Job 12
1 Et Job prit la parole, et dit:
Sotheli Joob answeride, and seide,
2 Vraiment, vous êtes tout un peuple, et avec vous mourra la sagesse!
Therfor ben ye men aloone, that wisdom dwelle with you?
3 J'ai pourtant du sens aussi bien que vous, je ne vous suis point inférieur; et qui ne sait de telles choses?
And to me is an herte, as and to you, and Y am not lowere than ye; for who knowith not these thingis, whiche ye knowen?
4 Je suis un homme qui est en risée à son ami; un homme qui invoquait Dieu, et Dieu lui répondait! En risée! un homme juste, intègre!
He that is scorned of his frend, as Y am, schal inwardli clepe God, and God schal here hym; for the symplenesse of a iust man is scorned.
5 Mépris au malheur! telle est la pensée des heureux; le mépris est réservé à ceux dont le pied chancelle!
A laumpe is dispisid at the thouytis of riche men, and the laumpe is maad redi to a tyme ordeyned.
6 Elles sont en paix, les tentes des pillards, et toutes les sécurités sont pour ceux qui irritent Dieu, qui se font un dieu de leur bras.
The tabernaclis of robberis ben plenteuouse, `ether ful of goodis; and boldli thei terren God to wraththe, whanne he hath youe alle thingis in to her hondis.
7 Mais interroge donc les bêtes, et elles t'instruiront; ou les oiseaux des cieux, et ils te l'annonceront;
No wondur, ax thou beestis, and tho schulen teche thee; and axe thou volatilis of the eir, and tho schulen schewe to thee.
8 Ou parle à la terre, et elle t'instruira; et les poissons de la mer te le raconteront.
Speke thou to the erthe, and it schal answere thee; and the fischis of the see schulen telle tho thingis.
9 Qui ne sait, parmi tous ces êtres, que la main de Dieu a fait cet univers?
Who knowith not that the hond of the Lord made alle these thingis?
10 Qu'il tient en sa main l'âme de tous les vivants, l'esprit de toute chair d'homme?
In whos hond the soule is of ech lyuynge thing, and the spirit, `that is, resonable soule, of ech fleisch of man.
11 L'oreille ne juge-t-elle pas des discours, comme le palais goûte les aliments?
Whether the eere demeth not wordis, and the chekis of the etere demen sauour?
12 La sagesse est dans les vieillards, et le discernement est le fruit des longs jours!
Wisdom is in elde men, and prudence is in myche tyme.
13 Non, c'est en Dieu que se trouvent la sagesse et la force; c'est à lui qu'appartiennent le conseil et l'intelligence.
Wisdom and strengthe is at God; he hath counsel and vndurstondyng.
14 Voici, il démolit, et on ne rebâtit point; il enferme quelqu'un, et on ne lui ouvre pas.
If he distrieth, no man is that bildith; if he schittith in a man, `noon is that openith.
15 Voici, il retient les eaux, et elles tarissent; il les lâche, et elles bouleversent la terre.
If he holdith togidere watris, alle thingis schulen be maad drie; if he sendith out tho watris, tho schulen distrie the erthe.
16 En lui résident la puissance et la sagesse; de lui dépendent celui qui s'égare et celui qui égare.
Strengthe and wisdom is at God; he knowith bothe hym that disseyueth and hym that is disseyued.
17 Il fait marcher pieds nus les conseillers; il frappe de folie les juges.
And he bryngith conselours in to a fonned eende, and iugis in to wondryng, ethir astonying.
18 Il relâche l'autorité des rois, et il serre la corde sur leurs reins.
He vnbindith the girdil of kyngis, and girdith her reynes with a coorde.
19 Il fait marcher pieds nus les prêtres, et il renverse les puissants.
He ledith her prestis with out glorie, and he disseyueth the principal men, `ethir counselours;
20 Il ôte la parole aux plus assurés, et il prive de sens les vieillards.
and he chaungith the lippis of sothefast men, and takith awei the doctrine of elde men.
21 Il verse le mépris sur les nobles, et il délie la ceinture des forts.
He schedith out dispisyng on princes, and releeueth hem, that weren oppressid.
22 Il met en évidence les profondeurs cachées dans les ténèbres, et il amène à la lumière l'ombre de la mort.
Which schewith depe thingis fro derknessis; and bryngith forth in to liyt the schadewe of deeth.
23 Il agrandit les nations, et il les perd; il étend les nations, et il les conduit en captivité.
Which multiplieth folkis, and leesith hem, and restorith hem destried in to the hool.
24 Il ôte le sens aux chefs des peuples de la terre, et il les fait errer dans un désert sans chemin.
Which chaungith the herte of princes of the puple of erthe; and disseyueth hem, that thei go in veyn out of the weie.
25 Ils tâtonnent dans les ténèbres, sans aucune clarté, et il les fait errer comme un homme ivre.
Thei schulen grope, as in derknessis, and not in liyt; and he schal make hem to erre as drunken men.
