1 La seconde année de Joas, fils de Joachaz, roi d'Israël, Amatsia, fils de Joas, roi de Juda, commença à régner.
Yn the secounde yeer of Joas, sone of Joachas, kyng of Israel, Amasie, sone of Joas, kyng of Juda, regnyde.
2 Il était âgé de vingt-cinq ans quand il devint roi, et il régna vingt-neuf ans à Jérusalem.
Amasie was of fyue and twenti yeer, whanne he bigan to regne; forsothe he regnyde in Jerusalem nyne and twenti yeer; the name of his modir was Joade of Jerusalem.
3 Sa mère s'appelait Joaddan, et elle était de Jérusalem. Il fit ce qui est droit aux yeux de l'Éternel; non pas toutefois comme David, son père. Il fit tout comme avait fait Joas, son père.
And he dide riytfulnesse bifor the Lord, netheles not as Dauid, his fadir; he dide bi alle thingis whiche Joas, his fadir, dide, no but this oonli,
4 De sorte qu'il n'y eut que les hauts lieux qui ne furent point ôtés; le peuple sacrifiait encore et faisait des encensements sur les hauts lieux.
that he dide not awei hiy thingis; for yit the puple made sacrifice, and brent encence in hiy thingis.
5 Et, dès que la royauté fut affermie entre ses mains, il fit mourir ceux de ses serviteurs qui avaient tué le roi, son père.
And whanne he hadde gete the rewme, he smoot hise seruauntis, that hadden killid the kyng, his fadir;
6 Mais il ne fit point mourir leurs enfants, se conformant à ce qui est écrit au livre de la loi de Moïse, où l'Éternel a donné ce commandement: On ne fera point mourir les pères pour les enfants, et on ne fera point mourir les enfants pour les pères; mais on fera mourir chacun pour son péché.
but he killide not the sones of hem that hadden slayn `the kyng, bi that that is writun in the book of the lawe of Moyses, as the Lord comaundide to Moises, and seide, Fadris schulen not die for the sones, nethir the sones for the fadris, but eche man schal die in his owne synne.
7 Il frappa dix mille hommes d'Édom dans la vallée du Sel, et prit d'assaut Séla, et lui donna le nom de Jokthéel, qu'elle a gardé jusqu'à ce jour.
He smoot Edom in the valey of makyngis of salt, `he smoot ten thousynde, and took `the Stoon in batel; and he clepide the name therof Jethel, `til in to present dai.
8 Alors Amatsia envoya des messagers vers Joas, fils de Joachaz, fils de Jéhu, roi d'Israël, pour lui dire: Viens, que nous nous voyions en face!
Thanne Amasie sente messangeris to Joas, sone of Joachaz, sone of Hieu, kyng of Israel, and seide, Come thou, and se we vs `in batel.
9 Mais Joas, roi d'Israël, envoya dire à Amatsia, roi de Juda: L'épine qui est au Liban a envoyé dire au cèdre du Liban: Donne ta fille pour femme à mon fils. Mais les bêtes sauvages qui sont au Liban ont passé et ont foulé l'épine.
And Joas, kyng of Israel, sente ayen to Amasie, kyng of Juda, and seide, The cardue, `that is, a low eerbe, and ful of thornes, of the Liban sente to the cedre, which is in the Liban, and seide, Yyue thi douytir wijf to my sone; and the beestis of the forest, that ben in the Liban, passiden, and tredden doun the cardue.
10 Tu as rudement frappé les Iduméens, et ton cœur s'est élevé. Jouis de ta gloire, et reste dans ta maison. Et pourquoi attirerais-tu un mal par lequel tu tomberais, toi et Juda avec toi?
Thou hast smyte, and haddist the maistri on Edom, and thin herte hath reisid thee; be thou apaied with glorie, and sitte in thin hows; whi excitist thou yuel, that thou falle, and Juda with thee?
11 Mais Amatsia ne l'écouta point. Et Joas, roi d'Israël, monta et ils se virent en face, lui et Amatsia, roi de Juda, à Bethsémèsh de Juda.
And Amasie assentide not `to be in pees; and Joas, kyng of Israel, stiede, and he and Amasie, kyng of Juda, sien hem silf in Bethsames, a citee of Juda.
12 Et ceux de Juda, ayant été défaits par Israël, s'enfuirent chacun dans sa tente.
And Juda was smytun bifor Israel; and thei fledden ech man in to his tabernaclis.
13 Et Joas, roi d'Israël, prit Amatsia, roi de Juda, fils de Joas, fils d'Achazia, à Bethsémèsh. Ensuite il vint à Jérusalem, et fit une brèche de quatre cents coudées dans la muraille de Jérusalem, depuis la porte d'Éphraïm jusqu'à la porte du Coin.
Sotheli Joas, kyng of Israel, took in Bethsames Amasie, kyng of Juda, the sone of Joas, sone of Ocozie, and brouyte hym in to Jerusalem; and he brak the wal of Jerusalem, fro the yate of Effraym `til to the yate of the corner, bi foure hundrid cubitis.
14 Et, ayant pris tout l'or et l'argent et tous les objets précieux qui furent trouvés dans la maison de l'Éternel et dans les trésors de la maison royale, et des otages, il s'en retourna à Samarie.
And he took al the gold and siluer, and alle vessels, that weren foundun in the hows of the Lord, and in the tresours of the kyng; and he took ostagis, and turnede ayen in to Samarie.
15 Le reste des actions de Joas, et sa valeur, et comment il combattit contre Amatsia, roi de Juda, cela n'est-il pas écrit au livre des Chroniques des rois d'Israël?
Sotheli the resydue of wordis of Joas, whiche he dide, and his strengthe, bi which he fauyt ayens Amasie, kyng of Juda, whether these ben not writun in the book of wordis of dayes of the kyngis of Israel?
16 Et Joas s'endormit avec ses pères, et fut enseveli à Samarie avec les rois d'Israël; et Jéroboam, son fils, régna à sa place.
And Joas slepte with hise fadris, and was biried in Samarie with the kyngis of Israel; and Jeroboam, his sone, regnede for hym.
17 Amatsia, fils de Joas, roi de Juda, vécut quinze ans après la mort de Joas, fils de Joachaz, roi d'Israël.
Forsothe Amasie, sone of Joas, kyng of Juda, lyuede fyue and twenti yeer, after that Joas, sone of Joachaz, kyng of Israel, was deed.
18 Le reste des actions d'Amatsia n'est-il pas écrit au livre des Chroniques des rois de Juda?
Forsothe the residue of wordis of Amasie, whether these ben not writun in the book of wordis of daies of the kyngis of Juda?
19 Or on fit une conspiration contre lui à Jérusalem, et il s'enfuit à Lakis. Mais on envoya après lui à Lakis, et on le tua là.
And `sweryng togidir in Jerusalem was maad ayens hym, and he fledde in to Lachis; and thei senten aftir hym in to Lachis, and killiden hym there.
20 Puis on le transporta sur des chevaux, et il fut enseveli à Jérusalem avec ses pères, dans la cité de David.
And thei baren out hym in horsis, and he was biried in Jerusalem with hise fadris, in the citee of Dauid.
21 Alors tout le peuple de Juda prit Asaria, qui était âgé de seize ans, et on l'établit roi à la place d'Amatsia, son père.
Forsothe al the puple of Juda took Azarie, hauynge sixtene yeer; and maden hym king for his fadir Amasie.
22 C'est lui qui rebâtit Élath, l'ayant reconquise pour Juda, après que le roi se fut endormi avec ses pères.
And he bildide Ahila, and restoride it to Juda, after that `the kyng slepte with hise fadris.
23 La quinzième année d'Amatsia, fils de Joas, roi de Juda, Jéroboam, fils de Joas, devint roi sur Israël à Samarie, et il régna quarante et un ans.
In the fiftenethe yeer of Amasie, sone of Joas, kyng of Juda, Jeroboam, sone of Joas, kyng of Israel, regnyde in Samarie oon and fourti yeer;
24 Il fit ce qui est mauvais aux yeux de l'Éternel. Il ne se détourna d'aucun des péchés de Jéroboam, fils de Nébat, par lesquels il avait fait pécher Israël.
and dide that, that is yuel bifor the Lord; he yede not awei fro alle the synnes of Jeroboam, sone of Nabath, that made Israel to do synne.
25 C'est lui qui rétablit les frontières d'Israël, depuis l'entrée de Hamath jusqu'à la mer de la plaine, selon la parole que l'Éternel, Dieu d'Israël, avait prononcée par son serviteur Jonas, le prophète, fils d'Amitthaï, qui était de Gath-Hépher.
He restoride the termes of Israel, fro the entryng of Emath `til to the see of wildirnesse, bi the word of the Lord God of Israel, which he spak bi his seruaunt Jonas, sone of Amathi, bi Jonas, the prophete, that was of Jeth, `which Jeth is in Ophir.
26 Car l'Éternel vit que l'affliction d'Israël était fort amère, et qu'il ne restait plus rien ni de ce qui est serré ni de ce qui est délaissé, et qu'il n'y avait personne qui aidât Israël.
For the Lord siy the ful bittir turment of Israel, and that thei weren wastid `til to the closid men of prisoun, and the laste men, and `noon was that helpide Israel.
27 Or l'Éternel n'avait point parlé d'effacer le nom d'Israël de dessous les cieux; aussi les délivra-t-il par les mains de Jéroboam, fils de Joas.
And the Lord spak not, that he schulde do awei Israel fro vndur heuene, but he sauyde hem in the hond of Jeroboam, sone of Joas.
28 Le reste des actions de Jéroboam, tout ce qu'il fit, la valeur avec laquelle il combattit, et comment il reconquit pour Israël Damas et Hamath de Juda, cela n'est-il pas écrit au livre des Chroniques des rois d'Israël?
Forsothe the residue of wordis of Jeroboam, and alle thingis whiche he dide, and the strengthe of hym, bi which he fauyt, and hou he restoride Damask, and Emath of Juda, in Israel, whether these ben not wrytun in the book of wordis of daies of the kyngis of Israel?
29 Et Jéroboam s'endormit avec ses pères, les rois d'Israël; et Zacharie, son fils, régna à sa place.
And Jeroboam slepte with hise fadris, the kyngis of Israel; and Azarie, his sone, regnede for hym.
