Ézéchiel 16
1 La parole de l'Éternel me fut adressée en ces termes:
And the word of the Lord was maad to me,
2 Fils de l'homme, fais connaître à Jérusalem ses abominations.
and he seide, Sone of man, make thou knowun to Jerusalem her abhomynaciouns; and thou schalt seie,
3 Dis: Ainsi a dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel, à Jérusalem: Par ton origine et ta naissance tu es du pays de Canaan; ton père est un Amoréen, ta mère une Héthienne.
The Lord God seith these thingis. A! thou Jerusalem, thi rote and thi generacioun is of the lond of Canaan; thi fadir is Amorrei, and thi moder is Cetei.
4 A ta naissance, au jour où tu naquis, ton nombril ne fut point coupé, tu ne fus point lavée dans l'eau pour être nettoyée, tu ne fus pas purifiée avec du sel, ni enveloppée de langes.
And whanne thou were borun, thi nawle was not kit awei in the dai of thi birthe, and thou were not waischun in watir in to helthe, nethir saltid with salt, nether wlappid in clothis.
5 Aucun œil n'eut pitié de toi, pour te faire aucune de ces choses par compassion pour toi; mais tu fus jetée sur la surface d'un champ, par mépris pour ta vie, au jour de ta naissance.
An iye sparide not on thee, that it hauynge merci on thee, dide to thee oon of these thingis; but thou were cast forth on the face of erthe, in the castynge out of thi soule, in the dai in which thou were borun.
6 Or je passai près de toi, je te vis gisant dans ton sang, près d'être foulée aux pieds, et je te dis: Vis dans ton sang! je te dis: Vis dans ton sang!
Forsothe Y passide bi thee, and Y siy thee defoulid in thi blood; and Y seide to thee, whanne thou were in thi blood, Lyue thou; sotheli Y seide to thee in thi blood, Lyue thou.
7 Je t'ai multipliée par myriades, comme l'herbe des champs, tu pris de l'accroissement, tu grandis et tu devins d'une beauté parfaite. Tes seins se formèrent, tu devins nubile, mais tu étais nue, et entièrement nue.
Y yaf thee multiplied as the seed of a feeld, and thou were multiplied, and maad greet; and thou entridist, and camest fulli to wymmens ournyng; thi tetis wexiden greet, and thin heer wexide; and thou were nakid, and ful of schenschipe.
8 Et je passai près de toi et te regardai; voici, ton âge était l'âge où l'on aime, et j'étendis sur toi le pan de mon vêtement, je couvris ta nudité; je te fis serment, je fis alliance avec toi, dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel, et tu m'appartins.
And Y passide bi thee, and Y siy thee, and lo! thi tyme, the tyme of louyeris; and Y spredde abrood my clothing on thee, and Y hilide thi schenschipe. And Y swoor to thee, and Y made a couenaunt with thee, seith the Lord God, and thou were maad a wijf to me.
9 Je te lavai dans l'eau, et en t'y plongeant, j'ôtai le sang de dessus toi, et je t'oignis d'huile.
And Y waischide thee in water, and Y clenside awei thi blood fro thee, and Y anoyntide thee with oile.
10 Je te revêtis de broderies, je te mis une chaussure de couleur d'hyacinthe; je te ceignis de fin lin et te couvris de soie.
And Y clothide thee with clothis of dyuerse colours, and Y schodde thee in iacynct, and Y girde thee with biys;
11 Je te parai d'ornements; je mis des bracelets à tes mains, et un collier à ton cou,
and Y clothide thee with sutil thingis, and Y ournede thee with ournement.
12 Un anneau à ton nez, des boucles à tes oreilles, une couronne magnifique sur ta tête.
And Y yaf bies in thin hondis, and a wrethe aboute thi necke; and Y yaf a ryng on thi mouth, and cerclis to thin eeris, and a coroun of fairnesse in thin heed.
13 Ainsi tu fus parée d'or et d'argent; ton vêtement était de fin lin, de soie, de broderies; la fleur de farine, le miel et l'huile faisaient ta nourriture; tu devins extrêmement belle, et tu parvins à une royale dignité.
And thou were ourned with gold and siluer, and thou were clothid with biys and ray cloth with rounde ymagis, and many colours. Thou etist cleene flour of wheete, and hony, and oile, and thou were maad fair ful greetli; and thou encreessidist in to a rewme,
14 Ta renommée se répandit parmi les nations à cause de ta beauté, car elle était parfaite, grâce à la magnificence dont je t'avais ornée, dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel.
and thi name yede out in to hethene men for thi fairnesse; for thou were perfit in my fairnesse which Y hadde sett on thee, seith the Lord God.
15 Mais tu t'es confiée en ta beauté, tu t'es prostituée à la faveur de ta renommée, et tu as prodigué tes prostitutions à tout passant, en te livrant à lui.
And thou haddist trist in thi fairnesse, and didist fornicacioun in thi name; and thou settidist forth thi fornicacioun to ech that passide forth, that thou schuldist be maad his.
16 Tu as pris de tes vêtements; tu t'es fait des hauts lieux garnis d'étoffes de toute couleur, et tu t'y es prostituée, - chose qui n'était point arrivée, et qui n'arrivera plus.
And thou tokist of my clothis, and madist to thee hiy thingis set aboute on ech side; and thou didist fornycacioun on tho, as it was not don, nether schal be don.
17 Tu as aussi pris les magnifiques parures, faites de mon or et de mon argent, que je t'avais données; tu en as fait des figures d'hommes, auxquels tu t'es prostituée.
And thou tokist the vessels of thi fairnesse, of my gold and of my siluer, which Y yaf to thee; and thou madist to thee ymagis of men, and didist fornycacioun in tho.
18 Tu as pris tes vêtements brodés pour les en couvrir, et tu leur as offert mon huile et mes parfums.
And thou tokist thi clothis of many colours, and thou were clothid in tho; and thou settidist myn oile and myn encence in the siyt of tho.
19 Et mon pain que je t'avais donné, la fleur de farine, l'huile et le miel dont je te nourrissais, tu as mis ces choses devant elles comme une offrande d'agréable odeur. Voilà ce qui en est, dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel.
And thou settidist my breed, which Y yaf to thee, flour of wheete, and oile, and hony, bi whiche Y nurschide thee, in the siyt of tho, in to odour of swetnesse; and it was don, seith the Lord God.
20 Tu as pris tes fils et tes filles, que tu m'avais enfantés, et tu les leur as sacrifiés pour être dévorés. Était-ce trop peu que tes prostitutions?
And thou tokist thi sones and thi douytris, whiche thou gendridist to me, and offridist to tho, for to be deuourid. Whether thi fornicacioun is litil?
21 Tu as immolé mes fils, tu les as livrés, en les faisant passer par le feu en leur honneur.
Thou offridist my sones, and yauest hem, and halewidist to tho.
22 Et au milieu de toutes tes abominations et de tes adultères, tu ne t'es point souvenue du temps de ta jeunesse, alors que tu étais nue et découverte, gisante dans ton sang, près d'être foulée aux pieds.
And aftir alle thin abhomynaciouns and fornicaciouns, thou bithouytist not on the daies of thi yong wexynge age, whanne thou were nakid, and ful of schenschipe, and were defoulid in thi blood.
23 Et après toutes tes méchantes actions, - malheur, malheur à toi! dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel, -
And after al thi malice, wo, wo bifelle to thee, seith the Lord God.
24 Tu t'es bâti des maisons de débauche, tu t'es fait des hauts lieux sur toutes les places.
And thou bildidist to thee a bordel hous, and madist to thee a place of hordom in alle stretis.
25 A l'entrée de chaque rue tu as bâti ton haut lieu, et tu as déshonoré ta beauté; car tu t'es livrée à tout passant et tu as multiplié tes adultères.
At ech heed of the weie thou bildidist a signe of thin hordom, and madist thi fairnesse abhomynable; and thou departidist thi feet to ech man passynge forth, and multepliedist thi fornicaciouns.
26 Tu t'es prostituée aux enfants de l'Égypte, tes voisins aux corps vigoureux, et pour m'irriter tu as multiplié tes adultères.
And thou didist fornicacioun with the sones of Egipt, thi neiyboris of grete fleischis, and thou multepliedist thi fornicacioun, to terre me to wraththe.
27 Et voici, j'ai étendu ma main contre toi, j'ai diminué la part qui t'était assignée, et t'ai livrée à la discrétion de tes ennemis, les filles des Philistins, qui ont rougi de ta conduite criminelle.
Lo! Y schal stretch forth myn hond on thee, and Y schal take awei thi iustifiyng; and Y schal yyue thee in to the soulis of hem that haten thee, of the douytris of Palestyns, that ben aschamed in thi weie ful of greet trespas.
28 Tu t'es prostituée aux enfants de l'Assyrie, parce que tu n'étais pas assouvie; et après avoir commis adultère avec eux, tu ne fus point encore assouvie;
And thou didist fornicacioun with the sones of Assiriens, for thou were not fillid yit; and after that thou didist fornicacioun, nether so thou were fillid.
29 Car tu as multiplié tes impudicités avec la terre de Canaan et jusqu'en Caldée; même alors tu n'en eus point assez.
And thou multipliedist thi fornycacioun in the lond of Canaan with Caldeis, and nether so thou were fillid.
30 Combien ton cœur est lâche, dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel, que tu aies fait toutes ces choses à la façon d'une insigne prostituée!
In what thing schal Y clense thin herte, seith the Lord God, whanne thou doist alle these werkis of a womman an hoore, and gredi axere?
31 Quand tu bâtissais tes maisons de débauche à chaque bout de rue, quand tu faisais tes hauts lieux dans toutes les places, tu n'as pas même été comme la femme débauchée qui réclame un salaire;
For thou madist thi bordel hous in `the heed of ech weie, and thou madist thin hiy place in ech street; and thou were not maad as an hoore ful of anoiyng,
32 Tu as été la femme adultère qui reçoit les étrangers à la place de son mari.
encreessynge prijs, but as a womman auowtresse, that bryngith in aliens on hir hosebonde.
33 On paie un salaire à toutes les femmes débauchées, mais toi, tu as donné des présents à tous tes amants; tu leur as fait des largesses, afin que de toute part ils viennent vers toi, pour tes prostitutions.
Hiris ben youun to alle hooris, but thou hast youe hire to alle thi louyeris; and thou yauest to hem, that thei schulden entre to thee on ech side, to do fornycacioun with thee.
34 Et tu as été le contraire des autres femmes dans tes impudicités, en ce qu'on ne te recherchait pas; tu donnais un salaire, tandis que l'on ne t'en donnait aucun; tu as été le contraire des autres.
And it was don in thee ayens the custom of wymmen in thi fornycaciouns, and fornicacioun schal not be after thee; for in that that thou yauest hiris, and tokist not hiris, the contrarie was don in thee.
35 C'est pourquoi, ô prostituée, écoute la parole de l'Éternel!
Therfor, thou hoore, here the word of the Lord.
36 Ainsi a dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel: Parce que tes trésors ont été prodigués, et que ta nudité s'est découverte dans tes prostitutions, devant tes amants et toutes tes abominables idoles; à cause du sang de tes enfants, que tu leur as livrés,
The Lord God seith these thingis, For thi riches is sched out, and thi schenschipe is schewid in thi fornicaciouns on thi louyeris, and on the idols of thin abhomynaciouns, in the blood of thi sones, whiche thou yauest to hem; lo!
37 Voici, je rassemblerai tous tes amants, avec lesquels tu te plaisais, tous ceux que tu as aimés, tous ceux que tu as haïs, je les rassemblerai de toute part contre toi; je leur découvrirai ta nudité, et ils la verront tout entière.
Y schal gadere to gidere alle thi louyeris, with whiche thou were meddlid, and alle men whiche thou louedist, with alle men whiche thou hatidist; and Y schal gadere hem on thee on ech side, and Y schal make nakid thi schenschipe bifore hem, and thei schulen se al thi filthe.
38 Et je te jugerai comme on juge les femmes adultères et celles qui répandent le sang; je t'abandonnerai à la sanguinaire vengeance de la fureur et de la jalousie.
And Y schal deme thee bi the domes of auoutressis, and schedinge out blood;
39 Je te livrerai entre leurs mains; ils abattront tes maisons de débauche et démoliront tes hauts lieux; ils te dépouilleront de tes vêtements; ils enlèveront tes magnifiques parures et te laisseront nue, entièrement nue.
and Y schal yyue thee in to the blood of strong veniaunce, and of feruour. And Y schal yyue thee in to the hondis of hem, and thei schulen destrie thi bordel hous, and thei schulen destrie the place of thin hordom; and thei schulen make thee nakid of thi clothis, and thei schulen take awei the vessels of thi fairnesse, and thei schulen forsake thee nakid, and ful of schenschipe.
40 Ils feront monter contre toi une foule de gens qui t'assommeront de pierres, et qui te mettront en pièces avec leurs épées.
And thei schulen bringe on thee a multitude, and thei schulen stoon thee with stoonys, and thei schulen sle thee with her swerdis.
41 Ils brûleront tes maisons par le feu, et feront justice de toi, en présence d'un grand nombre de femmes; ainsi je mettrai fin à tes prostitutions, et tu ne donneras plus de salaire.
And thei schulen brenne thin housis with fier, and thei schulen make domes in thee, bifor the iyen of ful many wymmen; and thou schalt ceese to do fornicacioun, and thou schalt no more yyue hiris.
42 Et j'assouvirai ma fureur contre toi, et ma jalousie se détournera de toi; alors je serai en repos et n'aurai plus à m'irriter.
And myn indignacioun schal reste in thee, and my feruent loue schal be takun awei fro thee; and Y schal reste, and Y schal no more be wrooth,
43 Parce que tu ne t'es point souvenue du temps de ta jeunesse, que tu m'as provoqué par toutes ces choses, voici, je ferai retomber ta conduite sur ta tête, dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel, et tu ne commettras plus le crime avec toutes tes abominations.
for thou haddist not mynde on the daies of thi yong wexynge age, and thou terridist me to ire in alle these thingis. Wherfor and Y yaf thi weies in thin heed, seith the Lord God, and Y dide not aftir thi grete trespassis, in alle these thin abhomynaciouns.
44 Voici, tout homme qui use de proverbes, en fera un sur ton compte, et dira: “Telle mère, telle fille! “
Lo! ech man that seith a prouerbe comynli, schal take it in thee,
45 Tu es la fille de ta mère, qui eut en aversion son mari et ses enfants; tu es la sœur de tes sœurs, qui ont eu en aversion leurs maris et leurs enfants; votre mère était Héthienne et votre père Amoréen.
and schal seie, As the modir, so and the douytir of hir. Thou art the douyter of thi modir, that castide awey hir hosebonde and hir sones; and thou art the sister of thi sistris, that castiden a wei her hosebondis and her sones. Thi modir is Cetei, and thi fadir is Ammorrei;
46 Ta sœur aînée, avec ses filles, qui habite à ta gauche, c'est Samarie; ta sœur cadette qui demeure à ta droite, c'est Sodome et ses filles.
and thi gretter sister is Samarie, sche and hir douytris, that dwellen at thi left side; but thi sistir lesse than thou, that dwellith at thi riyt side, is Sodom, and hir douytris.
47 Tu n'as pas seulement marché dans leurs voies et pratiqué les mêmes abominations; c'était trop peu; mais tu t'es corrompue plus qu'elles dans toute ta conduite.
But thou yedist not in the weies of hem, nethir thou didist aftir the grete trespassis of hem; hast thou do almest a litil lesse cursidere dedis than thei, in alle thi weies?
48 Je suis vivant! dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel; Sodome, ta sœur elle-même, avec ses filles, n'a point fait ce que tu as fait, toi, avec tes filles.
Y lyue, seith the Lord God, for Sodom, thi sister, did not, sche and hir douytris, as thou didist, and thi douytris.
49 Voici quelle a été l'iniquité de Sodome, ta sœur: l'orgueil, l'abondance et une molle oisiveté; voilà ce qu'elle avait, elle et ses filles; mais elle ne soutenait pas la main de l'affligé et du pauvre.
Lo! this was the wickidnesse of Sodom, thi sister, pride, fulnesse of breed, and habundaunce, and idilnesse of hir, and of hir douytris; and thei puttiden not hond to a nedi man and pore.
50 Elles sont devenues hautaines et ont commis l'abomination devant moi; aussi les ai-je exterminées, dès que je l'ai vu.
And thei weren enhaunsid, and diden other abhominaciouns bifore me; and Y took hem awei, as thou hast seyn.
51 Et Samarie n'a pas commis la moitié autant de péchés que toi; tu as multiplié tes abominations plus qu'elle, et par toutes les abominations que tu as commises tu as justifié tes sœurs.
And Samarie synnede not the half of thi synnes, but thou hast ouercome hem in thi grete trespassis; and thou hast iustified thi sistris in alle thin abhomynaciouns, whiche thou wrouytist.
52 Porte donc, toi aussi, l'opprobre que tu as infligé à tes sœurs! A cause de tes péchés que tu as rendus plus abominables que les leurs, elles se trouvent être plus justes que toi. Sois donc, toi aussi, couverte de confusion, et porte ton opprobre, puisque tu as justifié tes sœurs.
Therfor and thou bere thi schenschipe, that hast ouercome thi sistris with thi synnes, and didist more cursidli than thei; for thei ben iustified of thee. Therfor and be thou schent, and bere thi schenschipe, which hast iustified thi sistris.
53 Je ramènerai leurs captifs, les captifs de Sodome et de ses filles, les captifs de Samarie et de ses filles, ainsi que tes propres captifs au milieu des leurs,
And Y schal conuerte and restore hem by the conuersioun of Sodom with hir douytris, and bi the conuersioun of Samarie and of hir douytris; and Y schal conuerte thi turnyng ayen in the myddis of hem,
54 Afin que tu portes ton opprobre, que tu sois confuse à cause de tout ce que tu as fait, en étant pour elles un sujet de consolation.
that thou bere thi schenschipe, and be aschamed in alle thingis whiche thou didist, coumfortynge hem.
55 Et tes sœurs, Sodome et ses filles, reviendront à leur premier état; Samarie et ses filles reviendront à leur premier état; et toi et tes filles vous reviendrez à votre premier état.
And thi sister Sodom and hir doytris schulen turne ayen to her eldnesse; and Samarie and hir douytris shulen turne ayen to her eeldnesse; and thou and thi douytris turne ayen to youre eldnesse.
56 Cependant, dans le temps de ton orgueil,
Forsothe Sodom, thi sister, was not herd in thi mouth, in the dai of thi pride,
57 Avant que ta méchanceté fût découverte, lorsque tu recevais les outrages des filles de Syrie et de tous ses alentours, des filles des Philistins qui t'insultaient de toute part, ne discourais-tu pas sur Sodome ta sœur?
bifore that thi malice was schewid, as in this tyme, in to schenschipe of the douytris of Sirie, and of alle douytris in thi cumpas, of the douytris of Palestyn that ben aboute thee bi cumpas.
58 Tu portes sur toi le fardeau de tes crimes et de tes abominations! dit l'Éternel.
Thou hast bore thi greet trespas, and thi schenschipe, seith the Lord God.
59 Car ainsi a dit l'Éternel: Je te ferai comme tu as fait, toi qui as méprisé le serment, en rompant l'alliance.
For the Lord God seith these thingis, And Y schal do to thee as thou dispisidist the ooth, that thou schuldist make voide the couenaunt;
60 Toutefois je me souviendrai de l'alliance que j'ai faite avec toi, dans les jours de ta jeunesse, et j'établirai en ta faveur une alliance éternelle.
and Y schal haue mynde on my couenaunt with thee in the daies of thi yongthe, and Y schal reise to thee a couenaunt euerlastynge.
61 Alors tu te souviendras de ta conduite, et tu en seras confuse, quand tu recevras tes sœurs, tant les aînées que les cadettes, et que je te les donnerai pour filles, mais non en vertu de ton alliance.
And thou schalt haue mynde on thi weies, and schalt be aschamed, whanne thou schalt resseyue thi sistris grettere than thou, with thi lesse sistris; and Y schal yyue hem in to douytris to thee, but not of thi couenaunt.
62 Car j'établirai mon alliance avec toi, et tu sauras que je suis l'Éternel,
And Y schal reise my couenaunt with thee, and thou schalt wite, that Y am the Lord, that thou haue mynde, and be aschamed;
63 Afin que tu te souviennes, que tu sois confuse, et qu'à cause de ta confusion tu n'ouvres plus la bouche, quand je t'aurai pardonné tout ce que tu as fait, dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel.
and that it be no more to thee to opene the mouth for thi schame, whanne Y schal be plesid to thee in alle thingis whiche thou didist, seith the Lord God.
