugle, ils tomberont tous deux dans la fosse.
Let them alone! they are, blind leaders; and, if the, blind, lead the, blind, both, into a ditch, will fall.
15 Alors Pierre, prenant la parole, lui dit: Explique-nous cette parabole.
And Peter, answering, said unto him, Declare to us the parable.
16 Et Jésus dit: Vous aussi, êtes-vous encore sans intelligence?
And, he, said, To this moment, are, ye also, without discernment?
17 Ne comprenez-vous pas que tout ce qui entre dans la bouche, s'en va dans le ventre et est jeté aux lieux secrets?
Perceive ye not that, every thing which entereth into the mouth, into the stomach, findeth way, and, into the draught, is passed;
18 Mais ce qui sort de la bouche vient du cœur; c'est là ce qui souille l'homme.
while, the things which proceed out of the mouth, out of the heart, come forth, and, they, defile the man.
19 Car c'est du cœur que viennent les mauvaises pensées, les meurtres, les adultères, les fornications, les larcins, les faux témoignages, les blasphèmes.
For, out of the heart, come forth wicked designs, —murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false testimonies, profane speakings:
20 Ce sont ces choses-là qui souillent l'homme; mais de manger sans s'être lavé les mains, cela ne souille point l'homme.
these, are the things which defile the man, but, the eating with unwashed hands, doth not defile the man.
21 Et Jésus, partant de là, se retira dans les quartiers de Tyr et de Sidon.
And, going forth from thence, Jesus retired into the parts of Tyre and Zidon.
22 Et une femme cananéenne, qui venait de ces quartiers, s'écria, et lui dit: Seigneur, fils de David! aie pitié de moi! ma fille est misérablement tourmentée par le démon.
And lo! a Canaanite woman, from those bounds, coming forth, began crying out, saying, Have mercy on me, Lord, Son of David! My daughter, is miserably demonized.
23 Mais il ne lui répondit rien. Et ses disciples, s'étant approchés, le prièrent, en disant: Renvoie-la, car elle crie après nous.
But, he, answered her no a word. And his disciples, coming forward began requesting him, saying—Dismiss her, because she is crying out after us.
24 Et il répondit: Je ne suis envoyé qu'aux brebis perdues de la maison d'Israël.
But, he, answering, said, I was not sent forth, save unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
25 Mais elle vint, et se prosterna, en disant: Seigneur! aide-moi.
And, she, coming, began bowing down to him, saying, Lord! help me.
26 Il lui répondit: Il n'est pas juste de prendre le pain des enfants pour le jeter aux petits chiens.
But, he, answering, said, It is, not seemly, to take the loaf of, the children, and cast, to the little dogs.
27 Mais elle dit: Il est vrai, Seigneur! cependant les petits chiens mangent des miettes qui tombent de la table de leurs maîtres.
And, she, said, True, Lord! [for], even the little dogs, eat of the crumbs which are falling from the table of, their masters.
28 Alors Jésus, répondant, lui dit: O femme! ta foi est grande; qu'il te soit fait comme tu le désires. Et à cette heure même sa fille fut guérie.
Then, answering, Jesus said to her—O woman! great, is, thy faith! Be it, done, for thee, as thou desirest. And her daughter was healed, from that hour.
29 Jésus, partant de là, vint près de la mer de Galilée; et, étant monté sur une montagne, il s'y assit.
And, passing on from thence, Jesus came near the sea of Galilee, and, going up into the mountain, was sitting there.
30 Alors une grande multitude de peuple vint à lui, ayant avec eux des boiteux, des aveugles, des muets, des estropiés, et plusieurs autres malades. Ils les mirent aux pieds de Jésus, et il les guérit.
And there came unto him large multitudes, having with themselves the lame, the maimed, the blind, the dumb, and many others, —and they cast them near his feet, and he cured them;
31 De sorte que le peuple était dans l'admiration, voyant que les muets parlaient, que les estropiés étaient guéris, que les boiteux marchaient, que les aveugles voyaient; et ils glorifiaient le Dieu d'Israël.
so that the multitude marvelled, seeing the dumb speaking, the lame walking, and the blind seeing, —and they glorified the God of Israel.
32 Alors Jésus, ayant appelé ses disciples, leur dit: J'ai pitié de cette multitude; car il y a déjà trois jours qu'ils ne me quittent point, et ils n'ont rien à manger; et je ne veux pas les renvoyer à jeun, de peur que les forces ne leur manquent en chemin.
But, Jesus, calling near his disciples, said—My compassions are moved towards the multitude, because [even now], three days, abide they with me, and they have nothing to eat, —and, to dismiss them fasting, I am not willing, lest by any means they faint in the way.
33 Et ses disciples lui dirent: D'où pourrions-nous avoir, dans ce lieu désert, assez de pain pour rassasier une telle multitude?
And his disciples say unto him—Whence, to us, in a wilderness, loaves in such numbers as to fill a multitude, so great?
34 Et Jésus leur dit: Combien avez-vous de pains? Ils dirent: Sept et quelques petits poissons.
And Jesus saith unto them—How many, loaves have ye? And, they, said, —Seven, and a few small fishes.
35 Alors il commanda aux foules de s'asseoir à terre.
And, sending word to the multitude to recline upon the ground,
36 Et ayant pris les sept pains et les poissons, et ayant rendu grâces, il les rompit et les donna à ses disciples, et les disciples les donnèrent au peuple.
he took the seven loaves, and the fishes, and, giving thanks, brake, —and began giving to his disciples, and, the disciples, to the multitudes.
37 Et tous en mangèrent et furent rassasiés; et on emporta sept corbeilles pleines des morceaux qui restèrent.
And they all did eat and were filled, —and, the remainder of the broken pieces, took they up, seven hampers, full.
38 Or, ceux qui en avaient mangé étaient quatre mille hommes, sans compter les femmes et les petits enfants.
And, they who did eat, were four thousand men, besides women and children.
39 Alors Jésus, ayant renvoyé le peuple, entra dans une barque, et il vint au territoire de Magdala.
And, dismissing the multitudes, he went up into the boat, —and came into the bounds of Magadan.
