Ézéchiel 35
1 La parole de l'Éternel me fut adressée en ces termes:
Moreover, the word of Jehovah came to me, saying:
2 Fils de l'homme, tourne ta face vers la montagne de Séir, et prohétise contre elle.
Son of man, set thy face against Mount Seir, and prophesy against it,
3 Dis-lui: Ainsi a dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel: Voici, j'en veux à toi, montagne de Séir; j'étends ma main sur toi, et te réduis en solitude et en désert!
and say to it, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Behold, I am against thee, O Mount Seir, and I will stretch out my hand against thee, and I will make thee an utter desolation;
4 Je réduirai tes villes en désert, tu seras une désolation, et tu sauras que je suis l'Éternel.
I will lay thy cities waste, and thou shalt be desolate, and thou shalt know that I am Jehovah.
5 Parce que tu avais une inimitié éternelle, et que tu as livré à l'épée les enfants d'Israël, dans le temps de leur calamité, alors que leur iniquité était à son terme,
Because thou bearest a perpetual hatred, and deliverest up the sons of Israel to the sword in the time of their calamity, in the time when iniquity bringeth destruction:
6 A cause de cela, je suis vivant! dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel, je te mettrai à sang, et le sang te poursuivra; parce que tu n'as point haï le sang, le sang te poursuivra!
therefore, as I live, saith the Lord Jehovah, surely, to blood will I bring thee, and blood shall pursue thee; since thou hast not hated blood, blood shall pursue thee.
7 Je réduirai en solitude et en désolation la montagne de Séir, et j'en retrancherai les allants et venants.
Thus will I make Mount Seir an utter desolation, and cut off from it him that passeth out, and him that returneth.
8 Je remplirai ses montagnes de blessés à mort; ceux que l'épée blesse à mort tomberont sur tes coteaux, dans tes vallées et dans tous tes ravins.
And I will fill his valleys with the slain. Upon thy hills and in thy plains and in thy valleys shall fall they that are slain with the sword.
9 Je te réduirai en solitudes éternelles; tes villes ne seront plus habitées, et vous saurez que je suis l'Éternel.
I will make thee a perpetual desolation, and thy cities shall not be inhabited; and ye shall know that I am Jehovah.
10 Parce que tu as dit: “Les deux nations et les deux pays seront à moi, et nous nous en emparerons”, bien que l'Éternel y soit,
Because thou hast said, “These two nations and these two countries shall be mine, and we shall possess them,” whereas Jehovah was there;
11 C'est pourquoi, je suis vivant! dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel, je te traiterai selon la colère et la fureur que tu as exercées dans tes inimitiés contre eux, et je me ferai connaître au milieu d'eux, quand je te jugerai.
therefore, as I live, saith the Lord Jehovah, I will do according to thine anger and according to thine envy which in thy hatred against them thou hast practised, and I will make myself known to them when I judge thee.
12 Sache que moi, l'Éternel, j'ai entendu les outrages que tu as proférés contre les montagnes d'Israël, en disant: Elles sont désolées, elles nous sont données comme une proie.
And thou shalt know that I am Jehovah, and that I have heard all thy blasphemies which thou hast spoken against the mountains of Israel, saying: “They are laid desolate; to us are they given to be devoured.”
13 Et vous m'avez bravé par vos discours, et vous avez multiplié vos paroles contre moi; je l'ai entendu.
Thus with your mouth have ye magnified yourselves against me, and multiplied your words against me; I have heard them.
14 Ainsi a dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel: Lorsque toute la terre sera dans la joie, je te réduirai en désolation.
Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: When the whole land rejoiceth, I will prepare desolation for thee.
15 Puisque tu t'es réjouie de ce que l'héritage de la maison d'Israël ait été désolé, je te traiterai de même; tu seras désolée, montagne de Séir, avec l'Idumée tout entière, et l'on saura que je suis l'Éternel.
As thou didst rejoice over my inheritance, the house of Israel, because it was desolate, so will I do to thee! Mount Seir shall be desolate, and all Edom, even all of it; and they shall know that I am Jehovah.
