Isaïe 22
1 Prophétie sur la vallée des visions. Qu'as-tu donc, que tu sois tout entière montée sur les toits,
The oracle on the valley of vision, —What aileth thee, then, That thou art wholly gone up to the house-tops?
2 Ville bruyante, pleine de clameurs, cité joyeuse? Tes morts n'ont pas été frappés par l'épée, ils ne sont pas tués en combattant.
With tumults, art thou filled, thou citadel in commotion! city exultant! Thy slain, are Not the slain, of the sword, Nor the dead in battle.
3 Tous ses chefs s'étaient enfuis ensemble, devant les archers; ils sont faits prisonniers; tous ceux des siens que l'on trouve, sont faits prisonniers ensemble, quand ils s'enfuyaient au loin.
All thy ruler, having fled, together, by the bow, are taken captive: All found in thee have been taken captive, together, Far away, have they fled.
4 C'est pourquoi je dis: Détournez les yeux de moi, que je pleure amèrement! N'insistez pas pour me consoler du désastre de la fille de mon peuple.
For this cause, I said—Look away from me, Bitterly, will I weep, —Do not press to comfort me, For the ruin of the daughter of my people.
5 Car c'est un jour de trouble, de destruction et de consternation, le jour du Seigneur, l'Éternel des armées, dans la vallée des visions. On démolit la muraille, des cris de détresse retentissent sur la montagne.
For a day of confusion and downtreading and perplexity, pertaineth to My Lord, Yahweh of hosts, in the valley of vision, an undermining of walls, and a crying for help to the mountain.
6 Élam porte le carquois, avec des chars pleins d'hommes et des cavaliers; Kir découvre le bouclier.
Yea, Elam, beareth the quiver, With trains of men, [and] horsemen, —And, Kir, hath uncovered the shield.
7 Les plus belles vallées sont remplies de chars, et les cavaliers se rangent en bataille devant les portes.
And it hath come to pass that the choice of thy vales, are full of chariots; Yea, the horsemen, have set themselves, in array, at the gate.
8 Le voile de Juda est levé, et en ce jour tu portes tes regards vers les armes du palais de la forêt.
Then removed he the veil of Judah, —Yea thou didst peer on that day, into the armoury of the forest-house;
9 Vous voyez les brèches nombreuses faites à la ville de David, et vous amassez les eaux du bas étang;
And the breaches in the city of David, ye beheld for they were many, —So ye gathered together the waters of the lower pool;
10 Vous comptez les maisons de Jérusalem, vous démolissez les maisons pour fortifier la muraille;
And the houses of Jerusalem, ye counted, —And brake down the houses, to fortify the wall;
11 Vous faites aussi un réservoir entre les deux murailles pour les eaux du vieil étang. Mais vous ne regardez pas à Celui qui a fait ceci, vous ne voyez pas Celui qui l'a préparé dès longtemps.
And a reservoir, ye made between the two walls, for the waters of the ancient pool, —And had no regard unto him that made it, Nor unto him that formed it long ago, had ye respect.
12 Et tandis que le Seigneur, l'Éternel des armées, vous appelait en ce jour à pleurer, à gémir, à vous raser la tête et à ceindre le sac,
And, when My Lord Yahweh of hosts called in that day, —for weeping, and for lamentation, and for shaving bare and for girding with sackcloth,
13 Voici de l'allégresse et de la joie; on tue des bœufs, on égorge des moutons, on mange de la chair, et on boit du vin: Mangeons et buvons, car demain nous mourrons!
Then lo! joy and rejoicing, killing oxen and slaughtering sheep, eating flesh and drinking wine, —Let us eat and drink, For to-morrow, we may die!
14 Mais voici ce que l'Éternel des armées m'a fait entendre: Jamais cette iniquité ne vous sera pardonnée, que vous n'en mouriez, dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel des armées.
Therefore did Yahweh reveal himself in mine ears. Surely there shall be no propitiatory-covering put over this iniquity for you until ye die, Saith My Lord Yahweh of hosts.
15 Ainsi a dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel des armées: Va, rends-toi vers ce favori du roi, vers Shebna, le préfet du palais:
Thus, said My Lord Yahweh, of hosts, Come go in unto this steward, Unto Shebna, who is over the house:
16 Qu'as-tu ici et qui as-tu ici, que tu te sois creusé ici un tombeau? Il se creuse un tombeau sur la hauteur; il se taille une demeure dans le roc!
What doest thou here? And whom hast thou here? That thou hast hewn for thyself here a sepulchre, —As one hewing on high his sepulchre, Cutting out in the cliff a habitation for himself?
17 Voici, l'Éternel va te lancer au loin, comme avec un bras vigoureux; il t'enveloppera de toutes parts;
Lo! Yahweh, is about to hurl thee, with a hurl, O mighty man, —And roll thee with a roll;
18 Il te fera rouler, rouler comme une boule, vers un pays large et spacieux. Là tu mourras, là iront tes chars magnifiques, ô honte de la maison de ton seigneur!
He will, toss, thee, with a toss, like a ball, into a country wide on both hands, —There, shalt thou die, And there shall thy glorious chariots be the contempt of the house of thy lord.
19 Je te chasserai de ton poste, et tu seras ôté de ta place!
Thus will I thrust thee out from thine office, —And from thy station, shall one tear thee down.
20 En ce jour-là, j'appellerai mon serviteur Éliakim, fils de Hilkija;
And it shall come to pass in that day, That I will call for my servant, for Eliakim son of Hilkiah,
21 Je le vêtirai de ta tunique, et le ceindrai de ta ceinture; je mettrai ton autorité entre ses mains, et il sera le père des habitants de Jérusalem et de la maison de Juda.
And will clothe him with thy tunic And with thy girdle, will I gird him, And thine authority, will I deliver into his hand, —So shall he become a father To the inhabitant of Jerusalem and To the house of Judah.
22 Je mettrai sur son épaule la clef de la maison de David; il ouvrira, et nul ne fermera; il fermera, et nul n'ouvrira.
And I will lay the key of the house of David upon his shoulder, —And he shall open and none shall shut, And shut and none shall open;
23 Je le fixerai comme un clou en lieu sûr; il sera comme un trône de gloire pour la maison de son père.
And I will fasten him as a peg in a sure place, —And he shall become a throne of glory, to the house of his father;
24 Toute la gloire de la maison de son père, les rejetons grands et petits, reposeront sur lui; tous les petits ustensiles, depuis la vaisselle des bassins, jusqu'à tous les instruments de musique.
And they shall hang upon him all the weight of his father’s house—The offshoots and the side-twigs—All the small vessels, Both the cups and all the jugs
25 En ce jour-là, dit l'Éternel des armées, le clou fixé dans un lieu sûr cédera; il sera coupé, il tombera, et la charge qu'il portait sera retranchée. Car l'Éternel a parlé.
In that day, —Declareth Yahweh of hosts Shall the peg, give way, that was fastened in a sure place, —Yea it shall be cut off and fall And the burden that was upon it shall perish, For, Yahweh, hath spoken!
