Genèse 15
1 Après ces choses, la parole de l'Éternel fut adressée à Abram dans une vision, en disant: Ne crains point, Abram, je suis ton bouclier, et ta très grande récompense.
And so whanne these thingis weren don, the word of the Lord was maad to Abram bi a visioun, and seide, Abram, nyle thou drede, Y am thi defender, and thi meede is ful greet.
2 Et Abram répondit: Seigneur Éternel, que me donneras-tu? Je m'en vais sans enfants, et celui qui possédera ma maison est Eliézer de Damas.
And Abram seide, Lord God, what schalt thou yyue to me? Y schal go with oute fre children, and this Damask, sone of Elieser, the procuratour of myn hous, schal be myn eir.
3 Et Abram dit: Voici, tu ne m'as pas donné de postérité, et voilà qu'un serviteur né dans ma maison sera mon héritier.
And Abram addide, Sotheli thou hast not youe seed to me, and, lo! my borun seruaunt schal be myn eir.
4 Et voici, la parole de l'Éternel lui fut adressée, en disant: Celui-ci ne sera point ton héritier; mais celui qui sortira de tes entrailles, sera ton héritier.
And anoon the word of the Lord was maad to hym, and seide, This schal not be thin eir, but thou schalt haue hym eir, that schal go out of thi wombe.
5 Puis il le mena dehors et lui dit: Regarde vers le ciel, et compte les étoiles, si tu peux les compter. Et il lui dit: Ainsi sera ta postérité.
And the Lord ledde out Abram, and seide to hym, Biholde thou heuene, and noumbre thou sterris, if thou maist. And the Lord seide to Abram, So thi seed schal be.
6 Et Abram crut à l'Éternel, qui lui imputa cela à justice.
Abram bileuede to God, and it was arettid to hym to riytfulnesse.
7 Et il lui dit: Je suis l'Éternel, qui t'a fait sortir d'Ur des Caldéens, afin de te donner ce pays pour le posséder.
And God seide to hym, Y am the Lord, that ladde thee out of Vr of Caldeis, that Y schulde yyue this lond to thee, and thou schuldist haue it in possessioun.
8 Et il dit: Seigneur Éternel, à quoi connaîtrai-je que je le posséderai?
And Abram seide, Lord God, wherbi may I wite that Y schal welde it?
9 Et il lui répondit: Prends pour moi une génisse de trois ans, une chèvre de trois ans, un bélier de trois ans, une tourterelle et un pigeonneau.
And the Lord answerde, and seide, Take thou to me a cow of thre yeer, and a geet of thre yeer, and a ram of thre yeer, a turtle also, and a culuer.
10 Et il prit toutes ces choses, et les partagea par le milieu, et il mit chaque moitié vis-à-vis de l'autre; mais il ne partagea point les oiseaux.
Which took alle these thingis, and departide tho bi the myddis, and settide euer eithir partis ech ayens other; but he departide not the briddis.
11 Et les oiseaux de proie fondirent sur ces bêtes mortes; mais Abram les chassa.
And foulis camen doun on the careyns, and Abram drof hem awey.
12 Et comme le soleil allait se coucher, un profond sommeil tomba sur Abram; et voici, une terreur, une obscurité profonde tomba sur lui.
And whanne the sunne was gon doun, drede felde on Abram, and a greet hidousenesse and derk asaylide him.
13 Et l'Éternel dit à Abram: Sache que ta postérité sera étrangère dans un pays qui ne lui appartiendra point, et qu'elle en servira les habitants, et qu'ils l'opprimeront pendant quatre cents ans.
And it was seid to hym, Wite thou bifore knowinge, that thi seed schal be pilgrim foure hundrid yeer in a lond not his owne, and thei schulen make hem suget to seruage, and thei schulen turment hem;
14 Mais je jugerai aussi la nation à laquelle tes descendants seront asservis; et ensuite ils sortiront avec de grandes richesses.
netheles Y schal deme the folk to whom thei schulen serue; and aftir these thingis thei schulen go out with greet catel.
15 Et toi, tu t'en iras en paix vers tes pères, tu seras enseveli dans une heureuse vieillesse.
Forsothe thou schalt go to thi fadris in pees, and schalt be biried in good age.
16 Et à la quatrième génération ils reviendront ici; car l'iniquité de l'Amoréen n'est pas encore à son comble.
Sotheli in the fourthe generacioun thei schulen turne ayen hidir, for the wickidnesses of Amoreis ben not yit fillid, `til to present tyme.
17 Et lorsque le soleil fut couché, il y eut une obscurité épaisse; et voici, il y eut une fournaise fumante, et une flamme de feu qui passa entre les chairs partagées.
Therfor whanne the sunne was gon doun, a derk myst was maad, and a furneis smokynge apperide, and a laumpe of fier, and passide thorou tho departingis.
18 En ce jour-là, l'Éternel traita alliance avec Abram, en disant: Je donne ce pays à ta postérité, depuis le fleuve d'Égypte jusqu'au grand fleuve, au fleuve d'Euphrate;
In that dai the Lord made a couenaunt of pees with Abram, and seide, Y schal yyue to thi seed this lond, fro the ryuer of Egipt til to the greet ryuer Eufrates; Cyneis,
19 Les Kéniens, les Kéniziens, les Kadmoniens,
and Cyneseis, and Cethmoneis, and Etheis,
20 Les Héthiens, les Phéréziens, les Rephaïms,
and Fereseis, and Raphaym, and Amorreis,
21 Les Amoréens, les Cananéens, les Guirgasiens et les Jébusiens.
and Cananeis, and Gergeseis, and Jebuseis.
