Isaïe 66
1 Ainsi a dit l'Éternel: Le ciel est mon trône, et la terre mon marchepied. Quelle maison me bâtirez-vous? Quel lieu sera celui de mon repos?
Thus, saith Yahweh, The, heavens, are my throne, and The earth, is my footstool: Where then is the house which ye can build me? Or where is my place of rest?
2 Car toutes ces choses, ma main les a faites, et toutes ces choses existent par elle, dit l'Éternel. Et voici à qui je regarde: à celui qui est humble, qui a l'esprit abattu, et qui tremble à ma parole.
For, all these things, hath mine own hand made, And all these things came into being, —Declareth Yahweh. But for this one, will I look around, For him who is humbled and smitten in spirit, And so careth anxiously for my word.
3 Égorger un bœuf est comme tuer un homme; sacrifier une brebis, comme abattre un chien; présenter une offrande, comme répandre le sang d'un pourceau; faire un parfum d'encens, comme bénir une idole. Puisqu'ils ont choisi leurs voies et que leur âme prend plaisir à leurs abominations,
He that slaughtereth an ox, [is as one] who smiteth a man, He that sacrificeth a lamb, [is as one] who beheadeth a dog, he that causeth a meal-offering to ascend, offereth it with the blood of swine, He that maketh a memorial of frankincense, [is as one] who blesseth iniquity: They indeed, have chosen their own ways, And in their own abominations, their soul hath found delight;
4 Moi aussi, je choisirai leur ruine, et je ferai venir sur eux ce qu'ils redoutent; parce que j'ai appelé et nul n'a répondu, j'ai parlé et ils n'ont point écouté, mais ils ont fait ce qui est mal à mes yeux, et ils ont choisi ce qui me déplaît.
I, also, will choose the things that vex them. And the things they dread, will I bring upon them, Because—I called and there was none to answer, I spake, and they hearkened not, —But did that which was wicked in mine eyes, And of that wherein I delighted not, made choice.
5 Écoutez la parole de l'Éternel, vous qui tremblez à sa parole. Vos frères qui vous haïssent, et qui vous rejettent, à cause de mon nom, ont dit: Que l'Éternel montre sa gloire, et que nous voyions votre joie! Mais ils seront confondus.
Hear the word of Yahweh, ye who care anxiously for his word: Said your brethren Who hated you. Who thrust you out for my Name’s sake, Yahweh be glorified! Therefore shall he appear to your rejoicing, But, they, shall turn pale.
6 Une voix éclatante vient de la ville, une voix vient du temple, la voix de l'Éternel, qui rend à ses ennemis leur salaire.
The sound of a tumult—out of the city, A sound, out of the temple, —The sound of Yahweh rendering recompense to his foes.
7 Avant d'être en travail, elle a enfanté; avant de sentir les douleurs, elle a mis au monde un enfant mâle.
Before she travaileth, she hath brought forth, —Before her pains come to her, she hath given birth to a man-child!
8 Qui a jamais entendu pareille chose? Qui en a vu de semblable? Un pays est-il enfanté en un jour, ou une nation naît-elle en une seule fois, que Sion ait enfanté ses fils aussitôt qu'elle a été en travail?
Who hath heard the like of this? Who hath seen the like of these things? Can a land, be made to bring forth in one day? Or a nation, be born, at one time? As soon as she travaileth, Zion hath also given birth to her children.
9 Moi, qui ouvre le sein, ne la ferai-je pas enfanter, dit l'Éternel? Moi qui fais enfanter, l'en empêcherai-je, dit ton Dieu?
Could, I, bring to the birth and not cause to bring forth? saith Yahweh. Or, I, be causing to bring forth and then prevent? Saith thy God.
10 Réjouissez-vous avec Jérusalem, soyez dans l'allégresse à cause d'elle, vous tous qui l'aimez! Réjouissez-vous avec elle d'une grande joie, vous tous qui pleuriez sur elle!
Rejoice ye with Jerusalem, and exult over her All ye who love her, —Joy with her right joyfully, All ye who used to mourn over her:
11 Afin que vous soyez allaités et rassasiés du lait de ses consolations; afin que vous buviez avec délices de sa glorieuse abondance.
That ye may draw to satisfaction out of the fountain of her consolations, —That ye may drain out and get exquisite delight from the abundance of her glory.
12 Car ainsi a dit l'Éternel: Voici, je vais faire couler vers elle la paix comme un fleuve, et la gloire des nations comme un torrent débordé; et vous serez allaités, vous serez portés sur les bras, et caressés sur les genoux.
For, thus, saith Yahweh, —Behold me! extending unto her like a river, prosperity, And as a torrent o’erflowing, the glory of the nations. That ye may draw it forth—Upon the side, shall ye be carried, and Upon the knees, shall ye be caressed:
13 Je vous consolerai comme une mère console son fils, et vous serez consolés dans Jérusalem.
As one whom, his mother, consoleth, So, will, I, console you, And in Jerusalem, shall ye be consoled.
14 Vous le verrez, et votre cœur se réjouira, et vos os reprendront vigueur comme l'herbe. Et la main de l'Éternel se fera connaître pour ses serviteurs, et sa colère contre ses ennemis.
As soon as ye have seen it, your heart, shall be joyful, And your bones, like green herbage, shall thrive, —So shall be known The hand of Yahweh with his servants, But indignation with his foes!
15 Car voici l'Éternel qui vient dans un feu, et ses chars sont comme l'ouragan, pour tourner sa colère en fureur, et ses menaces en flammes de feu.
For lo! Yahweh, with fire, doth come, And like a storm-wind, [are] his chariots, —To render with fury, his anger, And his rebuke with flames of fire.
16 Car l'Éternel exercera son jugement contre toute chair, par le feu et par son épée; et ceux que frappera l'Éternel, seront en grand nombre.
For, by fire, will Yahweh enter into judgment, And by his sword, with all flesh, —And many shall be the slain of Yahweh.
17 Ceux qui se sanctifient et qui se purifient au milieu des jardins, l'un après l'autre; qui mangent de la chair de pourceau, et des choses abominables, et des souris, périront tous ensemble, dit l'Éternel.
They who hallow themselves and purify themselves for the gardens, Behind a certain thing in the midst, Who eat the flesh of swine and the abomination, and the mouse, Together, shall be cut off—Declareth Yahweh.
18 Mais pour moi, qui vois leurs œuvres et leurs pensées, le temps est venu de rassembler toutes les nations et toutes les langues; elles viendront, et verront ma gloire.
Because, I, …for their works and their devices, doth it come! …Am about to gather together all nations and tongues, —So shall they come and see my glory.
19 Je mettrai un signe en elles, et j'enverrai leurs réchappés vers les nations, à Tarsis, à Pul et à Lud, qui tirent de l'arc, à Tubal et à Javan, aux îles éloignées, qui n'ont jamais entendu parler de moi et qui n'ont point vu ma gloire; et ils publieront ma gloire parmi les nations.
Then will I set among them, a sign, And will send, of them such as have escaped unto the nations—Tarshish Pul and Lud that draw the bow, Tubal and Javan, —The Coastlands that are afar off, Who have not heard my fame Nor seen my glory, And they shall tell my glory throughout the nations.
20 Et ils amèneront tous vos frères, du milieu de toutes les nations, comme une offrande à l'Éternel, sur des chevaux, sur des chars, dans des litières, sur des mulets, sur des dromadaires, à ma montagne sainte, à Jérusalem, dit l'Éternel; comme les enfants d'Israël apportent l'offrande, dans un vase pur, à la maison de l'Éternel.
Then shall they bring in all your brethren out of all the nations, As a present unto Yahweh, Upon horses and in chariots and in palanquins and on mules and on dromedaries Unto my holy mountain—Jerusalem, saith Yahweh, —Just as the sons of Israel, bring in their present in a pure vessel, into the house, of Yahweh.
21 Et parmi eux aussi j'en prendrai pour être sacrificateurs et lévites, dit l'Éternel.
And of them also, will I take for priests—for Levites, saith Yahweh,
22 Car, comme les cieux nouveaux et la terre nouvelle que je vais créer, subsisteront devant moi, dit l'Éternel, ainsi subsisteront votre race et votre nom.
For, as the new heavens and the new earth, which I am about to make, are to remain before me, Declareth Yahweh, So, shall remain your seed and your name.
23 Et de mois en mois, et de sabbat en sabbat, toute chair viendra se prosterner devant moi, dit l'Éternel.
And it shall come to pass, that From one new moon to another, and From one sabbath to another, Shall all flesh, come in, to bow down before me, Saith Yahweh.
24 Et ils sortiront, et verront les cadavres des hommes qui se sont rebellés contre moi; car leur ver ne mourra point, leur feu ne s'éteindra point, et ils seront pour toute chair un objet d'horreur.
Then shall they go forth and look upon the dead bodies of the men who had been trespassing against me—For, their worm, shall not die, And, their fire, shall not be quenched; So shall they become an abhorrence to all flesh.
