Esdras 10

1 Or, comme Esdras priait et faisait cette confession, pleurant et prosterné devant la maison de Dieu, une fort grande multitude d'Israélites, hommes, femmes et enfants, s'assembla vers lui; et ce peuple répandit des larmes en abondance.

And just as was praying Ezra and just as was confessing he weeping and prostrating himself before [the] house of God they gathered to him from Israel a company great very men and women and children for they wept the people great weeping.

2 Alors Shécania, fils de Jéhiel, des enfants d'Élam, prit la parole, et dit à Esdras: Nous avons péché contre notre Dieu, en prenant des femmes étrangères d'entre les peuples de ce pays. Mais maintenant il est encore à cet égard quelque espérance pour Israël.

And he answered Shecaniah [the] son of Jehiel one of [the] descendants of (Elam *Q(K)*) and he said to Ezra we we have acted unfaithfully against God our and we have married women foreign from [the] peoples of the land and now there [is] hope for Israel on this.

3 Engageons-nous maintenant, par alliance avec notre Dieu, à renvoyer toutes ces femmes et tout ce qui est né d'elles, selon le conseil de mon seigneur et de ceux qui tremblent au commandement de notre Dieu; et que l'on fasse selon la loi.

And therefore let us make a covenant to God our to send out all wives and those born from them by [the] counsel of [the] Lord and the [people] trembling at [the] commandment of God our and according to the law let it be done.

4 Lève-toi; car cette affaire te regarde, et nous serons avec toi. Prends donc courage, et agis.

Arise for [is] on you the matter and we [will be] with you be strong and act.

5 Alors Esdras se leva, et il fit jurer aux chefs des sacrificateurs, des Lévites et de tout Israël, qu'ils feraient selon cette parole; et ils le jurèrent.

And he arose Ezra and he made to swear an oath [the] leaders of the priests the Levites and all Israel to do according to the manner this and they swore [the] oath.

6 Puis Esdras se leva de devant la maison de Dieu, et s'en alla dans la chambre de Jochanan, fils d'Éliashib, et y entra; et il ne mangea point de pain et ne but point d'eau, parce qu'il était en deuil à cause du péché de ceux de la captivité.

And he arose Ezra from to before [the] house of God and he went into [the] room of Jehohanan [the] son of Eliashib and he went there food not he ate and water not he drank for [he was] mourning on [the] unfaithfulness of the exile[s].

7 Alors on publia, en Juda et à Jérusalem, que tous les enfants de la captivité eussent à s'assembler à Jérusalem.

And they caused to pass a proclamation in Judah and Jerusalem to all [the] children of the exile to assemble Jerusalem.

8 Et que si quelqu'un ne s'y rendait pas dans trois jours, selon l'avis des principaux et des anciens, tout son bien serait mis en interdit, et qu'il serait séparé de l'assemblée de ceux de la captivité.

And every [one] who not he will come to [the] three the days according to [the] counsel of the leaders and the elders it will be forfeited all property his and he he will be separated from [the] assembly of the exile[s].

9 Ainsi tous ceux de Juda et de Benjamin s'assemblèrent à Jérusalem dans les trois jours; ce fut au neuvième mois, le vingtième jour du mois; et tout le peuple se tint sur la place de la maison de Dieu, tremblant au sujet de cette affaire, et à cause des pluies.

And they assembled all [the] people of Judah and Benjamin - Jerusalem to [the] three the days it [was the] month ninth on [day] twenty in the month and they sat all the people in [the] open place of [the] house of God trembling on the matter and from the rains.

10 Puis Esdras, le sacrificateur, se leva et leur dit: Vous avez péché, en prenant chez vous des femmes étrangères, et vous avez ainsi rendu Israël plus coupable.

And he arose Ezra the priest and he said to them you you have acted unfaithfully and you have married women foreign to add to [the] guilt of Israel.

11 Mais maintenant, faites la confession de votre faute à l'Éternel, le Dieu de vos pères, et faites sa volonté. Séparez-vous des peuples du pays et des femmes étrangères.

And therefore give praise to Yahweh [the] God of ancestors your and do will his and separate yourselves from [the] peoples of the land and from the women foreign.

12 Et toute l'assemblée répondit, et dit à haute voix: Oui, il faut que nous fassions comme tu dis.

And they answered all the assembly and they said a voice great so (according to word your *Q(K)*) on us to do.

13 Mais le peuple est nombreux, et c'est le temps des pluies, et il n'y a pas moyen de se tenir dehors; et ce n'est pas une affaire d'un jour, ni de deux; car nous sommes un grand nombre qui avons péché dans cette affaire.

But the people [is] numerous and the time [is] rains and there not [is] ability to stand on the outside and the business not [belongs] to a day one and not to two for we have increased to transgress in the matter this.

14 Que nos chefs de toute l'assemblée demeurent donc; et que tous ceux qui dans nos villes ont introduit chez eux des femmes étrangères, viennent à des époques déterminées, avec les anciens et les juges de chaque ville, jusqu'à ce que l'ardeur de la colère de notre Dieu au sujet de cette affaire, se soit détournée de nous.

Let them stand please leaders our for all the assembly and every [one] - who [is] in cities our who he has married women foreign let him come to times appointed and with them [the] elders of a city and a city and judges its until turn back [the] burning of [the] anger of God our from us until to the matter this.

15 Il n'y eut que Jonathan, fils d'Asaël, et Jachzia, fils de Thikva, qui s'opposèrent à cela; et Méshullam et Shabbéthaï, le Lévite, les appuyèrent.

Only Jonathan [the] son of Asahel and Jahzeiah [the] son of Tikvah they stood on this and Meshullam and Shabbethai the Levite[s] they supported them.

16 Mais les enfants de la captivité firent ainsi: On choisit Esdras, le sacrificateur, et les chefs des pères, selon les maisons de leurs pères, tous désignés par leurs noms. Ils siégèrent au premier jour du dixième mois, pour s'informer de cette affaire.

And they did thus [the] children of the exile and they separated themselves Ezra the priest men [the] leaders of the fathers for [the] house of ancestors their and all of them by names and they sat down on day one of the month tenth to investigate the matter.

17 Et le premier jour du premier mois, ils eurent fini avec tous ceux qui avaient pris chez eux des femmes étrangères.

And they finished with everything [the] men who they had married women foreign until day one of the month first.

18 Parmi les fils des sacrificateurs, il s'en trouva qui avaient pris chez eux des femmes étrangères; d'entre les enfants de Jéshua, fils de Jotsadak, et d'entre ses frères: Maaséja, Éliézer, Jarib et Guédalia;

And it was found some of [the] sons of the priests who they had married women foreign some of [the] sons of Jeshua [the] son of Jozadak and brothers his Maaseiah and Eliezer and Jarib and Gedaliah.

19 Qui promirent de renvoyer leurs femmes, et d'offrir, comme coupables, un bélier pour leur péché.

And they gave hand their to send out wives their and [being] guilty a ram of [the] flock on guilt their.

20 Des enfants d'Immer: Hanani et Zébadia.

And of [the] sons of Immer Hanani and Zebadiah.

21 Des enfants de Harim: Maaséja, Élie, Shémaja, Jéhiel et Uzzia.

And of [the] sons of Harim Maaseiah and Elijah and Shemaiah and Jehiel and Uzziah.

22 Des enfants de Pashur: Eljoénaï, Maaséja, Ismaël, Nathanaël, Jozabad et Éléasa.

And of [the] sons of Pashhur Elioenai Maaseiah Ishmael Nethanel Jozabad and Eleasah.

23 Des Lévites: Jozabad, Shimeï, Kélaja (c'est Kélita), Péthachia, Juda et Éliézer.

And of the Levites Jozabad and Shimei and Kelaiah that [is] Kelita Pethahiah Judah and Eliezer.

24 Des chantres: Éliashib; et des portiers: Shallum, Télem et Uri.

And of the singers Eliashib and of the gatekeepers Shallum and Telem and Uri.

25 De ceux d'Israël, des enfants de Parosh: Ramia, Jizzia, Malkija, Mijamin, Éléazar, Malkija et Bénaja.

And of Israel of [the] sons of Parosh Ramiah and Izziah and Malkijah and Mijamin and Eleazar and Malkijah and Benaiah.

26 Des enfants d'Élam: Matthania, Zacharie, Jéhiel, Abdi, Jérémoth et Élie.

And of [the] sons of Elam Mattaniah Zechariah and Jehiel and Abdi and Jeremoth and Elijah.

27 Des enfants de Zatthu: Eljoénaï, Éliashib, Matthania, Jérémoth, Zabad et Aziza.

And of [the] sons of Zattu Elioenai Eliashib Mattaniah and Jeremoth and Zabad and Aziza.

28 Des enfants de Bébaï: Jochanan, Hanania, Zabbaï et Athlaï.

And of [the] sons of Bebai Jehohanan Hananiah Zabbai Athlai.

29 Des enfants de Bani: Méshullam, Malluc, Adaja, Jashud, Shéal et Ramoth.

And of [the] sons of Bani Meshullam Malluch and Adaiah Jashub and Sheal (and Ramoth. *Q(K)*)

30 Des enfants de Pachath-Moab: Adna, Kélal, Bénaja, Maaséja, Matthania, Bethsaléel, Binnuï et Manassé.

And of [the] sons of Pahath-Moab Adna and Kelal Benaiah Maaseiah Mattaniah Bezalel and Binnui and Manasseh.

31 Des enfants de Harim: Éliézer, Jishija, Malkija, Shémaja, Siméon,

And [the] sons of Harim Eliezer Isshiah Malkijah Shemaiah Simeon.

32 Benjamin, Malluc et Shémaria.

Benjamin Malluch Shemariah.

33 Des enfants de Hashum: Mathnaï, Matthattha, Zabad, Éliphélet, Jérémaï, Manassé et Shimeï.

Of [the] sons of Hashum Mattenai Mattattah Zabad Eliphelet Jeremai Manasseh Shimei.

34 Des enfants de Bani: Maadaï, Amram, Uël,

Of [the] sons of Bani Maadai Amram and Uel.

35 Bénaja, Bédia, Kéluhu,

Benaiah Bedeiah (Keluhi. *Q(K)*)

36 Vania, Mérémoth, Éliashib,

Vaniah Meremoth Eliashib.

37 Matthania, Matthénaï, Jaasaï,

Mattaniah Mattenai (and Jaasai. *Q(K)*)

38 Bani, Binnuï, Shimeï,

And Bani and Binnui Shimei.

39 Shélémia, Nathan, Adaja,

And Shelemiah and Nathan and Adaiah.

40 Macnadbaï, Shashaï, Sharaï,

Machnadebai Shashai Sharai.

41 Azaréel, Shélémia, Shémaria,

Azarel and Shelemiah Shemariah.

42 Shallum, Amaria et Joseph.

Shallum Amariah Joseph.

43 Des enfants de Nébo: Jéiel, Matthithia, Zabad, Zébina, Jaddaï, Joël et Bénaja.

Of [the] sons of Nebo Jeiel Mattithiah Zabad Zebina (Jaddai *Q(K)*) and Joel Benaiah.

44 Tous ceux-là avaient pris des femmes étrangères; et il y en avait d'entre eux qui avaient eu des enfants de ces femmes-là.

All these (they had taken *Q(K)*) women foreign and there [were] some of them wives and they [masc] had made children.
